  • I was just a baby when this came out, but it is one of the best classics of it's time....luckily, my momma DID let me play some rock and roll....

  • This song is awesome.

  • 2:30 onward in sick

  • Wonder if he's related to Doug from Doug and the slugs. Sounds similar.

  • @MrTellatubby

Doug Bennett died in 2004 and was from Abottsford, BC, Jerry Doucette was born in Mtl. and came West. They don't sound a bit alike

  • The Douce is Loose!

  • Comet levy dec 26 through jan epiphany baffana ! Jupiter comet la Baffana must be the season of the witch! rock star shooting star rock on!

  • Fuckin eh This is my Third cousin apperantly i would love to meet him but our family is so fucking huge

  • @RoyalRzerve420 Well i knew mark doucette he went to my high school in tsawwassen B.C, and Gerry once did our battle of the bands back in 89, lol they lived very close to my old house in tsawwassen would always see gerry walk past my house or bye me down the road .

  • The Spirit Of Rock .. Chom 97.7

  • Thinking of you Brenda...dance girl dance~!!!

  • This is the very first "rock" song I ever heard. Wow, I remember the day like it was yesterday.I loved it them, love it now.

  • HEARD RADIO PLAY 97.7

  • ok...great song by great canadian artist...i love love rock music...have 100's of cd's and albums...this song...in top 5!!

  • I think part of the reason this song didn't do well in the US is the sound quality. Whoever engineered/produced this track should never have worked again. They almost ruined a great song.

  • Haha im not kidding right now but im 15 and i havent seen him for while but we are good friends, he taught me how to play by a campfire one night right beside my dads house

  • "starting with The Reefers during his childhood. He eventually moved to Vancouver, British Columbia and subsequently signed a solo recording deal with Mushroom Records." LOL!!! Keyword, VANCOUVER!

  • @215jetman Did you find it yet, if not i know a website where i convert as many YouTube videos as i want. Reply if you want the link

  • I ALWAYS thought this was Doug and the Slugs until just now. They sound surprisingly alike.

  • @NovaScotian1992 That's quite an insult to JD!!

  • @roquefortfiles

Hey now, Doug & the slugs are second to none!

  • @NovaScotian1992 LOL!! I like them too. But they don't have a guitarist on par with JD. I saw JD do this live back in 77. It was AS GOOD as it is here. I am a guitarist and I am picky and i was VERY impressed. Too bad he imploded with too much coke back in the day.

  • always nice hearing this

  • @nyko3424 that would be great! Its jj6lind@yahoo.com...thanks!

  • Unbelievable, I can't believe you posted this song!!! Thank you!!!! My big brother

Brent started playing the drums around this time. He was 11. Today he is an accomplished musician and so is our younger brother Brandon, both killer Drummers. My Dad bought this record home one day, he was in a record store and heard this playing, I think it reminded him of his son the Drummer. Ahhhh the memories. I honestly havn't heard this song since 1979, but we never forgot it. Thanks for the memories!

  • I loved this song in the 80's still is 1 of my favs

  • Ron Paul 2012 ! Get into the American Freedom Movement !

  • i listen to rap but this song is truly my favorite song and i love when it comes on the radio

  • Oh the good old day before the shitty top 40 lists when radio stations could play listener requests. First time i heard this song was on our local rock station WMMS

in Cleveland I call the station to get the artist and title went out and bought it and still have it today.!!

  • @Cowboyup729 Trans Buzzard Airways !!!!!

  • I was fortunate enough to see Jerry Doucette back in the late 70’s at Eastern Washington University. He is still one of the most talented guitarists that I’ve ever seen.

  • @fowler1960 BOOOOOOOOO SHIITTTTTTTTT

  • yay abbotsford agrifair :P

  • LET HIM OR HER IF THY GOT IT.DONT EVER DISCOURAGE THEM.

  • Its great to hear classic rock, Doucette is often confused with many bigger names but is one of the best Canadian singer songwriters. Rock and Roll will never take a back seat to anything pumped out today or should I say copied/sampled. Cheers!

  • LOVE singing this Karaoke!!!! Love Mr. Doucette!

  • LET THE BOY PLAY.

