  • Guys, 507. 5+7=12. Come on.

  • I wish the ponds had met sarah jane in this episode, they would have been brilliant in it! Thumbs up if you agree!

  • Wait wait wait... He can change FIVE HUNDRED AND SEVEN TIMES?!?!

DOCTOR WHO CAN GO ON FOREVER!!!! xDxDxD

  • ok. Price for Matt Smith for the most adorable number of smiles in such a short time!!!

  • "507." Lol.

Truth is, regeneration works until whatever organ causes it wears out, and who knows when that is? The Time Lords just said 12's the limit. Which I personally think the Doctor will stick to.

  • @AtarahDerek *Spoilers for season 6 of Doctor Who* Let's not forget that Riversong gave him her remaining regenerations which would add 10 to his remaining 2 giving him a grand total of 23 reganerations. Or atleast that's how I took it.

  • @mealldaley I think he's going to limit himself to the rule he was born under. I don't think he could stand to live that long--even though he was supposed to anyway even with only 12 regenerations. Only the first Doctor died of old age. He was over 700.

  • @AtarahDerek I suppose but I think bbc probably won't be willing to give up one of it's most popular shows and they can't keep one doctor on for too long. It also occured to me that river song is only half time lord which might actually give him 17 instead of 23.

  • Aww... I love The way he turns, and just says "come along smith!"

  • Sarah Jane, Jo Grant and The Doctor. What a team :)

  • I guess this is pretty silly but why does Sarah Jane have sonic lipstick? LIPSTICK? Why can't she have her own sonic screwdriver? Why is her sonic device tied to make up? :l

  • @LokianEule It was the 70s and they did shit like that? I dunno.

  • @TheFlowerGirl13 This is post 2000. In the classic series she had no such sonic device.

  • @LokianEule Good old fashioned sexism?

  • @TheFlowerGirl13 I really don't know. Elizabeth Sladen asked for the sonic lipstick herself versus the pen she was going to have. I guess it is a convenient disguise... 8l

  • @LokianEule As a disguise.

It makes sense in other epsiodes, in one she was going to be killed and said something like "As a last request, can I put some lipstick on?" then sonicked the dude.

  • but according to the movie he would only regenerate 13 times

  • @1doesntlikeapplepie According to more than just the movie, he can regenerate twelve times for a total of thirteen incarnations.

  • @1doesntlikeapplepie No, he says that a Time Lord has thirteen lives. So twelve regenerations gets you thirteen bodies.

  • @LokianEule problem is is that was a restriction placed upon the time lords during the reign of the Gallifreyan hierarchy. now that it is out of place, he can have more lives.

  • @HeathsHarleyQuinn Yes, it's really not relevant now. But at the time it was 13 incarnations, 12 regenerations (unless you were granted some by TLs or you stole them a la 1996).

  • uhhh

  • I think that sarah Jane and the dockter sould marie Rachel

  • Oh Jo. I haven't even met you and your scene is making me bawl.

  • Spaceswappingdoodahthingymawhatsit...is that a technical term?

  • come along, smith

  • I wish Amy and Rory could have been in this ep. It would have made it funnier, I think.

  • Gonna be sad with Matt has to go. God, I get too attached to every Doctor. And then they have to go, because that's how Doctor Who is. Always changing. Oh well, I'd rather have Doctor Who keep going than to stop.

  • when the fuck did schoolchick become hispanic?

  • To be fair, who would tell that kid anything? It'd be more fun stringing him along.

  • Quite a touching scene with the doctor and jo, brought a tear to my eye!,..i'm a 42 year old man!

  • Can i ask, why do people have a problem with the doctor having 507 regenerations? I know they've said 13, but wouldn't you want it to be 500 so the show keeps going? As Neil Gaiman said, he sees the Regen cycle as a Gallifryian Law, not a Biological Law.

  • @GhostBusta234

I think the main problem people have with it is that the doctor gives no explanation, which is something he always done. This leads me to believe he's only joking. From what I read there are many competing theories, most of them have to do with Rassilon genetically altering Time Lords or a virus/hormone in a Time Lord's body. Both make give credence to the idea that 13 regenerations is, in fact, a biological law. However, they can write themselves out of anything.

  • @BryceSommer I meant to say "something he HAS always done." I was so close to being eloquent.

  • Sarah Jane Smith and Jo Grant, two of the best classic Doctor Who companions, together at the same time, can only be described as awesome. Now if only they could have gotten Barbara and Ian, it would be perfect.

  • I love it how many people seem to think the Doctor was being serieus when he said he can regenerate 507 times. He.was.being.sarcastic. And, rule #1, The Doctor lies.

