Amazing ride! Very balanced and relaxed horse. He lacked the American "1mph" lope and to be honest it looked fabulous! This horse would do well at shows in the US and possibly even the World show. I would have liked to see the rider keep his free arm a bit more still, but hey, it's not horsemanship. Loved the praise he gave his horse after their great ride (:

well, it's anything but simple. it takes SO much obedience, discipline, and balance to do all that. I sure do like to see the rider praising the horse like he did. I wish more western riders would do that in America... most of them just finish and walk out without petting them. I think that a little praise goes a LONG way!

@matrixmare Well a lot of people in the Quarter Horse industry have their noses too high in the air. It's hard to look up and pet your horse at the same time. HAHA! Sorry for the sarcasm. There is soooo much money, and a horse is just a small price to them. I've been around the Quarter Horse industry since I was born, have showed many shows and have gone to the Congress more than I can count. Showing in those arenas is an honor, but to them it's just business.

This is a trail class. A pattern is set up and the rider is told when to walk, trot (jog), canter(lope), and sometimes hand gallop during the course. He actually wasn't going THAT slow...

I am from europe but I consider that this should be the real horse dressage. Compared to this, the classic english / spanish dressage looks like Inquisition torture.

It maybe LOOKS like it's torture, But it is not. The rider and trainer must have trained MUCH horsemanship to get on to GP level. (sorry bad english, im norwegian)

Indeed, I said it only looks like it :) Simply because you see, in this video the horse seems so relaxed, whereas in the clasic spanish dressage for example every inch of its body is tense. I might be wrong though.

In dressage horses should be relaxed while those performing the exercise. The horse should also be collected, and it is perhaps why it looks as if it is strained.The horse will still have a lot of energy, but at the same time be relaxed. But I agree, there are too many who do not treat their horses well, and have completely forgotten what dressage is like. :)

Not too bad, the worst was the back up thats why your horse needs to back off your spur. This is the average course that we are getting at AQHA shows now, Great horse though did well with all of the lope overs except one.

Nice video, and nice horse. A few rider errors in there but the horse was superb! The course is a little wimpy looking compared to all the "stuff" in US courses, but it was pretty difficult with so many turns and lope-overs. The banners for McDonalds, Jack Daniels, and Farnam cracked me up!
