That's a seriously good turotial. You have a shot at the beginning with the with half the screen covered / half uncovered. It's good to see that it's very good at cutting out the glare but I was wondering if you could maybe put a closeup of the screen when it's on you're viewing a high res pic. Alot of antiglare films cut out glare at the price of reducing the sharpness of the image or creating a foggie image and I would just like to be able to see how your filter fares on that level.
It's retarded that manufacturers are forcing us to go through this to all of us who don't want our computer screens to be bleeding mirrors. Fuck them.
I bought a Radtech anti glare screen cover and it seemed to blur the screen and add some mild colour artifacts, as a digital artist this annoyed me very much, £20 wasted, I must also mention that I use various self adhesive vinyls and plastics everyday so I know what i'm talking about.
Buying laptop with glossy screen was the most stupid idea ever. Now, after 3 years of suffering I have finally bought an anti-glare film. It wasn't too expensive (25$), but I need to say, that it is well worth the money.
reminds me of the horrors of using contact paper in the 70's. looks easy, by i'd mess it up. rather just dish out the $150 for the hi-res anti-glare and skip the headache.
The tap thing is really helpful i am glad i watch this because mostly on my iphone when i install a Anti-glare and i get dust under the anti-glare i just remove it and through it away
i just bought a macbook pro 13 inch, 2010 model. I noticed how my eyes get tired after using it for approx. 5 minutes. I haven't encountered this problem with any other laptops before. I suspect that it has to do with the LED display.
I accidentally clicked dis video and I started watching it the next thing I kno it was 10 min later bcus it was somehow entertaining lol/ nice video it seems like it's a pain in da a** 2 install but thanks for showing us :)
@philodox13 I remounted the clearCal using a wet mounting technique that worked great for my not so nimble fingers, and my house full of tiny hairs.
Basically, I washed the clearCal in the sink, wiped down the macbook screen, then put the clear cal, while it was still wet, on the computer. Then I used a plastic dough scraper to push the moisture out from under the screen working from the center outwards. It looks great now.
I've got a question. I believe that the LCD itself is actually matte but then Apple puts a piece of glass over it which of course produces glare. And now, in order to minimise that glare we put another piece of film over that glass. It's a little ridiculous, isn't it? I also don't understand why the matte option is more expensive when ordered from Apple. All Apple does is remove that piece of glass they put in the front in the first place.
I ordered my mac book pro, but didnt want to get the anti glare screen because it doesnt have the black frame around it. I did not get the screen yet, but I will probably try when my macbook arrives.
I wasted 30 minutes trying to apply the RadTech filter but my brand new RadTech lint-free cleaning cloth kept dropping turds on the screen creating air bubbles. Terrible product.
just got done intensely comaparing matte vs glossy- the matte screen is the much better choice all around. glossy fanboys will try and argue to the death that the colors are so much brighter and deeper, etc- but in no way is this TINY difference enough to offset the enormous pain in the ass of the glossy's reflection. in fact, there is a layer of glass over the LCD, which cause twice as much glare. really, spend the $50 and get the matte screen.
The 17in MacBook Pro has the option of a matte screen from the factory, which is why we didn't create a 17in model. You can cut down the 24in model to fit your 17in, tho. Thanks!
probably if you have got 1700€ for buy a mac, you have too 50€ extras for put the screen with mate (non glossy). But is a !·%"·% if you purchased when you havent got the option for change the display :/.
Obviously, the quality is superior paying 50€ extras. I think 50€ is $"&"·&. But apple takes when is possible for give more money. (for example 30€ for minidisplay port for vga or dvi....)
amazingly, i am able to decipher your point. and i agree with you. you had me at "But apple takes when is possible for give more money"......borat would be so proud.
Sorry but that doesn't seem to take the glare away - it seems like a blurred glossy effect.,,,