  • ....Yeah. So. "How many times can you change." "Five hundred and seven." Me: "WHAT?!"

  • Did he just say he has 500 regenerations?

  • @playfulkitty828

no, 507. my theory is that when he destroyed all time lords he ended up gaining some more regenerations.

  • @playfulkitty828 no, no, no... don't be silly... He said 507.

  • Every time Sarah Jane blows that whistle I laugh. Where did she get that from? It seem so random. And what a way to stop the dramatic conversation :D

  • So why is the Doctor always white.........are there not that many black actors in Britain Im just asking because I have heard there arnt that many black people in Britain.

  • Jo and Sarah on the planet....wow Its been so long....and it feels somewhat.....less cheesy now......lol....bad joke.

  • Did the Doctor at 4:31 say "It always hurts" or "He always hurts"?

  • @akward42 he said it always hurts

  • @bsbhimrasmus

Yeah, "It always hurts" makes more sense. Although "He always hurts" would've made it interesting in a way since Sarah Jane just mentioned Ten.

  • When the Doctor tells Jo about her 13th grandchild and says he's dyslexic, is he talking about the kid from The Hungry Earth?

  • *Though

  • I wonder who would win if the doctor and Luke and a knowledge off?

  • @subunit16 the doctor,

  • @LifterC3 Yeah even thought Luke is smart he can be pretty easily tricked!

  • @subunit16 now what about The Doctor vs Mr Smith.

  • @LifterC3 Like omg so right!!! Btw I think Mr. Smith would win though. How bout u?

  • @subunit16 hmm, though battle, but mr Smith's knowledge is probaly supirour to the doctors. tho The Doctor might be able to trick him in some way.

  • Brilliant perfomace from MS in this one.

  • lets have a vote: do u think that Matt Smith (the doctor) is handsome?

vote yes or no(thumps up or down)

start to vote now are send a message to me saying yes or no!

  • I was just asking myself "when the hell is Matt Smith's Doctor going to get together with someone?"

Then I was like.. oh wait.. He did. I just really don't fucking like River Song.

  • At 1:42 does the Doctor shout "OH FUCK!"

I keep on listening back to it and giggling..

  • @lizzielonglegs it does sound like it i have to admit!

  • @lizzielonglegs I believe it's "faster faster faster" but i do find what you suggested funny....but what he said is still funny Lol xD bcoz it doesnt sound right... xD

  • i love it when the doctor is crawling backwards and clive is talking to him, the doctor is like "wha....?" lol

  • come along smith

    noooooooooo

    its come along pond

  • "A space swapping doo-da thingy."

Must tap into that whole wibbly wobbly timey-wimey thing.

  • oh where are the ponds

  • Did it hurt, I mean the regeneration, that body of yours, was he okay I mean?

    11th: He always hurts.

  • @Pizzaboyzmvp

Interesting how SJS talks as if 10th was a different person.

  • @extraleague01 That is why Multi-Doctor specials are super odd. He either calls all of him me, sometimes, him..

  • 12:29 - 12:32 just look at Melody Pond/ Mels/ River Song in The Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon and Let's Kill Hitler

  • The Doctor is Cool

11 is so my Doctor don't get me wrong I love David Tennant I've just known to many people like him

    GERONIMO !!!!

  • i bet Steven Moffit was so nervous about letting Russell T Davies get his claws into Matt lol

  • @ 5:48 - 5:56 tiny Big Finish reference (i.e. the 3rd Doctor Companion Chronicle Find & Replace featuring both Jo and Iris Wildthyme) :D

  • wait i want to know if i heard that rights did the kid asked the doctor how many times "can" he change or was it how many times "did" he change??

  • this is what people really need to watch to get a feel for Matt Smith, season 5 doesn't nearly do him justice, I mean yes he's hillariously funny there but this is where he can actually stretch his dramatic muscles

  • @lidoeg2 em... the scene in The Big Bang where he's talking to little Amelia? The scene when he's in the Pandorica talking to older Amy about to start Big Bang 2? The scene in The Hungry Earth where he's interrogating Alaya the Silurian? The scene in Flesh and Stone where he's telling Amy to trust him? The same episode where he snaps at River "Like me, for instance!"? The scene- no, the ENTIRE of A Christmas Carol? (If you count that as Series 5, which I do)

  • Am I the only one feeling the epic music at 4:01? It's amazing!

  • I love matt as the doc but prefer David as the doc I -3 dr?

  • I honestly think Smith's appearance in this was far superiour to David's shouty, over-the-top "parody of himself" performance in the last series. Smith is more fun, nervous, shaky, quirky and suits the tone of this show much, much better. I think the line that best suits this is when he says at 02:17 "Remember the old days when we'd go zooming off to faraway worlds? *zap*"

Oh, and also at 02:03 - "Sorry I was... slamming it."

