The *only* reason he was champion of any-fucking thing is because you were him as a playable character. Go play Red/Blue/Yellow and every time you go to a gym, read the statue. My theory of red, he is jsut epic. Battling is in his blood, but because so many trainers arnt worthy he spends his time training on Mt Silver, jsut geting better, eventully gaining the skill to judge his opponets skills, and for the most part, i think he lets gold/crystal win in the games just so the kids could gain fame, first time i faced him i nearly took out his pikachu, then i loss.

It's hard to believe just how many year passed while he trained in that cave. It's pretty obvious that over time, Red learned to care for Pokemon rather than having them fight battle after battle just to beat his rival, Blue. Training in Crystal Cave, he soon found value in the relationships he formed with his Pokemon, and in the end, could not bring himself to use his full potential against Gold, and threw the match because he didn't want to see any more hurt Pokemon, like hamdan said himself.

Then I saw one man standing in the distance...one man who would dare stand in my way, in between me and my destiny. That man was RED. I got excited at first and was jittery to begin the battle that would surely test my limits as a Pokemon Trainer and also push my Pokemon, themselves tot heir limits, after countless shots back and forth, it was down to his Charizard and my Typhlosion. who wins?
