  • this is completely incorrect.

quoted from my clinicals skills booklet ==>

    "

... makes patient sit up. twp techniques are possible:

    1. locate renal angle (between 12th rib and lateral border of the vertebral column). using moderate force, punch patient on renal angle with the ulnar surface of the clenched fist of one hand

    2. dr places FINGERS of one hand over renal angle. using moderate force, dr punches dorsal surface of own fingers with the ulnar surface of clenched fist of the other hand "

  • there is a murphy's sign, a test for the inflammation of the gallbladder. But this video probably is best labelled as murphy's (kidney) punch sign, but it doesn't show exactly the proper procedure our mentors taught us, it's probably a variation of it.

  • murphys in a test foe the inflammaton of the gall baldder not the appendix !

  • I'm not sure what this video is showing - murphy's sign is to test for appendicitis.

  • It's a renal Murphy sign. It gives you some sense of the state of the kidney during physical examinations. What it means exactly, I do not know...

  • as far as I know, there is 2 Murphy's: 1 to test inflamation of gall bladder, the other is the Renal Murphy.