  • and to think justin fagget came from the same country........greast song

  • AH Yes, seen at the PIT at UBC, twenty feet from JD plating, going deaf, drinking a big bottle of toscano bianco. Most accurately named bar in history, but we loved it... Thx very much

  • a world today without this music would be chaos & mayhem

  • When I was a kid about 16 I met Jerry at his sister Pat's place at the time I was taking guitar lessons from Jerry's little brother Donald. We talked music all night long and he even showed me how to play VooDoo Chile on an old classical guitar what a super nice Man.Thanks Jerry. All the best to the Doucette Family....

    Pontiac.

  • I recently heard this tune in the car and other drivers must have thought I was nuts singing along, what awesome memories.

  • my friend has the lp in mint condition !

  • How do we get this song? Not on itunes. I love this tune!

  • @n0hjz Old fashion way. You get up off your ass and buy it in a record store.

  • Reminds me of tailgate parties with this music playing from vehicles at weiner roasts by camfire during fishin trips and summer get togethers in the late 70's with all our aunts, uncles, moms and dads and their freinds, while all us kids played all nite. The Labatts Blue used to flow quite abit back then.

  • Sounds like David lee roth

  • Jammed to this tune after my 1st softball win, what a party!! I miss the 80s!!

  • First time I heard this song, I thought it was Van Halen (w/ David Lee Roth).

  • when i was younger I used to live in the basement suite of gerry's house, i used to sneek upstairs and play nintendo 64 with him and his son, then my mom would come and get mad at me for sneeking inside their house... thought it was pretty funny..

  • why can't I buy this song on itunes !!!! So not cool

  • kickass solo

  • 4 people aren't aloud to play.

  • one of the coolest solos EVER!

  • @mousekins50 you can download it free on beemp3,C0/\/\

  • UNDERRATED.

  • Canada made the best rock bands / rock singers ever!

  • @LondonUnderground186 Had some good ones for sure, Rush is also underrated.

  • @mustwinder Woha! Rush is NOT underrated. They have earned the respect of people all across the world. So many bands take inspiration from Rush it's not even funny. They're the biggest group of musicians to come out of Canada, and one of the few bands that are still shining and making music from the glorious Classic Rock era.

  • @dudewithfood12345 I grew up on Rush, seems like they didn't get the respect they deserve here in the States, are they in the R@R Hall of Fame? Thing is, they still put on an awesome show and those guys have to be close to 60.

  • @mustwinder They are amazing, talented musicians. But the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame doesn't mean much. Bands like Journey,, Bon Jovi, The Guess Who, Styx and Iron Maiden aren't in there while Madonna is...so that discredits the organization.

But then again, Louis Armstrong was only inducted in 1990...so maybe they just take their time on some cases.

  • @dudewithfood12345 yeah rush is behind the beatles and the rolling stones in rock record sales is was amazed when i heard this.........

  • oh yes mama let him play some rock n roll another great canadian rockin tune love it!

  • Smellotheclown - Thanks for posting this song!

A "Grand" Classic of Canadian rock.

  • Reminds me of BTO...but I love it!

  • we sat with jerry at the bar in red deer and he was telling us how he has some serious back troubles and it's even hard for him to hold a guitar now..i was singing this song at karaoke ...it is one of the funnest songs you could ever sing...i am going to learn it for jamming...how cool would that be

  • Truly, one of Rock-n-Rolls lost treasures, what a great song. Radio stations-classic rock, old rock, mixed or what ever just don't play it. Sad all the great music we never get to hear anymore. I've been looking for this song for 15 years or so, (Had it when it came out all those years ago, didn't think it would show up here). Way to go! Hope it can be found in digital format.

  • I use to travel alot, the only place I heard this song was Ilinois. I never heard it anywhere else. I love this song.

  • hey guys can u get this song on itunes and how do you get it on itunes

  • absolute must have in your volumes of rockitude :P

  • rnb is rythum and blues, blues was the begining of rock. after blues was "rock the billy" wich became "rock and roll". so don't knock blues cause it is the grandfather of rock. so what you want about "pop" cause it's just plain shit.

  • my third most favoritest song.

  • How many of you Doucette fans knew that I played this drum track 12 weeks after breaking my left hand (my cymbal hand - I set my drums up left-handed) in a car accident. I saw stars every time I hit any of my Crash cymbals! Ah....show biz!! :o)

  • 4 people were so amazed by the song that they missed the like button!

  • This is on of my favorite '70's songs, by far! The guitar lick that Doucette has going on here is just amazing. Damn...I can't believe I found this again after so many years...and, yes, it brings back memories of the back seat of a white Camaro... Double-Damn!!!
