  • I remember this from when I was only 7years old. I was real shocked when I watched this & so were my parents. I remember after dinner sometimes watching Jill Dando on the show "Holiday". I remember watching her on that show just before she died or maybe it was on the same week she died. I was watching this saying "I hope the catch the bastard" to my parents. Shocking times indeed. RIP

  • You can tell Martyn Lewis is upset while he breaks the news of Jill Dando's murder.

  • @Visonu Exactly. The MI5 and MI6 knows the real killer but would bring to justice.

  • Good too see the BBC One Clock before the BBC Six 0 Clock News at 0:00 a shame it was not Moira Stuart on that night but it was a good bulletin anyway a really fantastic excellent bulletin this one is and its good too see the clock moving at 0:01 and 0:02 and 0:03 at 0:04 and 0:05 and 0:06 its also good seeing the opening titles at 0:07 for the BBC Six 0 Clock News amazing Jennie Bond at 5:55 and a short time ago Jill Dandos brother Nigel spoke about how much he would miss his sister 6:00 6:01

  • God, Yugoslavia? Bradford and Bingley? This takes me back.

  • I love the intro starting at 0:06 that music is just amazing I used too always look forward too the BBC Six 0 Clock News listening too that theme tune at the start what a classic theme tune this is and I can't believe this is going way back too Monday 26th April 1999 when that thing happened too Jill Dando but considering that was about 11 years ago when that happened this BBC Six 0 Clock News is a real classic and I love the theme tune starting at 0:05 this is fantastic I love this bulletin me

  • Jill Dando killer will never be brought to justice

  • @19GirlBad More than that. He has not been identified since Barry George was set free as it wasn't him

  • Shagged her way to the top by the looks of things!!!

  • @hearts76100 Your'e probably right. Don't get me wrong, I know her death was wrong. Murder is murder, but she did sleep her way to the top. She was like Natasha Kaplinksy. She was shagging 7 men plus her fiance. She was never the nations sweetheart. But that doesn't make her death right.

  • Why do posh people seem to have no emotions. Her brother is talking like nothing has happened only a couple of hours after she died

  • @snoopz122001

wow snoopz please end your life by contracting aids.

    And not good aids either.........

  • @snoopz122001

nice posting your retarded comments twice.

You really need to be sawn up and dumped in plastic bags outside a aids clinic.

I'm not a religious person, but I will now pray to all the 'Gods' that your life is short, painful and maybe you will get an education in hell. I doubt it thou. First you are a massively dumb cunt, and you are an ameriscum.

Tell you're mum I'll pay her that cash next week. Skettty bitch.

  • @snoopz122001

I'd wish someone would rape you with a peanut, that would soon shut your fucking noise. and then maybe snoop doggy dogg can get some big black dudes you open you up, put cleaning agents in your eyes then maybe take you for a ride in his 64.

    All the best ameri-scum

  • @snoopz122001

    nigger named cunt

  • @Zamorano0180

    Why the racism?

  • Godnight lovely Lady, Rest in Peace. It was a privilige to even see you on Tv. We miss you.

  • I remember seeing this on the Six o' Clock news, not expecting what he was about to say - I nearly hit the floor. Probably one of only 2 or 3 things that I've ever seen on the news that has truly shocked me to my heart.

  • Goodness...11 years ago today. I remember it like yesterday.

  • R.I.P. Lovely Gill. X.

  • god bless you jill a true british legend

  • Her brother Nigel seems amazingly cool about the whole thing considering it only happened a few hours before the interview!

  • I love the way the journalists watch the story like Martyn Lewis and Jennie Bond

  • I love this bulletin james thanks for this

  • I love this bulletin me

  • WOW. I rember this day so well. Was raining and I got back from school and my mum said Jill was dead

  • Jenny Bond looks like this person from my college right at the start of this bulletin before the light comes on

  • 5:06

  • 10:00

  • i loved this lady xx

  • This is from 26th April 1999

  • Well at the time I used (for this recording) a general tape that had already been used a fair bit, as it was a general recordings tape for watching stuff later. Explains all really, pretty knackered.

  • Comment removed

  • You're indeed correct... back in 99 our TV had an aerial on top of it.... that's why there's fuzziness.

The problem with the picture and sound is because I used to record most things at the time in LP mode, which compressed more onto the videotape instead of SP.

