Just pick whatever you're most comfortable with based on your style of racing. I also mainly play with Grinder because some flying and speed shortcuts are faster than others, and I like to have more options. But I think almost every board has potential to be just as fast as any other. It takes practice more than anything.

I'm not going to lie, I DID suck at this game the 1-2 times I picked it up, but the general consensus that I've built up is that Super Sonic IS the ultimate unlockable, once you get him, it means you're so good you deserve the boosts he gives. I don't know how this applies to Riders, I imagine he has the top speed or top acceleration or some stat that is unique to him, yes?

Well, I think he sucks because he's just not what he should be. At the very least, he should have the longest dash time in the game, yet he has the shortest. And running on rings puts him at such a disadvantage. While everyone else running on air can recover air by doing tricks and taking shortcuts, he's stuck with relying ONLY on item boxes and loose rings. I can travel in a constant boost with anybody else in the game on almost every level. That's nearly impossible with SS.
@brandonbear1 He's SUPER Sonic, he's supposed to be overkill. And his top speed is the same as everyone elses. He just doesn't have to work for it like everyone else does. But every other character still outclasses him at lvl 3, simply because they don't have to boost as much as he does to maintain a speed of 250.

They could have at least made his boost speed faster than everybody elses, or even last longer. He's not significantly fast. I can take the slowest character in the game, and get a faster time than this. Heck, I think my fastest time without the High Booster board is Eggman with about 1:52. If they want to make him a fair char, then at least make him good.
You can actually shave off a few seconds with Super Sonic by hanging to the far right at 0:38 to take the Power character path. You'll smash through the cars giving a slight speed boost, and you'll bypass that little turn you'd have to make if you took the main road.
I know that, but that shortcut won't be worth it in the longrun, because I'll miss the 20 ring item box I can get from going the regular way. I'll run out of rings if I don't get every ring item box available on the course. I tried every other way possible before recording, and this was my fastest time.
Yeah, but stats don't mean squat in this game if you know how to properly air slide and travel through the entire course in an almost constant boost. Not only that, but Super Sonic has the shortest boosting time in the entire game. Tails, Aiai, and Shadow are probably the 3 best characters in the game, because they have the longest boosting time. Any one of them with Shadow's skates is the best you can get....other than the High Booster board, of course.
I wasn't trying to get THE fastest time, I was going for the fastest time with Super Sonic. My fastest is actually 1:39:20 with AiAi, which I also have a vid of, so don't think your time is all that impressive. Even my time is actually pretty slow.
Naw, I just think he realized how insufficient such a technique like that really is. Although, if that's his way of cheating, I'd really like to see it actually work.
When you're consuming rings as you go, you can't gain rings as fast as any other character, unless you get the 100 ring item box. It's a LOT faster to just air slide and dash, than it is to go offtrack for the sake of hitting a wall, realign yourself with the course, then dash. If a speed of 250 is too fast for you to keep up, then you just need to practice. If you think that's fast, try traveling at a speed of 350 with the High Booster board and staying on the track like I did in my other vids.
from the look of this video i would say u have no reason to criticize super sonic, who cares if u dont get the lowest time of all ur scores w/ him, if u can leave all ur opponents in the dust halfway back on the track from u
This is true, however, if a faster time can be achieved with a different character, it clearly shows that any character is capable of catching up, and passing Super Sonic. Super Sonic has a advantage at the beginning of any race, he can't maintain that lead for the duration of the entire race without first running out of rings. Being able to conserve rings is what slows him down as a consistent racer.
This Super Sonic is probably better that Zero Gravity's Super Sonic. When you use him, He takes up ALL of your rings when he needs to do a sharp turn. Those robots are better than he is.
if u think he sucks in sr:Zg he is worse he cant punch fly or grindu even have to use rings for everything even gravity control and dive and when u get a cartain amout of rings u go faster but doubles the speed ur rings get taken away
To get them you have to complete Jet, Wave and Storms missions and ITS SO HARD but i got then and its a boy a monkey and a girl.(Nights, Aiai and, Ulala)
I spent a few weeks on the missions to get freakin Super Sonic. He runs off of rings like in every other Sonic game, except he SUCKS here because in Riders, AIR IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN RINGS, and the rings are harder to get. Air does nothing for him, so tricking is useless. The way to fix that and make him awesome would have been to have his tricks and air convert into rings as Super Sonic. But no, you spend forever unlocking him, in order for Sega to stab you in the face.

