cool for editing, but 3d glasses do suck, i prefer the eye trick 3d images, they require understanding of how they work to see the image. no stuff in front of your eyes or glare or anything annoying.

I think 3D is neat but currently the technology just isn't there. Glasses and the current glasses-less technologies are just sucky. If we had immersive, clear, non-headache 3D it would be fine. But it definitely shouldn't take away from anything or be a focus, the story should be the focus. Right now 3D is an annoyance in most cases.

One, because they pay off, and two, because they serve as a way for companies to gather the necessary resources (money) for the next blockbuster. Blockbusters are blockbusters because they are so freaking good. See one. I don't like lobbies either, but that doesn't mean everything they do sucks.

Problem is there is no place for the arty movies, the real good ones as per my criteria (you might like others), but the issue is the lack of diversity: all you get is form 5 Majors

As far as marketing goes, marketing does play a role in the opening weekend, but that's just about it. Look for highest-grossing films (although, I was not able to find a list that's corrected for inflation and the growth of the world population). Yes, I know, Avatar is the first, but that's not because of marketing, that's because people hate themselves today.
