The new album is amazing. If you're expecting the same album as their first two, it's best you just continue listening to the first two and just give this one a miss.
If you're open minded to good, non-power violence music, you will love this one.
figures that the king of hipster bandwagon hopping hates it. I fucking love it when bands put out albums like this that piss off the majority of their fair-weather fanbase. Go sob in the corner while you listen to Violence Violence on repeat, dickheads.
@ohcalcutta81 I mean...it's just his opinion of the song, one that didn't really interest me either. Everybody's entitled to their opinion, aren't they? He loved the previous album, so the fact that this song doesn't sound like "Throwing Bricks" doesn't enter into it.
By the way, your screen name is pretty damn great.
I like the track. It's just different for them, but I'm hoping the whole record isn't like it. I could get bored of the same riff over and over again.
check out bronze medal from the kinders and the instrumental song they have which i can't think of but includes the word gestures and nina's chords their 3rd song i heard
STOP DOWNLOADING! Bands deserve to get paid. It doesn't make them "sellouts"..If your boss doesn't pay you for your job at Mc d's you are getting ripped off like downloaders rip off bands.Cool bands cant recoup costs from their labels and are getting dropped. We will be stuck with GaGa and Beiber cuz 12 yr olds pay for music more than "indie" kids do. It is also compromising the state of the internet. It's a human problem not a music problem.Give something back to music and the net.
So, it doesn't make a difference to Ceremony what you think. They didn't even have a real myspace. Ross Farrar (singer) said that people are going to hate the new stuff after Rohnert Park came out and that all people can do is get on the internet and blog.
Although I really enjoyed the hard punk asthetic on Ceremony's last album, I don't think the different sound on 'Hysteria' is a bad direction, it's more hard rock than any other genre in my opinion, and I liked it. But, I did think it was a bit short and could have stayed for another minute or more, but there are a lot of good songs on albums that clock in at under a minute and still manage to keep the energy (Pink Flag). Good track though.
This is not bad, I agree that it was more "alt" rather than punk. I really think you should review Shlohmo's "wen uuu", if you can, but if you can't you should definitely check it out, I can't stop listening to it. I like track reviews because you go way more in depth.
honestly hate everything from rohnert park on. im not into newer hc bands doing throwbacks of old cali bands. i understand what they themselves say about experimenting and doing what they want creatively, but im really just not into any of it.
@CornadaTV actually, it's pronounced "nitch." I'd be happy if you'd look it up. Even use Google Translate and Type "nice" and click listen, or if you have a mic, say "niche" pronounced like "nitch" and it'll come up as "niche." I've tried, and I remember clearly learning it in an Honors English Class as compulsory vocabulary.
Rohner Park was the first needledrop review I watched. something about this track review feels full circle. WHY IS THIS CHANNEL SO IMPORTANT IN MY LIFE!??
all I could think of when I heard the track was that it sounds like it should be in some movie trailer or something...which is never something I expected from Ceremony. Curious to hear the rest of the album.
Anthony, please don't be sad about pronunciation issues. On the contrary! You're following in pronunciationmanual's footsteps! I hope that one day I will be able to hear you say "bepis".
Peace, man! I thought I'd make a recommendation for what you should review next. On January 24th, Schoolboy Q drops his HABITS and Contradictions album. As you probably already know, Schoolboy Q is a part of Top Dawg Ent. Black Hippy camp along with Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, and Absoul. Check it out, I've been waiting for this drop since mid-December, and I would love to hear what you think of this new project.
The song is definitely forgettable but I have high hopes for Zoo. The signing to Matador might bring out something different in the band. For those who haven't listened to Ceremony start with Still Nothing Moves You and if it's not your thing try Rohnert Park since it's a little easier to digest.
To me it sounds like a mix of 80's Brit punk with some 90's vocal's. Reminds me of a hardcore Greenday song (circa Dookie, their new ablums are awful.) Really digging it.
vox sound more johnny rotten on this song than they ever have through their past discography. sounds like an album opener, at least i hope it is. i don't listen to ceremony for anything complex, so i'm really loving the "wallingford american legion 15 year old angst" vibe of the song. i have a feeling it's the groovy opener, setting up a really brutal second track.

Well, I was getting pumped with the riff, but the vocals struck me as a pretty designed, despite their suggested chaos.
The album cover against that band name and track title is pretty sweet, and the lyrics work too.
But I'm not too into punk, I was ready to download with the riff and the drum mix, they lost me with the singing.
