  • MAN! Look at that virtual crowd go crazy.

  • most underrated band in history these guys shud be making millions from every song they write and put out there. Its an honor to hear these guys rock! Enough said.

  • Chris Cornell is the shit. Best in the world.

  • dude what the fuck did he do at the end it was fuckin trippy

  • hey! seattles a nice place! alil...

  • such a weird crowd, nobody's moving except for those like three kids

  • They're so amazing. Even Live.

Truly, a band that is not well known enough.

  • 'Slaves and Bulldozers'. Nuff Said.

  • MP is very hot! but the Best voice of all singers has eddie vedder of pearl jam!!!!

  • lol at the people in the crowd

  • That bassline is the shit, fucking awesome.

  • Guitar like Smells like teen spirit a bit ... yeah don't deny

Good song , and i Love Nirvana

  • cobain wtf.. they all have a good voice but no one is even close too CHRIS CORNELL one of the few gifted singers with a 4 octave voice... peace

  • @darfdusty

dude, chris cornell.. really?? Soundgarden was ok but dont compare Cornell to Wozniak...please

  • @woz22 damn woz ur retarted!!!!! i mean seriously1 theyre all the same! i mean chris cornell and kurt cobain did a song together with some other guys! and by the way if ur not from seattle ur not a real band (Nirvana, Soundgarden, jimi hendrix)

  • @woz22 Cornell does have a more powerful voice. I like them both, Soundgarden is much heavier than MP, and they are too different to compare really.

  • @darfdusty how can you think cornell sings better than kurt!? Cornell is so throaty...

  • @rasputozen Kurt has one range. Chris Cornell invented the entire vocal range in just one song! Just listen to one of his solo albums. He was throaty in Soundgarden because that was Soundgarden. He even made a pop album which shows how he can do whatever the Fuck he wants! lol

  • @darfdusty Soundgarden sucks!

  • @miniraptorX No I guess thats why they make millions while you post gay comments....

  • @darfdusty ...Uhm, okay? Just because they make millions doesnt mean they have talent, look at Bieber...

  • @darfdusty I don't believe Wozniak wanted/wants to be a vocalist with the range of a Cornell...He writes his music for his range and it really speaks volumes.

  • @darfdusty lol

  • @darfdusty I like Shannon Hoon.

  • @darfdusty ur all retarded yo. slayer vocals all the way......

    lululululululul

  • anyone who really compares marcy playground and nirvana are only listening to one of the bands. ive listened to a ton of nirvana back in the day, and my favorite band is marcy playground. theyre nothing alike. just because someone is influenced by someone else doesnt mean they have to sound like them. woz was also inspired by jimi hendrix, but youre not comparing them. theyre both great, leave it at that.

  • is there anymore from this show?

  • Breaking up any Nirvana comments

    I love this song.

  • if one could mix wozniaks songwriting with cobains vocals the pinnacle of grunge may be reached

  • I'll take Wozniak's vocals over Cobain anyday

  • @woz22 john has more of a common voice than kurt.i love john..but there was only 1 kurt.

  • @jowo13 idk, he couldnt really sing. i was thinking yesterday, if kurt cobains voice wasnt so full of pain, he wouldnt really be a good singer at all. no offense, i love his voice, i just think its pretty sad/interesting how his shitty life made him an amazing musician.

and not trolling, but i havent heard many people who sound like woz.

  • Wozniak sings really well but Kurt had this crazy raspiness and loud angry passion in his voice when he sang. Not many ppl who sing can also stand out as a vocalist. A few, in my tiny opinion, would include Celine Dion, Jonathan Davis (KoRn), Jim Morrison and Janis Joplin. Like I said, John Wozniak sings really well and theres nothing wrong with his singing or style. A good example: Sex n candy is hot n sultry and he sounds incredibly sexy. nobody can sing that song like he can, nobody.

  • @woz22 Hellllllll no! Cobain any day. That guy was a genius and have an incredible voice that sound like nail grinding......raw.....authentic........Marcy Playground is a great band and they really shouldn't be compare to Nirvana. It get's old but Nirvana is still one of the best bands to emerge in the last 20 years. PERIOD!

  • @woz22 Okay, I'm a huge Nirvana fan! I love Nirvana more than I love anything... Wozniak is omg! AMAZING! I just started listening to Marcy Playground, and to be honest, I don't think I have it in me to admit I might like him better than Kurt... but- Idk, both amazing bands

  • @woz22 I wish Woz and Cobain could do a song together, like Under Pressure but alot less gay

  • @woz22 yeah same here, Wozniak has the best voice i've ever heard.

  • love this song. It sounds nothing like Nirvana though. I sounds more hendrixy.

I love Nirvana, and I bet the Woz does too.

But this is no way a "Teen Spirit" copy. This song was a tribute to Kurt and all the Seattle folks.

