Too old to marry, too young to bury. This statement was made by a dying grandmother. She applied for govt. healthcare in Feb 09. Her case got delayed until Dec 09. She received hospice care in Dec 09 and suddenly her govt. healthcare got approved. You see, its cheaper to pay for hospice care than to pay for treating cancer. Furthermore once you received hospice care, all other treatment halted. There you have it. The govt. saved money by letting a sick woman die.

That's called mixing your metaphores. All the real cows are being replace by representations of cows. We have created a system where basic value is contolled while being diminished by that same control. Everything is valued in terms of certificates of value changing hands in an unfair way. The basis for money is more about less and more and who has more and less. What is needed is a way for basic value to be generated from a kind of basic work. ie. capturing energy from sun with biomass.

One) It's not just insurance companies and HMO's, doctors running up the bill to pad the bottom line is a factor. 2) Cost-cutting alone won't do it. If you want serious medical reform, you're going to have to privative the Department of Education, public pensions including Soc. Sec., or raise the tax base somewhere by an equivalent amount.
