  • evaporating? but, evaporating means getting hotter, not colder

    somebody clearly skipped basic science

  • @mickyshaun someone clearly skipped more advanced science, you're thinking of boiling. Evaporating means the surface of the substance thermodynamically favours gaseous form (via a reduction in Gibb's free energy, delta G). But you knew that, right?

  • I'm sorry this is not evaporation. That is called freezing.

  • I think its your cock that freezes first...

  • 84 people don't like the cold :P

  • Is that SAC apt 405? If so, I hope they fixed the shower wall.

  • ahah looks like a wall

  • whers this at?

  • That's really A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!!!!!

    :-O

  • ohhh. ic. thanks for clarifying that.

  • OMG!

  • That was pretty cool, eh.

  • this video had to be famous and so viral

  • sublimationnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

  • its actually called sublimation. fyi.

  • @doofusboy9 sublimation is actually solid to gas, skipping the liquid phase, like dry ice

  • @StealthNinjaX2 agreed.... and so the boiling water is misted into the air.. heat transfer occurs much faster when the water is a mist due to the increased surface area, thus freezing and sublimating all before hitting the ground again.... is what i said wrong........?

  • @doofusboy9 that is correct, but there is no sublimation occuring here, the boiling water freezed instantly into millions of tiny ice crystals, together they look like mist or fog, but it is actually solid phase

  • that's so cool....but why do u live there?

  • it didn't evapurate it turned to ice immediately

  • woah... that is way cool.

  • 84 people died trying this on themselves

  • i dare you to go pee

  • That is amazing!

  • Loved taking a walk from College coffee house to Hess center in -40F, even my breath used to crystallize in a micro second.

  • I'd learn how to throw a boiling ice knife.

  • Comment removed

  • fucking smoke bomb

  • Comment removed

  • Look who the moron is, its you. Boiling water would never turn into ice that fast. Moron

  • @wintercat2 erm a news presenter did this too so he's not a moron, its called education

  • HARDCORE. :D Gotta try that....

  • awesome. james bond should try this

  • DAMN I LOVE MIAMI

  • omg.55C is hell

  • u have no idea :D

  • holy shit....whr i live its the opp...cold to Hot....i live in the middle east....55C in the summer and 0C in the winter :P

  • In Fairbanks, the lowest ever was -54.4C and the highest was 37.2C. This is pretty ridiculous for one place.

Your temperatures are pretty horrific, though. I grew up in Texas and that was bad enough. Any desire to move somewhere awesome like California? It's 22C for about 5 months of the year here in the SF Bay Area.

  • nice...actually im proly gonna move outta here soon. Got admited into Florida Tech. Although not tht different in climate i think its a big step up by moving to FL:D

  • Not at all ridiculous, here in Canada noth of North Dakota, our lowest ever was -47.8c highest ever was 42.2c

    or -54.0F and 108.0F

  • its not sublimation. it's going from liquid -> solid. it's just fast freezing.

  • instant smoke screen

  • that looked awesome

  • beergut is right, it's sublimation

  • try sublimation ....its goes from a liquid directly to a gas.....well most of it anyway

  • sublimation means solid to gas. get it straight.

  • yup. Dry ice to C02

  • man it's not evaporating, it's condensing, goes from 100 cº to at least 0 cº in ms, which means that it lost at least 500cal/s. it was wicked cold O_o

  • Exactly. I'm assuming (hoping) these guys aren't in the sciences. Cool clip though.

  • ...condensing? But it's still a liquid.

  • It was cold enough to do that last week here :D

    -22f in SD, USA *shiver*

  • i love how they threw it watched for a second and then we're like see ya effin later camera dude! it's cold as a mother effer!

  • SWEET!

  • omg its not ALL supposed to evaporate of course some will hit the ground

  • This works best with 1 cup of water not more

  • that was cool. The Midwest is nice.

  • Ahahaha that is one of the most random things I have ever seen

  • how come it evaporated? i mean its cold so wont it turn into crystals and fall to the ground? please dont say anything mean or stupid i just never been in 0 degree temp, only when i was a baby..

  • it did not evaporate

  • it turned to ice ya dip.

  • I didn't see an evaporation take place. I saw freezing. Palin must have really taken money away from the schools up there and put it towards her bridge to nowhere.

  • So then, what was all that steam from? ;)

  • To elaborate, the small droplets are freezing, but parts of it 'evaporate' as well.

  • He's right. No evaporation takes place. What's probably happening is that small droplets fall more slowly than large droplets due to aerodynamic effects, creating an illusion that the water is turning into air.

  • so its water smoke?

    Not vapour?