  • Comment removed

  • What videotape did you use for this recording

  • Hiya can you post up the ending to part two

  • Hiya any chance of posting up the fifteen minutes past six part of this bulletin

  • Hiya can you see what other news you have please ukgoldfan from BBC One

  • It was revealed that Barry George had murdered Jill Dando and was sentenced to life in Jail. But after 7 years, he was released

  • Comment removed

  • jill dando was actually ment to co present this bulletin but because of her death she was replaced by jennie bond

  • Hiya how many six 0 clock news bulletins do you have from the virtual era

  • Martin Lewis and Jenny Bond are the newscasters on the day when Jill Dando was murdered by stalkers. Check out more BBC Six O'clock News Titles on aussiebeachut and 15hl channels. Ian Orlando

  • Thanks for this upload jamestheposh

  • Wow brilliant upload great stuff do you have any Six 0 Clock News with Martyn Lewis and Moira Stuart it be nice to see some on you tube

  • do you have the episode of crimewatch after jill had died with nick ross's tribute

  • unfortunately this is is all I recorded

  • Are you sure thats the day when Jill Dando was murdered because on Monday it was Moira Stuart and Martyn Lewis

  • Hiya jamestheposh fabulous news bulletin thanks for uploading it

  • Whats wrong with the news bulletin at the start its got a slight line going down it

  • Hiya jamestheposh do you by any chance have the fifteen minutes past six from the same bulletin because i tried to look for it in the middle of part two if its not already up can you upload it

  • It'll be somewhere between 4 mins and 6 mins on the part two video at the top of the box on the left.

  • I dont know what number it is

  • Part 2 of course.

It's uploaded in 10 minute parts (as these were uploaded before youtube lifted its 10-minute video limit), so part one is 6:00-6:10, part two is 6:10-6:20 and part three is 6:20-6:30

Sometimes theydidn't mention the time at 6:15, they just expected the viewer to look at a clock if they wanted to know what time it was.

  • Comment removed

  • Well this is the proof that they sometimes didn't

  • I cant believe how some people are doing fireworks

  • where are people doing fireworks?

  • Well actually AidanLunn last night I heard fireworks you see

  • Well it might have been someone's birthday

Or it might have been part of some religious celebration as Bradford has a large Muslim population (although I'm not a Muslim so I don't know for sure)

  • Comment removed

  • Hey Aidan can you tell me whats great about a high quality vhs tape such as a normal vhs tape

  • You see Aidan I remember every evening they always use to say the time is 6.15 and still to come pretty different to the programme now

  • Well, as I say, this is proof that they sometimes didn't do that.

I expect they didn't so it on this day as it would have been sort of disrespectful to a famous woman that the production team knew so well.

  • The tapes last longer without the picture degrading.

Though this can depend on the machine.

Sometimes, they just put all these "HQ" "DX" etc on the tape cover when you buy it just to sell more tapes.

Personally, my family have always bought high-quality Scotch, Maxell and "DX" Sony tapes. Some tapes made by Sky TV that we used diidn't last more than a year before turning to cr*p.

  • But what are the good things about a high quality vhs tape

  • Also AidanLunn does the control track also get damaged on high quality vhs tapes

  • yes it does although not as quickly on cheaper tapes.

The tape, despite being the same colour, is made of some kind of special iron oxide particles with chemicals on them which make the last longer and stick better to the tape.

I don't know what these chemicals are called, as I was never very good at Chemistry and Biology. although i was excellent at Physics in my science lessons :)

  • What other damages can happen with high quality tapes Aidan

  • Why do tapes get old due to wear and tear Aidan do you know

  • Well the spinning head drum (that tilting round silver thing inside the video recorder) can wear the tape as it goes at such a high speed.

Also, a mechanical failure can chew the tape.

  • Also Aidan iron oxide particles can wear off from the tape but on higher tapes it doesnt wear out right

  • It does wear out but not as quickly as cheaper normal tapes.

  • Fantastic

  • The picture looks a bit flashy on this news bulletin though

  • A Lot of times I have ejected a tape and when I pulled it out of the video player the tape snaps

  • Well there must be something very wrong with the video player you were using.

Did you see Fun House this morning on Challenge???

  • Also can high quality tapes lose its quality and become unplayable

  • Yeah, but they take alot more damage to become unplayable than cheaper blank tapes.

