wutan is a wing chung system created by the legendary yip man bruce lee wing chung instructor it incorpartes wing chung plus other more radical movements like a high kick in stead of a low kick etc
@jasonross2001 wu tan as shown here has nothing to do with ip man nor wing chun. the wu tan org. was grandmaster liu's child. it is mantis,baji/piqua,yin fu bagua, chen taiji, and long fist.
could someone please tell me the names of the stances as he goes threw them? I know what Ma Bu Tsuei is, the horse stance. I just joined Wu-tan Kung Fu an want to train at home for sure, it would be easier if i knew the stance names by there chinese names
Wu-Tan is not a style on its own, its an organization, who`s goal is to preserve and promote Northern Chinese martial Arts. They practice several Mantis-styles in Wu-Tan: 8-Step, Seven Stars, Six Harmony etc.
This set is a basic set for stance-training in Wu-Tan, when first learning Mantis.
@66AngelOfDeath66 no style was ever created at shaolin, the whole "connecting your school" to shaolin occured during the early 1900's because of a popular series of books known as the swordman fictions. kung fu was and arguably still is practised at the shaolin temple, but if you do extensive research into various kung fu styles apparently having been formed at shaolin you will find its origins elsewhere.
i didnt see any horse stances it kind of looked like a cross between a kim yow ma and mabu but its not really either when u do ur horse stance you should practice pushing your knees out over your feet. but i think it look pretty good
The Mabu we do is much more narrower than the "regular" Mabu, which is much wider. Our version is inspired by the Mabu from Bajiquan, one of the styles the Wu-Tan organization is most known for.
erm correct me if im wrong here but i use the same stance unto a brawl to deflect any straight blows and kicks and counter them efficiantly errr is the preying mantis purpose the same as mine? any chinese kempo masters here?
The postures of any set can be (and should be) held for the purposes of stance training. Why come up with a new "set" for this purpose? The first few movements of any set has most of the stances.
Yes, of course we hold the stances for some time when training, but that would be a very boring (and long) video, if I should stand still in every stance for a minute before moving on... This is a demo-video, just showing the stances. And its not a "new" form, its the form I learned in the Wu-Tan organization. Its their Mantis foundation training.
This is great. I'm adding it to my regime...

Nice stance work! Though I am not a part of them, the Wu Tang group in our area (Ohio, USA) are very talented.

Unfortunately, the film's characters ~ ~ ~ ~ in the performance Houxi
With the precision of the martial arts did not realize ~ ~ ~ good education, not master
China's kung fu-like fist-~ ~
To snake-like Diao sly as a snake-like a tiger outbreak of the Tiger Momentum ~
You see movies where people like to play in the shadow boxing and boxing seemed to be laying the foundation Seven ~
Things get out of it ~
