Modern day society sucks in many ways, look back at the 80's and early 90's and everything was so much better, music, movies, cartoons, tv shows, hell i'll even go as far as to say hair styles and clothing, not to mention peoples general attitudes and personalities were way better. Bring back those times, bring back shows like 21 Jump Street, cartoons like ThunderCats and Music like this, bring back the old school WWF and wrestlers like Macho Man Randy Savage and movies likeThis and Lost Boys.
No, looking back at happier times and trying to emulate them help make the future more productive and interesting. Obviously, current artists need to take notes from their predecessors.
"waking up the sheep is not easy" - best comment i've ever seen on youtube. people (as a whole) nowadays are just stupid! the 2000s suck, bring back the 80s!
@OliverHElkus My father didn't Graduate..He has a Great idea of how much i Envy his existence in the 1970's..And yes music has been dead since 90's i think?

I'm only 17 but I love this movie. I saw it at school earlier this year and was immediately hooked. Movies from the 60s, 70s and 80s are way better than today's movies. The music and TV shows of those years are also great. I just wish I grew up in the 80s and experienced the amazing music, movies and TV shows.
@tahitiancookie Yeah, too bad we're stuck in this current era with Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and Twilight :( I wish I was in the 80s instead, I would have lots of fun :)
You'd probably have resented her at some point down the track and as I said to someone else, your grandparents would have probably not gone for that... XD.
If I run president The first thing Imma do is bring the 80's back and I know just how to do it! :) Get all the old clothes back and do old looking tv shows and play these old songs and make them sound like the 80's
@starkweather444 Are you familiar with the school in Des Plaines where "The Breakfast Club" was filmed? Just thought I'd ask since you said you're from suburban Chicago.
@ter521fad yeah Maine North in Des Plains I have been inside it and it looked exactly the same, but this was around the time it was filmed don't know what its like now. But its still there.
this might sound strange but I'm autistic and like to imagine in my mind that when I was in high school it was really the 80's and all the people I went to school with were there too. it's just 20 years off.
Born in 1967, as a kid in the '70s was cool and laid back, after I turned 13 in 1980 the '80s were just getting better: the music, the movies, the parties nearly every week. Hmm... it was really a great time for me at least. Party hearty. Sure, I had some moments that were not good but I made up for those with some much better moments. Had a lump in my throat & a welling in the eyes during graduation in '86 because i could see the times were changing.
I was born in 1987 but fortunately took the time when I was younger to watch films from the 80s, in particular John Hughes movies, partly thanks to my mum but greatly because I didn't want to listen to rubbish like garage and bad hiphop that spawned from 1998 onwards. My favourite band is The Doors and I am proud to admit that, and somehow I get a surprising amount of respect for that. I also have a big penchant for bands of the 80s and a lot of New Romantic stuff. All I'm saying is today sucks
Awe...the era of big hair, Bon Jovi, Micheal Jackson, and oh yes...the "Brat Pack"...I'm so glad to have spent my teen years in this unforgetable time....:)
i love this movie! it's so good! i watched it for the first time at my friends house this summer and now i'm in love with it. i even ordered a poster of it ahahaha. :)
@robtwinkle obviously you dont understand satirical humor. furthermore, im going to make the assumption that you are 15 years old and in doing so forgive you for your embecilic remark. i sincerely hope you arent older because then i would have to call you a dumbass. i will know shortly which anterior hypothesis was accurate.
@arsenal1032 your are so wrong about that! the nintes were not that memorable and the last decade of pop culture has lacked creativity and im sure we will continue to devolve.
@arsenal1032 God, I hope not. If people look back at the early 00s and envy this time, then how bad will it be in 2030 or 2040? I was born in 1980 and the last 9-10 years have easily been the worst in my life time. I remember not caring much for the 90s, but now I'd kill to even have them back. 9/11, Bush and his cronies ruined everything. I feel sorry for the kids who completely missed out on the 80s.
@rainlova000000000001 wow i'm so scared . you know what , you're the type of person that think they can do whatever they want just cuz we can't see you face to face but when really ... one day you will screw up and they will track your IP address . You have to put down every one to make yourself feel better .
I miss the 80's too. the world had a better feel back then not having to worry about "getting a cap yo ass" over a pair of shoes or a rhyme. todays influence is just plain heathen and ugly.
