I love the sequence where the Black/African American soldier is dressed in German Army uniform. He boards the plane, sits there for hours while flying to Germany, lands at an enemy base,( bearing in mind that the commanders of the mission knew what the plan was for weeks before) AND ONLY THEN does it dawn on the commander that the Nazis were a bit racist and did not have many soldiers of Afro-Carribean origin.
The Seven Magic words of this movie..."Nazi General who plans to assassinate Hitler" oh if ONLY I could see these words in an American History Textbook. Then I would feel complete.
@NoobSnoopy Because Hitler was a dingbat and that's why the Germans lost. There was plenty of other people who could replace him who were much more competent.
This movie was not that bad. The only problem with the movie is that the plot made no sense. Kill a Nazi General that is plotting to kill Hitler. I would just let that General kill Hitler. Advantage to the Allies!
@F03NovaSpark I believe their intention is to prevent Hitler from being killed, because if he was killed, then somebody more competent (i.e. Heinrich Himmler, Erich Von Manstein, Field Marshal Erwin Rommel, Sepp Dietrich, Otto Skorzeny or any number of astonishing military leaders) would take over the German war effort and make victory for the allies much more difficult if not impossible.
@CrimsonFury006 Operation Foxley was a British SOE operation that investigated the possiblity of assasinating Hitler in Berghof. The plan was to use a Polish POW who switched sides to help an English sniper infiltrate Hitlers private estate at the Berghof and kill him whilst he was having his regular morning walk. SOE was ordered to abandon the plan due to the Wolfs Lair bombing and the beleif that Hitler was running his army into the ground.
I enjoyed this one as much as the original, truth be told. The actor who played the Nazi general was brilliant, as he was playing an SS officer in Raiders of the Lost Ark. He was one of the best characters.
Been a long time since I've seen either, but the second one struck me as being much better than the first. Plot seems at least remotely plausible, and the combat is much better.
The original DD suffers from the old 'scene of German shooting, cross to scene of American shooting, cross back to scene of German falling over'; whereas I can't recall that happening with the frustrating regularity of the original.

Dietrich (Wolf's character in Raiders) was Heer, not SS. Vogel in Last Crusade was SS, though.
Having nitpicked, I wanna say I saw this on TV and liked it.

Thank you for the correction.

Is this as good as the first?
I'm asking cause here in Brazil it's hard to find this movie with legends.
The First one was a classic, very good.
But the second it's nearly 20 years after... it seems a little long..

No, it's a pretty poor effort truth be told.