I'm sure there are better videos on Youtube than yours, maybe you really do suck. I'm not going to lie, I DID suck at this game the 1-2 times I picked it up, but the general consensus that I've built up is that Super Sonic IS the ultimate unlockable, once you get him, it means you're so good you deserve the boosts he gives. I don't know how this applies to Riders, I imagine he has the top speed or top acceleration or some stat that is unique to him, yes?

And I agree with you, Super Sonic SHOULD be the ultimate unlockable and you do deserve what he offers. However, in this game, he has absolutely nothing that makes him so deserving. His top speed and acceleration is the same as every other character, and he has literally the WORST boost in the game. I honestly do believe Tails is the best char in this game.

You can't use boots with Super Sonic. When selecting your board, you have to select the chaos emerald, and it gives you Sonic's default board.

Well, I think he sucks because he's just not what he should be. At the very least, he should have the longest dash time in the game, yet he has the shortest. And running on rings puts him at such a disadvantage. While everyone else running on air can recover air by doing tricks and taking shortcuts, he's stuck with relying ONLY on item boxes and loose rings. I can travel in a constant boost with anybody else in the game on almost every level. That's nearly impossible with SS.

@brandonbear1 He's SUPER Sonic, he's supposed to be overkill. And his top speed is the same as everyone elses. He just doesn't have to work for it like everyone else does. But every other character still outclasses him at lvl 3, simply because they don't have to boost as much as he does to maintain a speed of 250.

@brandonbear1 He's not supposed to be fair. If you're at a party, it's as simple as agreeing to not use him. He's not even worth using. They could have at least made his boost speed faster than everybody elses, or even last longer. He's not significantly fast. I can take the slowest character in the game, and get a faster time than this. Heck, I think my fastest time without the High Booster board is Eggman with about 1:52. If they want to make him a fair char, then at least make him good.

You can actually shave off a few seconds with Super Sonic by hanging to the far right at 0:38 to take the Power character path. You'll smash through the cars giving a slight speed boost, and you'll bypass that little turn you'd have to make if you took the main road.

I know that, but that shortcut won't be worth it in the longrun, because I'll miss the 20 ring item box I can get from going the regular way. I'll run out of rings if I don't get every ring item box available on the course. I tried every other way possible before recording, and this was my fastest time.

Yeah, but stats don't mean squat in this game if you know how to properly air slide and travel through the entire course in an almost constant boost. Not only that, but Super Sonic has the shortest boosting time in the entire game. Tails, Aiai, and Shadow are probably the 3 best characters in the game, because they have the longest boosting time. Any one of them with Shadow's skates is the best you can get....other than the High Booster board, of course.

I wasn't trying to get THE fastest time, I was going for the fastest time with Super Sonic. My fastest is actually 1:39:20 with AiAi, which I also have a vid of, so don't think your time is all that impressive. Even my time is actually pretty slow.

When you're consuming rings as you go, you can't gain rings as fast as any other character, unless you get the 100 ring item box. It's a LOT faster to just air slide and dash, than it is to go offtrack for the sake of hitting a wall, realign yourself with the course, then dash. If a speed of 250 is too fast for you to keep up, then you just need to practice. If you think that's fast, try traveling at a speed of 350 with the High Booster board and staying on the track like I did in my other vids.

This is true, however, if a faster time can be achieved with a different character, it clearly shows that any character is capable of catching up, and passing Super Sonic. Super Sonic has a advantage at the beginning of any race, he can't maintain that lead for the duration of the entire race without first running out of rings. Being able to conserve rings is what slows him down as a consistent racer.

This Super Sonic is probably better that Zero Gravity's Super Sonic. When you use him, He takes up ALL of your rings when he needs to do a sharp turn. Those robots are better than he is.

I spent a few weeks on the missions to get freakin Super Sonic. He runs off of rings like in every other Sonic game, except he SUCKS here because in Riders, AIR IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN RINGS, and the rings are harder to get. Air does nothing for him, so tricking is useless. The way to fix that and make him awesome would have been to have his tricks and air convert into rings as Super Sonic. But no, you spend forever unlocking him, in order for Sega to stab you in the face.
