Great video. I was raised in 29 Palms so I had two great options. Could head to Palm Springs to get the UP (ex SP) or to Amboy (old route 66) to go to Vegas or catch I-40 to get BNSF (ex ATSF). Lots of memories and locations to catch trains
Awesome videos! I was stationed at USMC 29 Palms and loved watching trains passing through Cabazon and Beaumont back in the mid-90s when SP still dominated.
well you were lucky.......I was stationed in pendleton and San Diego/Orange County railroading sucks........it wasnt until I started going to the LA region that I saw good action.
LA does have great railroad action. I just got back from SoCal and spent 3 hours in Fullerton, CA near the old MCAS El Toro. I lost track of how many trains rolled by.
Diesel-electric, two-cycle in the EMD products and four-cycle in the GE units. All are in the 4000HP+ range. Some have AC traction motors, some have DC traction motors. The last unit seen is in Distributed Power mode - robot-slave.
would a coal train make it up beaumont?

i live in central califorina area not too many trains come by mostly amtrak and fraight trains come by
