  • Very nice guitar. I'm more of a Fender fan, but hell, I'd take a Les Paul any day!

  • nice song, who are singing? Thanks!!!

  • @retal06

    Bob Seger "Against The Wind"

  • i have the faded brown. In a couple of years when the finish might get tarnished, can i hire you to give it that same finish?

  • @TheJuicer1414 Absolutely! I'd also be more than happy to email you the entire process as well as materials you would need to do the refinish. Thanks for your comment & request. Regards, Robert V.

  • how much would you be looking to charge?

  • very nice

  • MLP FOREVER!!! ;)

  • dito's...burst buckers are great...i play my MLP more than my SLP

  • I turned down the volume expecting to hear a sucky song. Turns out its bob seger!

Thank you for listening to real music !

  • Post a video of you playing it. Would like to hear how it sounds. Interested in purchasing this guitar at my local GC. They have it back down to $799 again.

  • I don't keep 'em after the refinish. I'm stacked up with guitars waiting for refinishing as it is now. My playing has taken somewhat of a backseat for now. They do sound very nice though. I'm currently working on one that sounds incredible & a real joy to play. Amazing really when you consider the cost for the guitar. Thanks for the comment.

  • Does the worn brown look better than the worn red after it is refinished?? Your video looks like a worn brown and it looks fantastic, specially to wood grain showing nicely.

  • The one in this video was originally Worn Cherry thought I've done both & both come out equally as nice. Obviously you have to be picky about the grain you're getting when picking out your LP. The Cherry may have a slight red tint to it but barely noticeable. I did one with Ribbon Flamed Mahogany that actually glowed in different lighting conditions. There is Flamed Mahogany out there.

  • Everyone with a brain should now this is a low end gibson. People only buy it for the name. Get a High End Epiphone they sound better

  • i have both. the gibson faded brown les paul is a great guitar. its sounds so nicer than my epiphone. im guesing thats what u have but u just wish you had one of these fine instruments

  • I have a Les Paul slash goldtop why would i want a Faded Brown? i think Epiphones are if you change pickups better than some of the low end Gibson thats all

  • @slimyesli I owned an Epi standard for 2 years before I bought a VM Lester. It's not a comparable guitar, even when you change the pickups (I had burstbuckers in my Epi). The tone is only one part of the equation. The neck on the VM is beyond any Epi I've ever played except an Elitist, but thats a Japanese Epi that's as much as a USA Lester.

  • AUUGGH!!!!!

  • Nice job!! I'm working on a LPVM now too... Mine started out brown but I put a gold leaf top on it and I'm having the whole guitar sealed with a nitro... My project started with just a stripped own LPVM so I'm rebuilding it from the ground up... I hope it comes out as nice as yours...

  • Best of luck to you! Thank you all for such nice compliments! I really think that Gibson is missing the boat with the finish on these Vintage Mahogany Guitars. Sad, but BIG Business usally leaves out the little guy. :(

  • Thanks, thats why gibson does not offer that finish..I think thats the best finish i have ever seen on a guitar...really beautiful....brings out the wood grain bigtime.....

  • Sorry, can you tell us was the guitar a cherry color, and also the process and materials that you used?

  • Yes it was but sanded down to bare wood then sealed with grain pore wood filler & sanding sealer then sanded up through the grades starting with 100Grit up to 300Grit. 7 coats of Nitro & cured for 1 month then wet sanded starting with 600grit up to 1200 then hand buffed/polished with buffing compound. Lots of work but well worth it. Thanks for the interest.

  • What does Nitro finish do?

  • It's a very slow curing finish that allows the wood of the instrument to breathe & offer the player it's full sound benefit. A good piece of Mahogany will have a very sweet tone full sound. Nitrocellulose gloss lacquer gives it a high gloss to sweeten it's looks as well.

  • So how much did this cost you? I'm looking at purchasing a similar guitar, so yeah.

  • Around $60.00 USD in Materials & Supplies (guitar not included).

  • looks great. i have the same one in worn cherry, but i used martin guitar polish to buff the dull finish and it looks great, but not as great as yours. good job.

  • great song n a great guitar .. .. but does bob seeger play a LP ??

  • Hmmmm... got me there!

  • i got the faded brown model for christmas
