I used to be into bands similar to this, like Converge, Glassjaw, Zao, Dillinger, Norma Jean, Botch, etc. Then one day I got over the novelty and realized none of it was actually musically sound or catchy. I think that typically teenagers are the biggest fans of this type of music because of the shock value and chaos. Then they get over it.

The complex polyrhythms, the dissonant progressions, the technical mastery of each instrument, the unusual chord structures and progressions......bands like this and Zao and Dillinger and BTBAM and Protest and The Human Abstract and Periphery etc etc etc prove that qualities such as conventional melodies, "catchiness", and predictable song structures can be altered.

@feedmelies firstly, you cant say this isn't musically sound, it's a technical artwork of arrangement and and playing but siKth are a catchy band with hooks and lots that can stick in your head e.g PUSSY FOOT everyone remembers the shout at the start, bland street bloom has a brilliant chorus and peepshow is just an incredible song throughout.
