I like what Val says here about the mechanics of punching, but the systema alternative is to start with a loose whipping action and at the last second having to assume the correct punching position. Which seems like a more difficult thing to accomplish without injury or losing effectiveness.
All you ever see of this "style" is instructional videos. Many of these "relaxed" moves require intricate motor skills that will be impossible in combat due to adrenaline. Many of the "moves" that do work under combat circumstances are not particularly different from those in Krav Maga, Eskrima, etc. So again, if you like the style then learn it. But stop with all the hype and magic punching.
This is excellent information and instruction, however, it is also something that has been addressed by many previously, Photographs show that Bruce Lee commonly used the last 3 knuckles (typical Wing Chun) because of the issues of alignment and allowing for a snapping at the end of a punch. Simultaneously, boxers and many other artists are taught the need to punch "through" the target and following through.
@NYWAORCANZ : I believe he would refute much of this style. What you are describing sounds like "pushing" rather than developing "tip of the bat" speed and power. I keep waiting to see Systema being used to defeat people in actual combat (UFC) and that has not happened. Only people who claim to train in Systema, but then fight using basic boxing and wrestling skills. "Absorb what is useful" -Bruce Lee
Have you done systema.Have you experinced it.I have.Systema has made me incredibly confident on the streets.I am a perfessional street performer performing for hundred of people every day.In a years time I would have been challanged alot
what I was discribing was not so much pushing but deep level touching
I would use the systema concepts agianst a boxer and I have already.I can explain that as well
systema allows you to fight on the non conscience levels.
@NYWAORCANZ : drunken assholes? really? that is how you describe Wendelai Silva? your an idiot. I don't care what Val was a champ of. has nothing to do with systema being used where people can see it. people use many things on the battlefield; doesn't mean its a "style" or superior to anything else. stop with the "magic" promises. just another gimmick with odd training forms to sell it. systema-ites still punch like everyone else.
@NYWAORCANZ : so because he finds people to take dives for him in a video, in predetermined staged fights you just lap it up like milk. That is sad, really. As you speak so highly about the use and history of this "style", how is it that we are only now just hearing about it? I'll tell you, because the country its from is financially and spiritually in ruin and full of mob types that have come up with this gimmick to make money. Enjoy.
another thing, you have never felt a systema punch
I have
Systema not only teach you have to punch but teaches you how to recover from a punch
Listen,Pal nothing I am going to say will convince you and I really don't care.
proof is in the pudding,right?
Simple take your large ass to a credifield systema instuctor and ask to be punched in the gut or chest and after you experince that feel free to take shit because you experinced it
@NYWAORCANZ : sure, and I invite you to go to a class and have someone like Mike Tyson punch you in the gut and see how you enjoy that. What a stupid argument you make. grow up. I'm not even saying that nothing is systema is useful, but it is NOT the "2nd coming" and it is very interesting that like "bigfoot", we hear a lot about it, we see people dancing around, but no actual video of it in unstaged combat where it can be proven.
@NYWAORCANZ : See, now you just lose credibility. The whole gay thing to invalidate another's style is just lame. If you wanna see gay, lets talk about a bunch of russian systema guys together in some camp with no women. or the ridiculous "dancing" around pretending to be hit. Most styles, especially boxing, teach how to avoid, deflect and absorb blows. Systema is about using armweight to punch, and fluid movement. Fine. In a couple years something new will come along and get all the glory.
@NYWAORCANZ : And a couple of your systema "champions" (if you can be a champion of something that only get talked about and not seen) spent a good amount of time in MMA lying between another man's legs. So I wouldn't go there. I would love to see you in a street fight that wasn't rehearsed against a good old LA mexican street fighter that drops knees on people's jaws. Your systema would likely end up bleeding out. Pfffft.
@NYWAORCANZ : look systema has nice "theories" but it is just another training technique. in combat people are still using old wrestling and boxing moves. all of the fancy dancing and catching guys arms when they punch only works in practice. Your comment about mexican street fighters just shows how arrogant and uneducated you are about fighting styles and why people fight. By all means keep wasting your time and money making ex soviets rich.
I see no real wisdom in their pride, prejudice, ego ,rage and jumpiness. It means nothing to me
I have already been in many street fights with the common street thugs.I was once afriad but now I feel nothing when I see them before me.I know I can make their organs shake with a couple of punches and all that jail bird tough puppy pride will just fade away like mist in the sunshine
"Worthy"? That's hilarious. You truly are bought and sold. Not to mention naive. The spirit of any art should always be one of givingand sharing. Again, my issue is the usefulness and originality of systema. Good luck with your little magic act. By the way, "fear" is not the issue when one has a permit to carry a firearm. And until you can catch a bullet in your teeth just keep quiet.
good stay with your gay homo "MMA" and use your gun that will only end you up in the bighouse doing pajama time eating from plastic trays and getting ass raped by a mexican gang members
You really are a pathetic faggot, and I don't study MMA genius; it was offered merely as a way of displaying systema's supposed value. And you are truly ignorant if you think a gun would get you in any more trouble than beating the hell out of someone as a trained fighter. I know a little about prison life and ass raping only happens if you want it too, which it sounds like you do. I've spoken directly to Val and he would not agree with your attitude at all. Punk bitch.
You realise Val has beeen teaching MMA guys.THey must find value in his teaching
Personally, puppy systema goes far beyond beating people up.It is a style that addresses the phyche and the spirt as well as the phyical and you don't have to memorize a long list of techniques when they cam naturally from the subconscious mind
However no need to explore what I am saying. You carry a gun, that is good enough for you
Val is a good teacher, but systema is not THE only thing one needs to know. Val would say that everything has purpose. I have studied a number of styles for 30 years I don't need you to define the mental aspects of the arts. All arts believe in training to the point of reflex. The "memorization" you speak of is only "forms" that are used for testing and preserving the art. You really are too ignorant to be taken seriously. go die somewhere.
Truth Val got into systema much afterwards from becoming a champion at both judo and sambo so he would not have wasted his time on something if he did not see the value in it.
Secound of all systema is for people that have already done all the others martail arts or simply do not care about fighting
Listen puppy carry a gun because that I think that would be the height of your spirtual needs
@MrSuperbombastik Who the f**k mentinoned Wanderlai Silva? No one called HIM a drunken ass hole! What's up with the aggrevated attitude? If you believe that Systema is crap then don't watch videos of it! And don't talk shit about something you really don't know anything about (referring to Systema). If you try it and still hate it, and can tell me why, then it's morehonest to make comments. You're welcome to visit us in Norway anytime...and NO that was NOT a threat, but a polite offer.
@MrSuperbombastik Actual combat??? And you suggest UFC?! UFC is sport and not combat! Systema is not a style, it's a methodology. We (yes I train Systema) emphasize on principles of relaxation, natural movement and breathing. Systema is not designed for the ring, but for improving health and to increase survival skills in real life scenarios. You must separate professional fighters (UFC) who train twice a day, and civilians or military personel who have limited time to train.
@SystemaNorway : yes yes, I hear these same excuses and arguments all the time from systema people. mean while they keep making all these claims while never proving anything. saying that ufc is a sport does nothing to reduce the value of every other style that has proven itself. in fact ufc began as a showcase for gracie jujitsu which is very effective in "real life scenarios", so give me a break. put up or shut up, but stop with all the claims until then.
@MrSuperbombastik There's really nothing I can say to make you understand since you obviously are determined to hate Systema.Try it before you trash talk it! If you actually saw the first UFC then you know that Royce Gracie was on the ground for like 15-20 minutes at the time, and that was against only ONE oppononent. That is NOT how you'd want to fight in the street! BJJ may be good in the streets but the first UFC does not prove that.
I like what Val says here about the mechanics of punching, but the systema alternative is to start with a loose whipping action and at the last second having to assume the correct punching position. Which seems like a more difficult thing to accomplish without injury or losing effectiveness.