  • @MrFitzonic Agreed. I definitely enjoyed these two episodes better than the other eps the Doctor was in. Last time it felt like an extended cameo. The Doctor shows up, spouts some technobabble, and then leaves after Clyde is zapped by the TARDIS throwing out some inspirational words as he left.

Here the Doctor actually becomes part of the story and does something integral to the plot. He interacts with the characters more meaningfully and helps Sarah Jane and Jo save the day at the end.

  • @MrFitzonic XD

  • @MrFitzonic Tennant is my Doctor, but I totally think Matt Smith's cameo here beats Tennant's cameo in the last series completely.

  • @DanDruffification that..is...like inception yo...DOC-CEPTION.

  • i hope another episode featuring doctor 11 was made before elizabeth passed away

  • Major awww factor with The Doctor and Jo;) He said he'd come back to her and he did, didn't he.

  • 507 regenerations? they better come up with a good explanation for that. or maybe, he was given the extra regenerations in order to fight in the war before he regenerated into the ninth.....hmm....i wonder....

  • @blearghp with the other timelords stuck in a time lock and essentially dead, he's taken all theyre regenerations.

  • @SailorYue that could be one of the reason O.O oooh....mind boggling

  • @blearghp Rule #1: The Doctor lies. He was being facetious.

  • Is are these episode the reason why series 6 was delayed?

  • Matt Smith is so adorable <3 He randomly gets up and does a spin then just goes back to doing whatever he was doing. SO CUTE.

  • It is it's 12 regenerations which gives the Doctor 13 bodies. The Doctor was joking when he said 507.

  • @gothamcity29 he lived befor the tv show

  • @marethebo1

Yeah but it has been confirmed by people and the show that William Hartnel is indeed the first Doctor. Which by now makes sense since the Doctor is on his eleventh body.

  • @gothamcity29 remember the episode where the tenth doctor was going to regenerate but he used his hand to keep his body doesnt that count as a regeneration

  • @gothamcity29 5+0+7 = 12

  • 507 regenerations? I thought timelords only got 12?!

  • @DdlyHeadshot same

  • @DdlyHeadshot 13 actually

  • @Redbrodie16 I thought it was 12 Regenerations = 13 Bodies

  • @DdlyHeadshot It is.

  • Oh no! The Shansheeth have the phone box. Mmm, doesn't have the same ring to it. The vultures have the phone box?

  • OMG Clyde you can't just ask people if they're always white.

  • Previous episodes established that one Time Lord can steal regenerations from another. After the Time War, the Doctor might have helped himself to a few.

  • @Wintermute01001 Personally, I think that the excess regenerative energy of the dead Time Lords got 'transferred' into him when the other Time Lords died

  • The Doctor can change as many times the writers want him to.

  • @LtEggSalad86 Of course, but as soon as he regenerates a 13th time into Fourteen, I hope they come up with a good explanation, not just some throwaway line as with the Master "The Time Lords only resurrected me because they knew I was the perfect fighter in a Time War."

  • @KingLofiOne yeah, they have to make a good explanation. Nothing like "Oh, that whole only regenerate 13 times thing? Made up stories to fool the enemies"

  • i'm only here for eleven. lol... and that question to the doctor, "are you always white?" lol wut

  • 507. 5+0+7= 12

  • Jo's mouth got big over the years

  • @12DMC81 Indeeed.

  • am I the only one who thinks it's weird how when they're hetting boiled, neither clyde nor rani nor anyone takes any layers off to cool down?

  • this and The Wedding of Sarah Jane are the only episodes I've ever seen.

  • 507?

Quote from River: the Doctor lies.

  • @RiverPond00 Indeeeeeed

  • This would've been sooo cool if ALL the Ponds where in it (including River/Melody and baby Melody)

  • this episode was great, what would have made it doubly awesome is if Amy and rory had been in it

  • @mylittelucy I did wonder when in Eleven's timeline this took place.

  • @Sparrow9612 This, as the Doctor confirms, is between A Christmas Carol and The Impossible Astronaut, since the Doctor says that Amy and Rory are on a "Honeymoon Planet" which is after their marriage, and after the Doctor has picked them up after the events of A Christmas Carol. Since it's Mr and Mrs Pond and Rory says, at the end of A Christmas Carol "Have you got anymore ideas for a honeymoon" which leads into this. See?

  • @Jamestopboy I see now. Makes sense.

