pharmacologically speaking, there is no such thing as a drug without side effects at therapeutic levels. but there are many medications that are widely used and are much more dangerous than weed. marijuana should be legal and used the same as any other therapeutic substance, but we cant pretend there are no potential risks. even if psychosis is seen in only 1/10000000 people, that 1 person could be you or a loved one. but that 1 should also not prevent the others from receiving its benefits.

You take 15 vicodins and that will be your last headache, but i bet the fat guy in the blue still thinks Marijuana is worse. Data my asss, if he could actually understand the data he was seeing, (which from this video, I doubt he's smart enough) he would see that the benefits far outweigh the microscopic cons.
And psychotic episodes? My wife gets those every month...
@deanerhar you've obviously never done pain killers, ive taken 9 Roxy 30's in a 24 hour period and I was fine. Don't talk about something unless you know you stuff.
@grenickddy sure 15 vic's ain't gonna kill you, at least not someone that is opiate tolerant. I have lost three very close friends that all thought they were invincible guess what they found out the hard way.I also know a girl that took two methadone 10's first time taking pills and never woke up.Saying that it is ok to take 9 roxy's 30's in a day is just plain fucked up? Sorry If I offend you,but with A little more life experience you will understand. I year clean myself and thankful everyday
@gyselboy I didn't say it was ok to take that many in 1 day, just sharing my experience, i've been sober myself now for 6 months and trust me, i'd rather be sober than wake up in pain everyday wonderin how i'm gunna get my fix, it blows, thats why i thank god i'm not doing that shit anymore
@dsteve85 I think it's gonna be okay cuhz people can grow their own and it's 600x's easyier then growning tabacco lol they're way too many weed activist to let companys put bullshit in they're weed...
@ColeMiddleton1 Well, it all depends on how often you use it, and on how fast your metabolism works. But it is fat soluble, that's why you need to mix it with oils to put it in brownies and other food. Try putting it into a cup of water, mix it around, and you'll see that it all sinks to the bottom. That's what it means to be insoluble in water. Still, once its stored in fat cells, its already INACTIVED by the liver, so it has no more effects at that point. Legalize it.
also if its legalized, big companies are jus gonna buy the rights off farmers and and put junk in it to make it addictive. i mean look at all the shit in tobacco.
you can buy all sorts of drugs that can really fuck you up at your local CVS which you can get by buying legally, but for some reason everyone makes a big deal about marijuana. marijuana is probably about as bad for you as coffee which almost every "decent" adult is addicted to; but your parents probably don't make a big deal about cofee do they? no, because it's not THAT bad for you. My point is, people make a big deal about marijuana when it is really nothing compared to the legal stuff.
@numnutth i couldnt agree with you more.... i got knee surgery one year and the doc gave me oxycontin and i must say that crap had me on cloud nine and i did it nice and legally.
I'd WAY rather be "addicted" to weed than adderal or oxycontin. Ever seen a person with amphetamine psychosis? I have. They're possessed!! I can't believe these slimy anti-weed people!!! They're is nothing wrong with a bit of grass AT all. But i don't endorse minors using it who are healthy. Which brings us to obvious fact that DRUG DEALERS DON'T GIVE A SHIT HOW OLD YOUR KIDS ARE!!! That's why we need to legalize it NOW!
fuck da police im young n smoke n i coulnt go 2 jail cuz wen i got cought i was 2 young....i never harmed or stolen i waz just trying to ease my mind for a problem tat a real criminal who never got cought broke into my house n stole all my shit! but now we i try 2 relax cops can get me but not him ass...fuck dat legalize n just leave us da hell alone...ive smoked 4 over 2 n half years n my stamana actually iz better cuz ive been workin out wile i smoke...so all diz iz bull! we need it...LEGALIZE
I think marijuana should be legal. States would be saving millions of dallors every year. The only thing is that i feel its the worst thing for minors ! I would know. When in your growing state and using the drug you dont think right at all & you grow up pretty much scarred.
i love how the anti-weed guy had the weakest points and really had no truthful way of debating the facts that the pro-weed guy was giving. legalize!!!
That dumb ass woman talking about the evils of marijuana then when asked why its evil she dont have a damn thing to say except i dont know, i hate people who label things they dont know shit about...
the GATEWAY DRUG theory is complete bullshit... ever since the Netherlands legalized marijuana... they have seen a large decrease in the number of hard drug users... cocaine, heroine, meth etc
this guy who is against marijuana is a DUMBASS. he doesnt understand that marijuana is safer then other drugs such as perscription meds such as pain killers! if theres a natural back-up then why not use the hell out of it?!?!
We must and will eventually be legal. We just need the idiots in power to be kicked out and logical thinkers be instated. Until then, the government and our police will continue to ruin the lives of victim less criminals.
I can't shake the feeling that Dr. Kleber is yet another mole for the pharmaceutical industry. The issue isn't simply "does marijuana has negative side effects we should be concerned about?" What needs to be questioned is what the side effects of marijuana are compared to RX drugs like opiates, non cannabinoid antinausea drug. Though I'd be willing to be bet that Dr. Kleber likes the idea of synthesized cannabinoid drugs, because he's a pharmaceutical sycophant.
i like how they both use data to support their argument, i wouldn't doubt it's the same data too, just goes to show that analyzing data is just as important as having it
except for that animal studies comment, that just sounded stupid as hell, and the psychosis in adolescents...wtf why do we want anyone young getting high anyway unless its for some medical reason, I'd say aderol(aderal maybe im horrible at spelling) can bring on some crazy stuff too and we feed it to kids like suar pills
Gateway drug for animals??!! So after the hamster smokes weed, it goes out and looks for a coke dealer??!!
