This is OBVIOUSLY the bad ending - Simon keeps going beyond the impossible and kills the universe like the anti-spirals said he would.

The only other possible event I can think of is that this would be what Simon acted like had Kamina never existed to be his role model. Boota had to stay human to fill the gap, and Simon became much more arrogant!

This scene was supposed to be an alternate dimension of TTGL meaning one of those scenes in episode 26 when they were dreaming of "what if" lives. Gainax is well-known to put up big plotholes like this(eva, flcl anyone?). When TTGL was showing in japan the story were not even scripted/made yet. as the director of the show stated that TTGL was meant to be a comedy show e much like the Kamina days of the story. but then they decide to set the story into more serious side, thus making it better.

I think this is all part of the Alternate Reality thing from Episode 26.

Boota appears in this one, and in the Alternate-Reality Dimension, Boota is in space when he notices Simon and the rest getting out of there and goes off to join them.

Also, you can only see the Chouginga Dai-Gurren, instead of the Chouginga Gurren-Lagann as you probably should see at this point.

So like I said, I think its just Boota's imagination.

This was already proven to be an alternate reality in episode 26, this scene is shown in one of the rays of light in the alternate universe the Anti-Spiral trapped everyone in. There's even an alternate reality showing Simon and Leeron kissing.

Plus, the Hyper Galaxy Gurren is shaped differently, right down to the bow.

In the DVD commentary for this scene, Kamina's VA makes a remark about him being Simon's voice, just for this scene. Simon's VA then goes on to explain that this Simon is one in a far off dream. I don't even know if that video is still up, but I'm not even going to bother searching for it since I don't care if you believe me or not.

Final Simon grows up to be the anime equivalent of the Norse god Odin, only with drills. Seriously. Look it up. It was left open enough that Gainax could easily add this sequence to the story with an OVa, and the ending we got was 50000X more epic.

Not sure what people are complaining about, there's more than enough room for this to fit in between the ending of Ep 27 and the "epilogue". In fact I would say that it's heavily hinted at that this occurs in that time frame, why would they hold assembly for galactic peace unless there had been some sort of conflict between before hand?

The conflict was shown, it's the fight aganst the Anti-Spiral. After the fight, when Simon and Nia are sitting there in Lagann, Rossiu clearly said that many other planets are calling for appreciation or something. s for the Galactic peace, I believe it's to prevent the Spiral Nemesis.

I thought this scene would be included in the 20 years time-skip, too...But think about it, after the anti-Spiral is destoryed, what other big things can they be fighting for?
