Aside from Sheldon being a TV show character, where in the bible does it say the world is round? And if it said it explicitly why did the church keep with the idea of a flat earth for hundreds of years? I put it to you that you cannot provide proof for the truth of the bible, the existence of God or even an explicit verse that says the earth is a sphere

@theothertroll The Bible does NOT state that the earth is round. The way apologists FORCE that interpretation is from Isaiah 40:22, where God is said to sit "above the circle of the earth". As common sense should tell you, a circle does not necessarily mean spherical (i.e. round). Circles are generally flat. Plus the Bible explicitly talks about the "four corners" of the earth (Revelation 7:1) and the "ends of the earth" (Job 38:13), thus the Biblical view of the earth IS FLAT (continued)

@theothertroll (continued from previous response) Furthermore, the Bible is pretty clear that it believes the earth is a stationary object, resting on pillars (Job 9:6), and that the sun and stars move around it (Psalm 104:5, Psalm 93:1). Hence, Sheldon, IF he does represent an atheistic scientist, is right to treat Biblical literalists with derision, because they take a book literally, which is patently unscientific and false. If anyone is stupid, they are.

@theothertroll And to you, I am a Christian as well, but being a true Christian means you don't rub that fact into faces of Atheists, Jews, Muslims, Budhists, etc. because that is not what god wants you to do. God would also not like you cussing everyone out. Be a right and good Christian and God will reward you greatly in the Afterlife :)