The anti-legalization arguments are getting pretty ridiculous. Saying that weed is a gateway implies that the user has the capacity for abstract thought - and for them to say that that theory is proven in animals??!! -Ludicrous
These assholes are just arguing for the pharmaceutical industry. It's much harder to charge money for shit that someone can grow in their back yard, and to open a market in which other companies may be able to compete with you with little financial overhead. It is a monopoly-breaking drug; this is a good thing, medically and economically, IMHO.
I heard that medical marihuana and an SSI check is a sure fire treatment for the symptoms of Industrial Disease too. Opiates were also used in China for centuries. Let the people self medicate.
Good point, but if marijuana were legalized, people wouldn't have to grow it themselves nearly as much. It's like people who used to make their own alcohol, now they don't have to because it's so easy to access. I'm all for the legalization of marijuana and I've never smoked once in my life. If energy drinks and alcohol are legally sold in the same can, how can the government possibly claim to worry that marijuana may be bad for us...
the debate goes on and on and on...when r people gona wake the fuck up?! 100 times safer then booze. Doesn't make u beat your girlfriend or have gnarly hangovers. wtf is wrong with america?
Doctor fatso making an argument against Marijuana, replace the word Marijuana with any pain killer, you find similar problems, chances are Dr fatso gets paid from some pharmaceutical company, I have no use for Marijuana but I think Dr fatso is a psycho bubble.
I agree with UFCaz,Straylkon, and anybody else that thinks this bebate is getting old ~ legalize it already!!! The crime rate involved with it still being illegal would go down too.
People are arguing over the wrong points. If we keep up the comparison to alcohol and tobacco we will eventually lose those as well. It doesn't matter if it is bad for you or causes psychosis, its about choice.
wow shocking to see that the former george bush the first assistant drug czar is pushing abstinence and a status quo for the so called negative consequences of maraijuana. go figure. earleywine is right and if you have any desire to learn reality and don't want to live like alice in wonderland buy understanding marijuana by dr. earlywine. psychology researchers are actually interested in science where as psychiatry doctors are interested in handing out papers for drugs. let's get real.
It's all about money. The reason hemp is illegal in the first place is because people like William Randolf Hearst signed contracts with the USDA Forest Service to provide the paper for his news. Suddenly, the hemp industry was about to provide paper at a much cheaper price to his competitors so Hearst and others launched a propaganda campaign (Reefer Madness) and lobbied Congress to make it illegal in every form.
Izadorra, it is all about people with power and control maintaining power and control. Its the same reason the gov. is making no real effort to displace gas consumption.
California charges a 7.25 percent sales tax, on top of the excise taxes on each gallon of gas — 18.4 cents, federal, and 18 cents, state.
Higher gas demand/prices mean more tax revenue... whereas alt. energy would be harder or even impossible to tax in such a way. No 37 cents a gallon if your car runs on water or elec..
Even though marijuana is illegal millions of people use marijuana everyday. It is obvious prohibition doesn't work and it is a waste of government resources.
It is so easy to obtain anyone who wants it can already get it. So I seriously doubt making it legal will encourage new-users.
However, the gov. will stand to lose billions of dollars (fines) and the loss of law- enforcement jobs and funding... that is the real obstacle to legalization. It's all about keeping the gov. in business.
I don't think the lost revenue in fines or law enforcement jobs are the main obstacle. The gov't would make bank in tax revenue and law enforcement would be able to actually go after dangerous, violent criminals. Plus taxpayers would save money on corrections.
I think the real obstacle, aside from antiquated beliefs, is the alcohol and tobacco companies. Right now they have the legal intoxicant market cornered and they don't want to see any of their revenue go up in smoke, so to speak.
But you are thinking in the context that the gov. wants to save money and go after real criminals when pot interdiction is easier. When has the gov. ever looked after the interests of the taxpayer?
Furthermore, why would anyone go out and buy highly taxed pot, when the plant is ridiculously easy to grow? There would be little or no tax revenue. The gov. knows this. They are not going to legalize when they are making so much money in fines.
If you want to know some truth about medical marijuana rather then the misleading half truths and scare tactics spewed by Herbert Kleber go to munkesten1 Youtube page and search Waiting To Inhale.
Where did the rest of Dr. Earleywine's rebuttals go? It is obvious that they were cut out. Bulsh#t!!! I am ultra pissed off about this one sided, censored piece of crap.
He dismissed the assertion that marijuana does not have to be smoked. And what drug doesnt have side effects? People want marijuana to be as safe as water before they give it a chance, while aspirin and the like kills thousands a year. Viagra, for example, is likely to give one a heart attack.
One important point imo (which was totally overlooked) is that if the law were to treat marijuana as alcohol currently is, then it would finally be used in food, eliminating lung related health concerns.

Why didn't you talk about all of the prescription drugs that kill millions of people everyday?
The drugs that the doctors give you are not safe. If you take them for any length of time they will kill you.

Great Debate.
We need more debates like this if we as a State want to seriously talk about Legalizing it.

To the WORLD
This morning I sat down in five hotels writing about GOD,LOVE & WORLD PEACE in 11 languages & handing my works over to 10 glorious individuals representing 7 nations.
4 of them were in the investment sector & adore my partners Albert Arnold Gore Jr (Al Gore) & Sir Richard Branson. Google those names with World Peace.
I shall continue for PEACE is what most of the world desires.
I enjoy Manhattan for its diversity & being wired to the internet & google.