thats when i was 16 when i first heard the song. I was in high school in the 80's and can 100% assure you it was way better than now. We still had an economy, America was at its peak in every way: no terrorism, people were better, it was wayyyy more fun. No cell phones or internet then but still better than now. im 14, & i feel like i was born in the wrong decade. i totally love the 80s. i wish i lived back then. im pretty sure it was way more fun then today. when my friends think stuff from the 80s is stupid, i just think about how they obivously dont know what fun iss :P
Man sometimes I think I'm an older person inside an 18 yr old body xD I'm just a person that prefers 80s music and everything over today's stuff...also this movie beats out more than half of the crap in theaters today as well because it's timeless. I truly believe that if I could have been a teenager in the 80s, it would have been a hell of a time. :) I say we rebel and teach everyone how to party like it's the 80s again lmao. ;D
I hate that I wasnt even born in the 80s :( but atleast I get to experience its greatness now. Me and my sister LOVE watching these great 80s movies and we love the music :D
LET'S BRING BACK THE 80's! crazy summer nights, cineparks, the music, the mentality of the people in the 80's.. y2k is crap and it's getting even worse as the years go by. I just turned 16 in October but inside I feel like I'm 35 bcuz I miss something that I wasn't even born to see ! Damn, why didn't my mom become pregnant at 15? xD I love the breakfast club because it's timeless.. No matter what era we're in, it's always the same.. We all belong to different groups but inside we're the same..
i know.. people are stuck on their computers and texting and crap... at my school we're not allowed to have our cell phone NOT EVEN IN THE CAFETERIA cuz of some idiot who took a picture of someone else's crack.. yea its stupid.. but in the 80's if you had to say something 2 someone it was face to face or on the phone.. now its all MSN , texting.. etc.. it sucks :P
@LiiLShorTiiie im the same cept im 13 i try to go as many concerts to live up what we have left of these musicans like KISS rush tom petty alice cooper phish australian pink floyd motley crue ozzy eric clapton def leppard van halen and it goes on and on my friends
@LiiLShorTiiie I love your comment!!!! It's true. I was born in 1985 and I didn't enjoy that marvellous age, but I do it every time I have the opportunity to listen to Benjamin Orr, Kenny Loggins, Cindy Lauper, New Order, Nik Kershaw, Spandau Ballet, Duran Duran!! I love the 80's so much !!
I graduated in 1993. I was an 80's kid and I want to go back.. The world is just to ugly anymore. The 80's was the last good thing left. We can bring it back but, waking up the sheep is not easy:-(
I'm only 14, almost 15 (1994) and I think it's great that these classics are still around. I hate that my generation and future ones have been brought up to like shit like Miley Cirrus, The Jonas Brothers, and other Disney crap. Granted Disney use to be great, but sadly has not held up in the past few years. I wish other great movies like Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink, and others were still popular.
yea im 13 and i love all of these classics. My friends think im soo weird well most fo them but i HATE what kind of movies and music we have now...IF ONLY I WAS ALIVE BACK THEN! if only...... - _ -
Same here, granted they did have a few things that were s*** but they had a lot of great music. And don't worry, my friends (they few I have) think I'm weird too.And also not all (most thought) music is crap, I've found that Michael Buble is beautiful classical music.
If you're a 13 yr old that likes the 80s classics and music...that shouldn't make you weird, it just makes you unique and freaking awesome. :D *high fives* also sounds to me like your friends are the weird ones if they can't appreciate the good stuff in the 80s lol. I'm totally with you, the music and movies today are like 90% or more utter rubbish compared to the 80s. It seems that music back then had real good meanings or were very memorable, and the movies were timeless. :P

If your mum had become pregnant at 15, I think your Grandfolks would have had something to say about that. LOL.

i know.. people are stuck on their computers and texting and crap... at my school we're not allowed to have our cell phone NOT EVEN IN THE CAFETERIA cuz of some idiot who took a picture of someone else's crack.. yea its stupid.. but in the 80's if you had to say something 2 someone it was face to face or on the phone.. now its all MSN , texting.. etc.. it sucks :P

I was a teenager in the 80s, but isn't any age really what we make of it, if we can all come together and... um...
Ah screw it. The 80s ruled, and I was there for it. ;)

13ilovethe80s 2 years ago
Same here, granted they did have a few things that were s*** but they had a lot of great music. And don't worry, my friends (they few I have) think I'm weird too.And also not all (most thought) music is crap, I've found that Michael Buble is beautiful classical music.

@13ilovethe80s
