I agree with you all I have this album on LP & CD but you can't beat the real sound of a record deck, MP3 is killing the real sound of music & today what do you get for the download no words to your best track no case just a Ipod or PC that could go wrong at any time, I'll keep to my collection of LP's & CD's thanks as they sound 100 times better than a download
I bought this on cassette(remember those?) in 1985 and listened to it so many times that the tape started "schreeching"! Its amazing how music can just take you back.
@lisa3eb I have the album on LP as well it's great to play vinyl it's like going back to the best time in music & the LP sounds better than the CD 100%
@acctim100 My meager vinyl collection is my most prized possesion. CD and mp3 do not do music justice. There is nothing like the crackle and pop of a record on the turntable, but there is also the ritual of pulling the album out of the sleeve and dropping the needle onto it. The art of listening to music is taken for granted these days.
@lisa3eb I'm seriously thinking of going back to vinyl. I do miss an actual record player for some reason. Don't know exactly what it is. When I first heard the whole "Alf" release, I was blown away. I still love it.
I love this song-first heard it 10 years ago when I was 14-that was when my love affair with 80's music began, as I was looking for an alternative to all the rubbish music around at that time-10 years later and I still love this song as much as I did when I bought the vinyl from Scope charity shop in Mare Street with my weekly pocket money...ahh the soundtrack of my life...
I will never forget this song all those years ago......I fell in love with this song and it bacame a backdrop to my life and move to London aged 17......what a time that was and hearing this song takes me back to a magnificent time in my life....this woman has so much talent and is still very under rated in my opinion.....WOW WOW WOW !
A haunting sound from a remarkable talent....long may she go on singing....enjoy people :-)
This is something that reminds me of a girl i never got. I haven't played the album for years, only minute ago I suddenly remembered a phrase of this song:
this song has just taken me back 26 yrs and to all the memories and the feeling of being so young at that time. Thanks for posting it , so brilliant !!
I have always loved this woman - and this song was always one of my favourites. Has bittersweet meaning now - since my husband died a couple of years ago ...... nevertheless it is still a hauntingly beautiful song from a beautiful lady.
@smazamataz I haven't all stuff by her completed yet ..but yes, quite true ! she sounds incredibly well with a songs i know. And the first I mean her early songs both with V. Clarke since 82 up to 84 ; i'd call them as pure masterpiece.
@smazamataz music is so powerful, and its effects are timeless...this song and the music is so haunting, and when you mentioned your loss, I burst into tears. God Bless.
Great song, full of images. 'I just don't wanna be lonely night and day'...How many memories from my youth. She has a very colourful voice, plenty of emotions in there. Keep going Alison!
I have this one only on finyl and it feels good to hear it again. And it brings back the memories of my teenage. Warm summernight ....don't wanne be loney
Wow thanks for posting this. I love Alison's whole cd.. Honey for the bees, steele me blind and this one of course. She has such a great voice never really made it big her in the U.S. and she should have. Classy lady great voice thanks again for posting this...
My sisters and I recorded this song on video in the year 1985 (of Dutch television). But we played the video untill it was no longer fit to vieuw it.

Thank you soooooo much for posting! Finally I can hear one of my alltime favorite songs wherever I want, whenever I want. I love this song! Thanks again!!

This is her best solo song, period. Comparable to Midnight and Mr. Blue from her Yazoo years. Alf is the greatest.
