My sister bought one and the salesman told her it was a 75 or 76 (whichever year they started with unleaded fuel). She put unleaded in it for a year and the friggin thing died. Had she lived near by I'd have known better and told her.
Her's was deeper maroon with a white landau with moon roof.
Being an owner of a dual quad, punched out big block 74 Monte and an LS6 powered 86 SS, both of which annihilate rear rubber, I hate to nitpick. Your burnout was started on water. My 74, especially with the long wheelbase, boils both tires on dry pavement and will NOT stay in a straight line. You do have a nice car, though. Big block is the way to go. A ton and a half car needs the torque of a big block to get it off the line. I wore the factory 350 slap out of it.
gah i miss my 77. i was 18 when i got it and knew nothing about cars. it would burnout straight smoke for 1/16 mile. it was primer black with red velvet interior. i blew a freeze plug, kept driving, locked the engine and junked it.
WOW! Whats your 60 foot time? 3.00 seconds at best? I'm 42 years old and owned a 1976 Pontiac grand prix. At least that had a real engine-455pontiac V8. My Subaru WRX STi does low 13's stock, and doesn't require me to run to autozone every other week to buy a part for it.
i want that sweet as buick in the back ground .love the buick had one that i stuck a stock 430 buick in and a rear end out of a cop car 308 posi and it would fry tire allday with no water ..love the big gm b bodys .need more then a 350 in that monte to make her run great . looks like it runs good .but go big block in the big gms ...
A brake stand IS a type of burnout. Ever heard of burnout competitions? That's what they do... line lock on the front brakes, then burn out the rear tires until they are nearly on fire.
well if u can do it why do u need the ground to b wet. my stock 86 regal can smoke up a whole parking lot and thats on completely dry concrete . nice ass car though.
2nd gen Monte's are the best. I'm the proud owner of a '77, I wouldn't get rid of that thing for anything. It was my first car and it will probably be my last.
Mine is a 75 Monte Carlo, and I love smoking ricers. I have a 383 stroker putting out 430 HP. and a 6 speed automatic that will bark the tires through the first 3 shifts. It's a total sleeper, no indications of power visible from the outside.
ha, you wish you could smoke a ricer. I love old cars, and we own a few old muscle cars of our own but.....I have a 1994 Honda Civic 1.6L 15B engine, duel over head cams.....It can beat our 1988 cutlass supreme effortlessly, and our our 1976 Buick Century (they both have a 5.7L V8 4bbl. The only muscle car we own that can keep up for a little while is my dads 1970 Pontiac Lemans, it has a 454 edelbrock cams, lifters, 700r turbo stage-2 shifter, posi rear end, 373 gearing, and a 850 double pump.
If a 1970 Pontiac Lemans with a 454 can "keep up" with your Civic, then my Monte Carlo would EASILY smoke your rice for dinner. Check out my videos if you haven't done so already. Mine is FAR from stock.
i have a 77 monte carlo with a 305. it has heads from an 82 chevy truck, an rv cam, and the stock intake with a 2 barrel. it can spin the tires in 2nd gear and can beat an acura 3.0 cl. i built the motor from patrs that i had laying around. its very fast.
GAWD DANG IT! That's a gorgeous Monti Carlo.

That's not a BURN OUT, it's a BRAKE STAND.
Do it without applying the brakes - that's how you do a BURN OUT.
