Pioneer Premier DEH-P400UB Single DIN Headunit with iPod Playback

Question the subwoofer setting on my headunit ranges from -10 to 10 what does this setting really do ? Is it similar to the gain setting on an amplifier ?

@ricoswell1 This setting only adjusts the level that your subwoofer will play at. Depending on how loud your speakers play, you will adjust this setting acordingly.

@SonicElectronixTV Hi I have an important question. I Am looking to purchase an aftermarket head unit. I have a 2000 camaro which has an 8 speaker monsoon soundsystem that is powered by a 200 watt rms stock amplifier. If i put an aftermarket headunit in my car will this amp still help power the speakers? or will just the headunit power them? I would like the amp to keep providing power. Thanks this has been bothering me.

@JOHNNYBFORYA Unfortunatly, you will not be able to use your stock amplifier with an after market head unit. Both Metra or Scoche do not make a premium kit to integrate a moonsoon audio system with the amplifier. You will have to run your speakers off of the head unit of an aftermarket amplifier.

I have sold many Pioneer HUs. over the years, They rarely have issues. In my car I have this exact model. Initial setup is too complicated for many people and I too wish it was simpler. It is extremely flexible as far as settings go. I opted for the Premier over the Pioneer because of the higher level RCA output, USB/IPOD cords are included, and the warranty is 2 years. I stopped burning CDs and went to a 2G flash drive after getting this unit.

Im confused. Which is better, 3 Sets of 4V preamp outputs or 3 Sets of 2V preamp outputs? Because this model is discontinued and replaced by the Pioneer Premier DEH-P410UB which has the 3 Sets of 2V preamp outputs which is less than its predecessor, or is less voltage better when considering RCA's?

The higher the voltage on the preamp outputs the better. Also, the newer Pioneer Premier DEH-P410UB does have 4V outputs. Both are really good stereos that will last a long time.