The teachings of life must be repeated again and again, for there are always new people being born who haven't heard them.

@MrSuperbombastik
I believe if Bruce lee was alive ,he would enjoy these systema guys
in the ballistic strike, the punch sinks in the body to shake up the oragns. The arms are relaxed with out tension
their one inch punch is produced by pushing in until you feel the muscle wall then you press sharply in as it is was a type of button switch.

Personally I hope systema stay far more underground.
I really don't want systema to be viewed by the drunken assholes in the bars on paper view TV
By the way Val was a Judo and Sambo champ and an ex KGB officer.
Both Mikhail and Valdimir used ther systema in the battle field where people don't just get hurt, they get killed
UFC is not the end all be all.It had it's importance in the 1990's but now systema is the next step in evolution

I am not speaking of the disicipled athletes that complete wnd comitted their lives to their sport
I am speaking of the common redneck drunking alcoholics found in the bars watching paperview who think they desire voilence
Listen Pal ,Systema is nothing new just new to the mainstream martial art community
Systema has been around since the 10th century.Do you research Pal.
In Val's 3rd DVD he is teaching a man your size and he takes on three MMA guys at once

sure systema is not the secound comming if at all there was a 1st comming
Personally, I have had many boxers punch me in the gut..Big deal
systema teaches you have to recover from and it teaches you how to take away the power of a punch
you know what I see when I watch MMA I see a man spending more time inbetween another man' legs then his woman's legs if he has a woman
MMA looks like angry gay foreplay to sweaty gay man sex.

they stress learning how to move over techniques
What ever jumping hot headed LA mexican street fighter lost in their pride and ego mean nothing to me.
