@jannuska any call center work is like working in the center of hell... it drove me to smoking... even working for myself fixing websites and telling people they need to click EMAILS! to make a new email address via chat or ticket is less stressful than someone whining at you on the phone becuase they cant hock something up via USB... just plug the godforsaken thing in, put the disk in the CD-rom drive and if it does not start itself than go into my computer and open the disk

Real life for sure! I worked a help desk for 6 years. Had one user who didn't know she could pick her mouse up and relocate it on her mouse pad. She was picking up her mouse pad AND her mouse and moving it around in the air. To her credit, she laughed at herself.

Unfortunately your going to have to take care of situations like this regardless of your position in the tech. industry. Helpdesk sucks, but everyone has to start somewhere. Server maintenance isn't really a full job role. That will probably be one of your many roles if you land a position where you get to do that stuff. In many cases, helpdesk employee's will perform basic server maintenance tasks as well.

I used to work Helpdesk. Sad to say, this video is more accurate than not. Burnout rate was high for reasons seen here. On my last day, I nicely put a caller on hold so I could scream and hurl a pen across the room, and watch it explode against the far wall.

Buyers should have to pass a basic PC literacy class before they're allowed to take a computer home.
