Nice! How did you make water wave on releasing the window. I could enable that in Beryl (option called "shiver wave"), but in not in compiz fusion. Thanks!
*YAWN* Beryl XGL etc - way over-rated. How about the linux crowd turn their talents to making the overall GUI structure more intuitive and integrated, instead of whitewashing over all the headaches and driver issues, with pointless 3D effects, the novelty of which, wear off after an hour. Gee whizz Linux, is that *IT*?. Mac FTW!
How in the hell can it be overrated if it's free. Really now, I just looked up a Mac G5 with my PC's same specs, and it's 2200 dollars. My PC cost only 1000. Is it worth paying 1200 dollars more JUST to have Apple's operating system?
The way that a Power PC-based processor works is very different than a traditional 32-bit i386 processor. You can't compare the clock speeds (which is a myth anyhow) because it's like comparing Apples and oranges (pun intended).
yeah, you definitely know nothing about linux. Linux can be customized to be as easy to use as you want. And my linux had absolutely no driver issues, i did not even know what was going on behind the scenes because it all just worked. Including if you plug in a printer, no driver cd required. and dont speak too fast because i believe steve jobs thought linux like operating systems were good enough to build OSX from it. It uses FreeBSD which has little to no hardware support to begin with.
It show Linux has the power and technology beyond other operating system. Imagine this power can be used in medical environments, automotive industries and other...
OS X has comparable capabilities with quartz and open GL. And numerous scientific applications have been made and continue to be made using such. Applications that beautifully display molecular crystalline structures, or applications that quickly provide visual feedback for scientific measurements. Just nothing as conspicuous as this demo.

You're right about Compiz/Beryl being overrated, but Mac sucks! Metacity FTW
Doomguy0505 4 years ago
Mac "sucks"?. How very concise a comparison. Mac is like a relaxing walk in the park; Linux is a different concept - yes - they're DIFFERENT!.
Bye, Mr ignorant.

Mac: a walk in the park
Linux: different
lol whut are you saying?

Mac is very straight forward, but fairly powerful, but Linux takes a lot more tech knowledge to fully use it's power.

FreeBSD and OS X are NOT "Linux-like". FreeBSD, OS X, and Linux, are "Unix-Like". Also "no hardware support" is BS.
olivicmic 3 years ago
Uhhh, alwayschooseford, OS X has hardware support just as good as Linux. Probably even better except for non-Mac CPUs, video cards, and motherboards.

OS X costs money and provides the same OpenGL abilities as Linux.
And in fact, OpenGL IS used for a lot of non-video-game visualizations such as medical / engineering / etc.
cyborgtroy 3 years ago
Looks cool, but I'd have to actually try using it to see whether the effects are a useful enhancement or just a distraction.

Please read the original article listed in digg as to why this is not for general use, just experimental development.

nothin aftereffects do - and not somethin i'd want integrated into my OS.

Exactly how do you enable motion blur, that window effect and the slo mo of the window wobbling?

They should have copied the genie effect from apple!