  • Why does the erase heads erase that part of the tape

  • Because otherwise, you'll get that flashing colour all the way through. I've seen a recording made on a machine with a "dead" (broken) erase head, and the constant flashing colour through a 1hr 40min film gets very annoying.

  • Does that also happen with age

  • I don't think so.

  • Why is the quality bad on this tape Aidan

  • The wierd flickering colours at the start are where the erase heads haven't erased that bit, so there is still the signal that was previously on that part of the tape is still there. This is because the erase heads take several more seconds to gain enough power than the audio, video and control track heads.

The general fuzzi-ness of the picture throughout could be caused by a poor signal if Jamestheposh lives in a poor reception area.

  • Why has the erase heads not erased that bit

  • I wonder what tape Jamestheposh used for this video recording

  • Cant the colours flicker with high quality vhs as well then

  • yep. The tape makes no difference, as it's the machine's erase heads that cause that.

  • What are erase heads

  • How does the erase heads work and how does it work when it gets older

  • The erase heads erase the signal that was previously on the tape before the heads inside the head drum record the new signal onto the tape.

It uses an electromagnet (a magnet that's only magnetic when charged with electricity) to scramble the iron particles again, thus erasing the old signal.

  • Comment removed

  • How can the head drum record the new signal on the tape and how can it erase the old signal

  • I already explained them yesterday

  • Alright Aidan sorry about this

  • What happens to the old signal

  • The erase head wipes it off.

  • When

  • When you are recording something.

  • I am a bit mad

  • You know when a plastic casing breaks from a tape

  • what about it?

  • When the colours start to flickr can they become the same as this video then or is this due to Jamestheposh living in a bad signal area

  • I think it's because of the way the video threads the tape. Because of the way the parts are laid out inside the VCR, when the tape is going through the mechanism, after the left brake pads, the first thing the tape goes acoss will be the erase heads, then the video head drum, which records. The bit of tape already exposed will encounter the video head drum first because of the way it is loaded. As the previous signal hasn't been erased on this little bit, this is what the flashing colours are.

  • Well what if the colour didnt flickr and the erase signal didnt wipe the heads

  • I think you mean erase heads didn't wipe the signal . .

If they didn't do that then the colours would flicker. The colour flickering is caused by the erase heads not erasing the signal.

  • Plus did you see this CITV continuty from 1994 that MrTVBoy uploaded the quality is really fantastic on that can you tell me how he might have kept this in good quality over the years

  • Yes I've just seen it.

I don't know why it's in such quality. It might be whatever he has used to capture the video to his PC from his VCR. Do you use DVD ripping or one of those USB to VCR things?

  • I think Aidan his video must have been in good condition

  • Yes. Jill Dando's murder makes me feel sad. James, I guess this is one of Martin Lewis' final newscast before he left the BBC in May 1999. R.I.P., Jill Dando. Do not spam or erase this message so everyone can read. No spammers, please! Diana M. May 11, 2009

  • This is from 26th April 1999 as it says Jill Dando's death

  • What happened to Martin at 05:06?

  • . . .that's Alan Yentob. It even says his name on the screen a few mins later. You can type, why can't you read?

  • I know who he is. I'm talking about Martin Lewis, and I was meant to say 05:56.

  • Well at 05:56, Jennie Bond appears, not Martin Lewis.

  • I wish jamestheposh uploaded some more six 0 clock news with Martyn Lewis and Moira Stuart

  • Hiya AidanLunn do you know if this bulletin has a fifteen minute past six part if so could you tell me what number its at

  • working it out at 10 mins per part, it would be somewhere in the middle of part two :)

  • Aidan can you ask James The Posh to upload the quarter part six part on this bulletin

  • a) why can't you ask him?

    b) it is on - in the middle of part two

  • Alright Aidan your right there but can you give me the minutes and seconds please

  • Hey Aidan can you give me the minues and the seconds for the fifteen minutes past six

  • You know what AidanLunn I would love to see some full six 0 clock news with Martyn Lewis and Moira Stuart from the year of 1998 and 1999

  • Well I don't have any, but I would like to see more 9:00 news with Michael Buerk :D

  • Its ok AidanLunn not a problem

  • what year do you think the six o'clock news was from at around 10:00

  • I think, during the 90s, she really was "Mrs BBC", in the same way that Michael buerk was "Mr BBC" during the same period.

I remember being about 8 when this was broadcast.

    Such a tragic loss :(
