Being left of middle, I have very different politics to Regan, but he stood up the Soviets and brought the Cold War to an end, and ended the yoke around the necks of those chained by Stalin's legacy. Regan did more for world peace than most people remember him for. He held freedom and liberty at his heart, and they were central to his beliefs and policies. He championed democracy. RIP Former Mr President.

Where did I say Regan brought the USSR down? I think I said he stood up to the Soviets and brought the Cold War to an end. He began the crucial talks with them to reduce missile stocks, and he made a friend of Gorbachev, He welcomed the changex in the USSR, and he seized upon them to being thawing USSR and US relatiions.