  • the guitaring sounds a lot like nirvana's stuff power chord, muted notes, and another power chord. but lyrically it is much different than Cobain. nonetheless this is a great band and thay deserve more than "that one 90's band who made sex and candy" i respect wozniak and i hope he keeps rockin and i cant wait for their new album. And does any one know where i could find Zog Bogbean?

  • no..he sounds like john wozniak

  • Even if he was influenced by Nirvana,

    so what?!

  • Smells like teen spirit was Nirvana's attempt to sound like the Pixies, and Kurt admitted it.

  • john wozniak is an amazing song writer.

    Really.

and yes the woz has been around just about as long as kurt cobain and nirvana and nirvana just made the bigger hit faster than the woz.

    but who cares?

The woz is amazing and he's still around to give us some more rock so go to one of their shows and support them cause they're BACK IN ACTION!! YAY

  • From 2:00, seems like those kids had their does of Opium and Poppies.. lol

  • I admit, the beginning sounds like teen spirit, but once you get past that strum line, it really has its own sound.

And this frontman was heavily influenced by Nirvana, so its influence is quite obvious.

  • Marcy Playground wasn't really influenced by Nirvana. Wozniak had been making music in Seattle as long as Nirvana, releasing Zog Bogbean in 1990, nearly two years before Nevermind stormed the nation. Also, this song bears no resemblance to Teen Spirit. Not every song with a chord, slight muffle, and another chord is Teen Spirit. The chords in Teen Spirit are similiar to that of Boston's -More Than A Feeling, but that doesn't mean it's the same. I do like Nirvana, but not an accurate comparison

  • Your right, this song holds doesnt hold a resemblance to teen spirit. As a whole that is. But the pattern of chord, palm chord, and chordx2 does sound very similar to the lick of teen spirit.

But you don't understand my arguement anyways. I never said he jacked it from nirvana or anything, holy shit, it just has its similarities. I like this song, even more than I like teen spirit. Kinda annoying how you jump on my case. So stfu and gtfo.

  • are you kidding me of course Wozniak was influenced by Kurt Cobain. Who do you think Saint Joe is in the song Saint Joe on the school bus. Listen to the lyrics closely and think about it.

  • While Saint Joe on the school bus does have musical similarities to Nirvana, I don't believe the song has anything to do with Cobain. It sounds like it's about a kid being made fun of at school.

  • Well than you know nothing about him or his music cause if you did 1 minute of research on him and the song you would relize that, thats who he is talking about.

  • I can't find any concrete evidence the song is about him. Just a bunch of pages with people like you assuming that every song written post-94 is somehow about Cobain.

  • the nirvana references get so old. You would think they were around for 20 years . There gone, been gone. If they (he) were around still they would probably be like STP with a junky for a lead singer making average music anyway.

  • was that a shot at kurt?....eneyway it even gets old to me cuz marcy and nirvana are two totaly different bands i just want people to learn.........

  • STP is above average, bud.

  • easy big fella, if Scott Weiland should be in jail like the rest of the junkies that get CAUGHT 10 times for the same fucking thing

  • Who cares? I'm not talking about Scott, I'm talking about the music.

Did I say Scott Weiland was above average? No, I didn't. I said STP is.

  • it doesnt sound like teen spirit at all it sounds like shadow of seatle

  • god this shit takes me back...what a great song

  • Glen, quit being a douche and lets go get smokes

  • I like the Teen Spirit similarity; the song title suits it. Plus MP is influenced by Nirvana.

  • its team spirit

  • lol i think he means smells like teen spirit, the nirvana song

  • team spirit??

    xDDDD

    thats a joke right?

  • haha i heard like 3 diffrent ppl say that...and some argue that it really is but naa i was just joking

  • p.s this is an awesome song

  • i like how the guys a :07 start jumping right away lol

  • One of the more underrated songs on the album.

Hell, every song on that album was a gem.

  • ditto

  • The kid at 2:04 is great, lol.

  • You people should know... this comment argument has already been running under a different vid for this song for like over a year. Get with the program..hehe

    p.s. - Woz > Kurt

Sorry.. had to throw that in..

  • Yeah you ppl are starting to kill me acting like nobody other than kurt cobain could ever write a good song. Kurt would hate all you kids who call yourselves nirvana fans now.

  • finally someone with a brain commenting

  • woooorrrrrrddddd

  • one of my fav MP songs

  • Woz = badass motherfucker

  • I just got my tickets!!!!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAA AAA!!!!!! I'm going on a cruise to the Bahamas with Marcy Playground!!!! They say you get to lounge and drink with the band during signing sessions!!!!! JUST WHAT I ALWAYS WANTED!!!!! Oct 23!!!,.. marcyplayground.c0m

  • Gah you suck? Is there an address where I can reach you and pummel the life out of you for said tickets? hehe

  • people have been arguing about kurt vs. john for one year on this thread.

    happy anniversary!

