actually it looks the same as the games BEFORE world of warcraft, WoW wasn't the first game with that UI, believe it or not but WoW is a top-notch ripoff from the early mmo's just like all the new games are, it's almost impossible to make something truly unique these days.

I think it is much better than WoW personally. It took some getting used to, but once you are away from WoW for a few months it's hard to go back to because you realize how dated it is. The only draw to WoW for me is friends that still play there but don't play LOTRO.

You have to have an account online. You also have to have a game key to play which you put in your account online. This game costs $15 a month unless you are on a trial. You are a delicate genious aren't you hehehe :)

@monnie110 After long waiting, on 10 september launched the free LOTRO. That is great for people that were running off because they had to pay. Only downside is the lag on the servers due to high population that greedily enjoyed the awesome content.

I like the music system in the game, not too tough to pick up. And as far as what people are saying regarding LOTRO, WoW, Asheron's Call etc...Strictly speaking of MMO's, Asheron's Call is the earlier and yes was developed by Turbine who also develops LOTRO. Regarding the fantasy genre of literature, games, film, etc... Tolkien was the pioneer creating the Elves, Dwarves, Hobbits, and many other things..

Actually it's based on the book, because you see elements of the story in LotRO that was left out of the movie, and yes everyone knows the ending, but it's not about that, you get to explore beyond what you see/read in the book and movie

I think WoW is so lame since its allmoust only end game based all you do is trying to get to 70 so you can get the good tier gear. But in LOTRO you follow a history all the way and its much more fun that way;) i myself only playd a burglar to lvl 17 i had some guardians to lvl 11 and stuff but my best is lvl 17.. in WoW ive had lots of 70s and lvling them is NOT fun at ALL... I will buy Age of Conan when that comes though. Just CAN'T wait ;P

Yeah this game is so mucg better than WoW in some ways, it has much better graphics, more roleplaying-stuff, like houses and instruments and its LotR so its Middle Earth. Wich is really cool and a great story lies behind it.

Hmm there isn't lag when you push the keys... What you experience is "forced lag" (LOL).. It's where the server doesn't let you do a bunch of things at once. This is done so that you as a player would cause less lag. Compared to the thousands others playing on your server. Happens to me all the time when i try playing the flute. GJ with the music

Warcraft has a story I'll give them that. But it's ludicrous to compare Warcraft's story to LotR story. LotR is widely considered to be the greatest fantasy tale of all time, selling millions upon millions of copies of books.