  • @Jamestopboy Yeah so Amy's probably pregnant with River/Melody at this time

  • @MsEcogeek Or, she's GETTING pregant with her.

  • Matt Smith is awesome as the doctor but in my opinion the rest of the cast is terrible (not Elisabeth Sladen). ....Just my opinion

  • I love that The Doctor chooses to save the children.

  • I forgot the 11th doctor (Matt Smith ) had those memories

  • God Santiago is beyond cute

  • I think he was probably lying about the 507 thing.

  • @DevilMudger

    He was

  • Matt Smith has deffinatly grown on me, he's one Hell of a good actor and I love his portrayal of the Doctor. I'm glad they've bended the rules to '507' regenerations, frankley they had to change it at some point or the series would end in two more Doctor's and fans over the Planet would go craaazy!

  • @BeingJade 3 more Doctors. And it hasn't change. Remember, the Doctor lies. But there is Technology that the Time Lords had in order to renew the regenerations - the Master used it once before. :)

  • @saraphite oh yeah, and 5+0+7= twelve, so he might have been joking...

  • lol come along smith :)

  • they always say about desexia and im so proud to have it :)

  • 13 banamon road is where sarah jane lives

  • "Is there a limit? I mean how many times can you change?"

    "507"

Um... did the Doctor just lie or is RTD trying to slip in that the old 13 rule is irrelevant?

  • @neglabable they have to change the rule or DW would end in 2 more Doctors; they had to re-write it somehow

I think it is because the timelords no longer exist as a ruling society, they cannot impose the limit.

or during the timewar the limit was removed so they could keep fighting..

  • @Rmg12 I thought the message at the end of "Waters of Mars" was that he still had to abide by the rules (most, anyway, he certainly still interferes haha) of the timelords, even though he's the last. The Master managed to acquire a new cycle of regenerations, and I thought I heard that RTD said once that if they got past 13 they'd do something similar. I just hope they actually address it in the [actual] show, rather than pretending it was always 507.

  • @neglabable yeah, I agree, the message was his own personal rules though, in old who he didn't abide by the rules either (hence he was exiled on earth) and always reprimanded by the timelords, I like my theory though non-canon, but then again this canon of 507 is silly :(

  • @Rmg12 507= joke rtd even said so

  • @neglabable ha i thougt that 13 was the linit to lol thats so funny

  • RIP Sarah Jane. I would've loved a meeting between Pond and her.

  • Rest in Peace Sarah Jane Smith, Matts reminds me alot of Jon Pertwee's Doctor

  • You know Matt Smith's almost flamboyance and weird hand jestures gives me a giggle every now and then plus his kind of wacky attitude when he isn't po'd.

  • shes dopey with the sonic

  • so uv got a married couple now

MR AND MRS POND!! i love how he says tat

  • Does anyone know what the doctor said/meant on 12:34?

507? Is he talking about regenerations?

  • @sandplay2 i think so yes

  • @sandplay2 he meant it a joke. If you add everything up you get a total of 12. So the doctor just made a slight joke.

  • @sandplay2 yes because Clyde asked him how many times he could change A.K.A regenerate

  • 7 kids, 12 grandchildren, 13th on his way, he's dyslexic but that'll be fine, great swimmer.

  • Yes it hert I spent 30 F*%king minutes looking at all of my compainons! Russell T Davis STUPID YOUR STUPID!!!!

  • i love this episode, but i hate how they completly changed the rule of how many times the Doctor can regenerate. Originally, a Time Lord had 13 lives, but they have randomly changed it to 507 >:(. Oh well, means there will be hopefully more Doctor Who in the future!!

RIP Elisabeth Sladen, a brilliant actress who will be dearly missed

  • @DoctorKatie903

The Doctor was joking about that. Russel T. Davies even admitted that it was a joke. Although seeing how the Time Lords are all gone maybe he can regenerate 507 times.

  • shame i cant find the dvd set for this show, it good for a kids show

  • he never seems to want to talk about his 10th body, when the 10th doctor talked a lot about his other bodies

  • @chucklevisionman Probably because he's embarassed by what a miserable bastard his 10th body was towards the end.

  • hahha "come along... SMITH!?!?" lol go matt

  • @BowTiesRCool Lol.

  • Space-swapping-doodah-thingymiwhatsit is officially the best word ever!!

  • Yo, Sarah?

  • The birds have the box!

  • we miss you elizabeth sladen RIPxxx and i miss david as the doctor

  • Come along Smith!! :)

  • a space-swapping-doo-da-thing in the whatsit....timey-wimey-wibbly-wobbly stuff...the Doctor's good with names, apparently.

  • Comment removed

  • Rest in Peace Elisabeth Sladen. You will be missed