  • make a video of someone's peeing outside in -45.

  • As long as I'm not the one peeing it's all good. I don't want the inside of my penis frozen. :<

  • freaking sweet.

  • i live in los angeles and the coldest its been here is 24F =[

  • yea LA is nice and most southern Cal....warm and sunny...I might move their someday.hehe

  • yeah it is pretty nice but sometimes the sun and the warmth gets boring lol

  • lol fuck i though it froze into a wall at 0:07

  • yeah same

  • beautiful place.

  • Comment removed

  • Not right away, but probably pretty soon (giving away lots of steam before, of course). I once read a reportage about Oymyakon, Siberia, and it said that at latest at a temperature of about -64°C, which is not that rare up there, if you have too much saliva in your mouth and have to spit, it will fall to the earth as a piece of ice.

  • @chaoslis No, it doesn't. It's the big difference in heat that makes this happen. Your piss is only 98 F, boiling water is 212 F. Plus, he's throwing it so the surface area is increased, this doesn't happen when you pee. (I live in Minnesota, it gets colder than this there, and I have pissed outside)

  • @chaoslis no, wouldnt come close, urine has high salt concentration. even pouring distilled water out of a cup wouldn't freeze immediately, would take a minute.

  • @chaoslis well if boiling water does that... i wouldn't wanna know what pissing does lol. Check out my video, its about boiling water too. Hope you enjoy it. peace

  • @chaoslis No, because the water has a strange behavior, and the urine hasn't.

    It's physics. :D

  • @chaoslis Yeah, if you piss out there, will the urine start freezing up your cock???

  • @chaoslis omg he should try that on his own time lol

  • @JuzKillnBeatz really man, that comment is over 2 years old and people still troll about it.

  • @chaoslis I wasnt trolling.... I clearly agreed with you retard.

  • @JuzKillnBeatz i guess i wasn't the only immature one watching this video. at least i've grown up a bit, maybe you will too in two years.

  • @chaoslis You're funny child.

  • @JuzKillnBeatz thank you sir. you're too kind.

  • wow lol i thought it turned into a giant wall of ice at first

  • it turned into snow! WOW. and didnt they say not to try anything at home?

  • smoke granada nigah

  • holy shit that's defently one of the coolest things iv ever seen in my life, i live in Australia so the coldest it gets around here is about 10 degrees Celsius id love to be able to go somewhere and do that

  • it freezes instantly cus the particles are spreading making it easier for it to cool faster.. it evaporates because it freezes =o

  • WOW! I want to go to Fairbanks this winter and try that. Putting it on my To-go list!

  • HOLY CRAP THAT'S CRAZY!!!

okay so I might have over reacted but I'm from TX and that's pretty cool.

  • that is so cool

  • i live in canada and when its cold enough i do this all the time

  • smoke screen

  • I wish it would snow over UK ...

  • Where is this at ? Wisconsin?

  • Fairbanks, Alaska

  • lol ok lets go back inside now...

  • About hot water tossing:

Very hot or boiling water will freeze into tiny ice crystals almost instantly when tossed into frigid air (-30°F/-34°C) forming an icy mist. Boiling water is close to the point of vaporization into gas so it breaks into minute droplets when thrown into the cold air. The tiny droplets lose heat so quickly that they freeze almost instantly.

If you want to see something truly amazing, try blowing soap bubbles in -30. You will get ice bubbles.

  • that sounds like fun (blowing bubbles in -30 degree weather) :)

  • wow hey dumb fucks its not evaporating it createing moisture because of the temp of the water jujst like when you breath out your mouth on a cold day, water doesnt evaporate at cold temperatures, it evaporates at high temps.....

  • thats acutally cool

  • Now just throw a couple pots off the top of a bank roof and you can officially commit a successful robbery and getaway!

  • Awesome!

  • sweet

  • *condensing...

  • HOLY CRAP!!!

  • ssssssssssiiiiiiiiiiicccc

  • ye ye state whatever its still awesome :D

  • alaska is not a country numb nuts its a state in america duuurrrrr

  • and you know it's not a country^^ man how stupid you americans are? ;>

  • Yeah americans are dumb.

  • Fuck you, not all Americans are dumb, just like not all people from other countrys are smart. It's the true morons in this world that look at a group of people and say "Because 10% of them are morons, the rest must be stupid as well". Especially when that same person looks at his own group and says every single one of us is a fucking Einstein.

  • Yes they are. Don't get pissed about it. :)

  • don't even bother trying to bait me into an argument, because i'm better than that. If in fact that's what you're trying to do. And I know for a fact, like it or not EVERY country has more than it's fare share of morons. As well as every country has it's intelligent people, nationality has no bearing on one's intelligence.