  • Whats with nirvana fans talking shit about MP? If you can tell by the title, chords, rhythme, and way its played.. this song is a fking tribute to nirvana. Its fking intentional.

secondly.. wtf is with the nirvana worship? Ok.. they made good songs.. got rich.. did a lot of smack.. and then kurt killed himself b/c he became an icon to millions who didn't get even fking get him.. b/c assholes that he wrote songs about hating.. loved him.. didn't get him.. and he had become cliche.. derf!

  • badassed bass riff

  • SLTS? Uh...maybe like the first two chords of SLTS. That's really where the resemblance ceases, though.

  • We used to play this. I miss those days...

    :(

  • this is my favorite from Marcy's Playground even more so when you learn how to play it! My top 2 grunge Bands MP and Nirvana!

  • cool song...i love the distorted accoustic haha

  • EHAEHAEHHHAQ??!?!!? Since when do ppl care about how many chords their are in a song!?!!! as long as it sounds good am i right?!?!

  • hemorrhiod started it...:)

  • eatme is right...squash it.

  • really come on nirvina and Marcy playground were both good bands i dont even see what this argument is about

  • well thank u kurt cobain for teachin us how many chords "smells like teen spirit" has in its intro. however "verse" aint even chords its just two notes. (the srummin pattern has some similarity.) "forced contortion"... sounds like a hemorrhiod...

  • Why are you idiots fighting about Marcy Playground and Nirvana? They are two of the top 10 bands ever, and neither of them are that dumb to where they'd want their fans fighting about that shit. Like Wozniak and Cobain wouldn't have enjoyed eachother. Shit, people.

  • @mastralan5

Wozniak and Cobain wouldn't have enjoyed eachother...wtf?

  • @mastralan5 Oh! And on the distant horizon, i see it! Logic!

  • nirvana rip off..... it has nothing simular... u guys are fucking idiots as smells like teen spirits verse had 4 chords while this one has 2 chords

  • so...... whats your point? youre telling me that was the first song in the world with 4 chords?

  • you obviously didn't read what i was commenting to. The douchbag said this was a S.L.T.S rip off and i was just calling him an idiot because its the first verse that sounds i guess a little similar. but no i dont care about the simplicity or the amount of chords.

  • yeah my bad lol, i read it again right after i posted it, and i was like oops, oh well...

  • smells like teen spirit rip off? well the song (is) called "the shadow of seattle".

  • he was a good writer but he wasn't a genious.

while john wozniak is a genious

  • mister 'genious' can't spell genius ;)

  • i didn't say that i was the genius i was saying that about Wozniak so you feel like a prick now

  • lol smells like teen spirit rip off

  • dont hear it, what simple riff doesnt sound like a Nirvana rip off. So sick of people thinkig Cobain was some kind of genious. He was simply a heroin addicted fuckstick crybaby who couldnt possibly deal with money fame and fortune, wah,wah cry me a river Kurt.

  • what????? kurt cobain was a genius!

  • asshole

  • damn right and don't forget it

  • dude come on now.... have some respect

  • lol

  • he's really hot...like really really hot

  • Opie you are very ignorant...Color of skin has nothing to do with it..

  • THE MuDHippieS !DO A GREAT COVER OF MARCY PLAYGROUND SONGS. THEY HAVE A YOUTUBE PAGE MARCY FANS!!!FROM ME TO YOU!

  • what the fuck does skin color have to do with a damn thing? just enjoy the music you scumbag

  • i am a dork

  • cobain closed the door, not opened it

  • he fuckin made the door bitch

  • i dont like how anyone that has a suburban white rhythm is ostricized because cobain did it once. white people are killing their own music with their dedication to their nirvana figurehead

  • could be true actually..look at all the hype these days about the repetitive, generic ass SHIT they call rap on the radio stations. hip hop is dead..teeny pop bullshit is conquering =/

  • you are very true mt friend, i hate the new wave shit people are listening to...i was talkling to a friend and he was like,"yea dude we were moshing hardcore at an AFI concert" i bitched slapped him lol

  • haha yeah, gotta love it huh

  • o yea bro, it sucks though...i hate when i ask people,"do you know who marcy playground is or mad season or something like that" they are always like,"who the fuck is that, did you get the new kanye west album btw" haha it pisses me off alot

  • haha yeah no shit huh. people only know about sex and candy too, when wozniak and mp have got so much good shit out there. its kinda sad =/

  • very sad, your right too, most people just know about one band's song that is hit mainly throught the mainstream and dont look at a band for who they are and their sound and doesnt get deeper into their songs...i consider people who do the stuff i said above are true fans

  • It is EMP (Experience Music Project) in Seattle. I'm a local, and love these guys. Been following them since they were small time.

  • did anyone else see the fags trying to mosh to that song, good song though.

  • when and where was this preformance?

  • it was performed at the "New Pop Festival" in Baden-Baden (Germany) in 1998. I was there :)

  • Hey gsmack, I tried to respond to your message and couldnt for some reason. Thanks for adding these new ones!

  • I've been looking for a performance of this!!!!!!!
