mr. tamiya...i want you to know that i am one of the few, new modellers..and this hobby has changed my life habits even at work =) am 22 years old..started about 2 years ago...thank you for this hobby for spending my money, which could have been wasted on alcohol and smoking=)
I don't understand the animosity by some toward Tamiya in this thread. Like any business, he wants to make product that people will buy. What's wrong with that? As for price, well, it costs a lot of money to produce kits, plus, the modelbuilding audience is a fraction of what it was thirty years ago (thank you videogames and computers). Therefore the cost per kit goes up because the volume isn't there.
Believe me, I'm one person who wishes that was not true.
And Mr. Shunsaku , stand by your product before you lose more loyal customers . Take customer's legitimate complaints seriously by setting up a complaint department.
Tamiya has no complaint department & their customer support will not right the mistakes they admited its theirs. I am still stuck with the tank kit with wrong tracks they admited their staff put in. Buyers beware if you are outside Japan buyer. I learned the hard way.
I admit they seldom made mistake, but if they do, their customer supprt will use every excuse to refuse you. In my first Tamiya reply, they said I bought it from Ebay so they refused to send me the correct ones. Then in Tamiya second reply they said, the mistake was indeed made by them, but made further back, so they will not do anything.
Not only did they not right the mistake they admited they made, not one word is mentioned abour sorry it happened. Why does it matter where I bought the Tamiya product? And if a person rob somebody rob a bank a few years back, he can walk away free to-day?
I am german myself and i wouldn't blame a model on what happened 60 years ago, i really feel like buying a Tamiya Model right away, he seems to be such a nice guy.

@ppplll000999 you are illogical, the limits of small models means these issues cannot be corrected. did you even listen to the interview?

I feel like buying a Chieftain now
1) I love tanks

3) That bloke seems nice and I'd be helping him out. :-)