  • Salemcripple, iv got the perfekt answer for the thing that amaricans are dumb, its becouse alot of ppl live in america plus Bush lives there, and alot of other really unsmart ppl, America has done ALOT of good things but right now bush is doing ALOT OF ALOT OF bad!

  • Yeah, but just because our president is stupid, doesn't mean every single American is stupid. Every country is about the same when it comes to things like intelligence. There are some smart people, and some morons.

  • thats exactly what i said? the president is prolly the biggest morron this world ever seen!

  • You're calling Americans stupid, when you can't use proper spelling or grammar? Look who's the dumb one. :p

  • im from fucking sweden, i just said that it lives alot of people in america, thats the reason alot of the idiots in the wold show up from america

  • and you can not sing either.............

  • THS YANKEE°!!!

  • i tried it before it worked, it was 8 degrees F

  • cool, I wish I would have thought to try this a few weeks ago when we were having a cold snap up here in Edmonton

  • This one is the best

  • I can see you're your own hype man over there. I don't give a fuck how much money u got bro, if ur using words like OWNED, especially while referring to your own replies... YOU'RE A DOUCHEBAG!

  • You need to wear a shirt that reads:

Don't You Know Who I Think I Am?

    LOL. You're such a pseud!

  • Are you talking to me? I think you're right, I was joking around and being a smart ass and you people thought I was being serious. Well, the video didn't work because of youtube, so I was being serious in that part. Glad there are always hateful people who like to reply to my comments, especially when they look like complete retards from what they say! :)

  • get a job and buy a faster connection fuckface

  • qwerty, you forgot 4

    4) YOUR A FUCKING NOOB

    lawl pwned... dipshit

  • who shit in your cereal?

  • drug dealer isnt a job :)

  • Wow, lots of people saying I'm a newb in my email I had to reply, yet the video wasn't working AT ALL... so who's the dipshit there? Everyone that replied is a dumb fuck... watch how I own them with their own "smart" replies...

  • sublimation is when a solid becomes a gas; skipping the liquid phase (dry ice). this is a liquid becoming a gas (evaporation).

  • Isn't this mostly water vapor becoming a liquid and/or solid? You can't see water vapor. What you see is water droplets and ice crystals.

    condensation?

  • maybe it is, i dn what hits the ground. but you can see water vapor...fog is water vapor.

  • THATS AWESOME!!

  • USE A PRESSURE WASHER!!! That would be soooo sweet!

  • is the boiling water become to snow?

  • cool :D:D

  • whats wrong wid u

  • awsome

  • that looks fun

  • Glad to see the tradition is still alive on campus

  • thats insane!

  • o_O

  • ive lived in alaska for 12 years!! and i dont plan living there agian!! XD but i do miss visiting =(

  • -45 is too warm for it to work perfectly. Wait till it gets to -55. I used to be stationed at Eielson AFB near Fairbanks. You can keep that shyte!

  • i went on a cruise to alaska and it isn't that cold there.but i went in summer so... no use of saying anything

  • cool video.......literrily

  • I'm flying to Fairbanks in about 2 weeks (ice carving championship, spectator, not participant). Weather report this last week has had lows of -45F there. I'm going to do this. Just because it looks so cool. (no pun intended, and I'm sure none taken.) Hope my eyeballs don't freeze in their sockets.

  • I can see my apartment in this video!

  • That is funny, if you are serious :)

  • LOL I tried this and im living in Canada... well its minus 55 degrees celsius with the wind... no joke and lets just say it was cooler then this video!

  • im from wisconsin and i did the same thing yesterday. i got the idea from this video. it was only -13 degrees but it still worked good. you learn so much from youtube! lol

  • WOW THAT'S AMAZING. haha

I didn't even see what happened when it hit the ground.

    GOSH DEVIN!

  • how stupid are some people, of course places each minus degrees, im from sheffield in the UK, which is in the centre of the country and its -3'C right now!

  • -3C = ~24F , thats not high at all, this video is -45 F, which = -42C

  • I'm surprised your camera and/or its battery worked a that temperature... Anyway, great videos.

  • thats awesome

  • how can you speak in weather that cold?!

  • -45 degree weather...fuck that

  • Nice. Would it make a pretty colourful effect in the air if you did it with water that had dye added to it? :)

  • moral to the story: don't live in alaska.

  • alaska is AWESOME. don't knock it til you've actually lived there.

  • yeah - i was half joking/half serious. but now i take back the serious part to my comment. i would actually love to visit alaska.

  • sweeettt
