Thank You! I started just by hanging on for dear life and counting to 10. That was my first move...pretty pathetic! If you keep at it and watch some of the videos on you-tube you'll get the hang of it pretty quick. Studio Veena and Polejunkies forum are great forums to check out--everybody is super friendly on both places, nobody is snarky or anything! When you get brave, post a vid--even if it's on the camera phone and only a few seconds long, LOL!

I'd like to learn to do this, but figure I might end up just clinging to the pole for dear life myself! lol. I was wondering, where did you get the pole platform from?
The base is a small piece of plywood from the craft store--basically the kind used for mounting plaques or trophies. The entire pole is homemade. ALthough the videos are a bit disorganized, most of the process of making them is documented in a series of videos from July in 2008. There is another video around December 2008 that documents the building of the larger 50MM pole. It's all hardware store parts--less than $100 total--although I did have to buy a tubing cutter tool for $25.

I'm mostly interested in the fitness and gymnastic aspect of it for myself anyway...the "dance" was really just a way to tip the hat to the great women on You-Tube who have helped me learn the gymnastic moves. They are the truly great dancers and I owe them a debt of gratitude!!!

It's not really a statement about sexual orientation--it's just poling. That being said, if you happen to be straight, I think you'll find the ladies really like a man who can dance! Well, this video with the suit and tie was really just for fun. I can't really dance at all. But I began doing the pole fitness and gymnastics moves partly because Ihad made so many comments on the lady pole dancers on You-Tube. I thought I should be able to walk the walk if I was going to talk the talk! ACtually there are MANY male polers out there. Some of them are actually unbelievably good. Men pole dancing is kind of old news now!

There are two reputable models of portable poles that can be installed and removed quickly. They are the Platinum Stages and the X-pole. Google them on your search engine and you will find both of their web-sites. My pole is a homemade one constructed from construction hardware--but I actually do not recommend this. A proper pole and lessons are a better idea for a beginner!

Hey, we have a band in common. I am also a big fan of Neko Case--the sometimes lead singer of your favorite band, the New Pornographers. Neko has played at my "home" club--Fitzgeralds, in Berwyn, Illinois--just down the street. Her solo work is mostly alt country stuff--I haven't seen her with the band. But I love that she plays a four string treble electric guitar.
Actually, the sheets are my pathetic attempt to have a more professional background neutral to the colored pixels in the camera. There are no windows at all behind the curtain--just those cinder block thingies that cannot be seen through at all. But there is a whole pile of junk behind them and the curtain does a good job of hiding my very messy basement! My poling isn't a secret, everybody knows about it. People who pole come in both genders and both orientations--straight, gay, male, female, whatever. Thanks, Locust...surprisingly, I don't usually get very many nasty comments like this one from Deadhead. QUite a few men pole in Britain and Australia. I'm mostly interested in the fitness and gymnastic aspect of it for myself anyway...the "dance" was really just a way to tip the hat to the great women on You-Tube who have helped me learn the gymnastic moves. They are the truly great dancers and I owe them a debt of gratitude!!!

It's not really a statement about sexual orientation--it's just poling. That being said, if you happen to be straight, I think you'll find the ladies really like a man who can dance! Donno if anyone asked this before: Why would a guy learn pole dancing? (My guess is you want to impress your wife, maybe teach her a few tricks :D )

Well, this video with the suit and tie was really just for fun. I can't really dance at all. But I began doing the pole fitness and gymnastics moves partly because Ihad made so many comments on the lady pole dancers on You-Tube. I thought I should be able to walk the walk if I was going to talk the talk! ACtually there are MANY male polers out there. Some of them are actually unbelievably good. Men pole dancing is kind of old news now!

There are two reputable models of portable poles that can be installed and removed quickly. They are the Platinum Stages and the X-pole. Google them on your search engine and you will find both of their web-sites. My pole is a homemade one constructed from construction hardware--but I actually do not recommend this. A proper pole and lessons are a better idea for a beginner!

Hey, we have a band in common. I am also a big fan of Neko Case--the sometimes lead singer of your favorite band, the New Pornographers. Neko has played at my "home" club--Fitzgeralds, in Berwyn, Illinois--just down the street. Her solo work is mostly alt country stuff--I haven't seen her with the band. But I love that she plays a four string treble electric guitar.

Actually, the sheets are my pathetic attempt to have a more professional background neutral to the colored pixels in the camera. There are no windows at all behind the curtain--just those cinder block thingies that cannot be seen through at all. But there is a whole pile of junk behind them and the curtain does a good job of hiding my very messy basement! My poling isn't a secret, everybody knows about it. Thanks for watching and enjoying my video. Just to correct the record, my poling has nothing to do with my sexual orientation. People who pole come in both genders and both orientations--straight, gay, male, female, whatever. It's a great sport--perfect for building core strength and learning dance moves, if you are so inclined. I'm not really much of a dancer, this was just for fun.
