  • Thanks for adding this video. Your friends were honest...and I appreciated understanding how other people might feel about WLS.

  • I meant "squirmed"

  • I know these are your homegirls, but I definately suirmed while watching it. My bestfriend knowsme and trusts my decisions enough to say, clearly this isn't the easy way out because I see you work hard in everything else you do. I hope these ladies continue to be around as your new life continues to unfold.

  • Great Video..you are very lucky to have your best friends support you..and be there for you..best wishes always

  • Thanks Cora. Hope you're doing well, hope to see you soon?!

  • wow, I am impressed, both of your friends had awesome answers to your first question. I hate the title "easy way out" I would love to know who said that first. Thanks for sharing this!

  • Thanks for watching :) I hate the "easy way out" phrase, too. I think I may have been the one to bring it up in this conversation...but I'm sure they'd thought of it before that.

  • No I didn't mean in your interview, I meant in "general" People say it's the easy way out. I'm losing 2-3 pounds a week, working out, and think about food 18 hours a day, trying to always plan ahead, how is that easy. Easy would be someone like your friend who has NEVER had to worry about weight. I was very impressed when she made that comment. She's never been in our shoes, so she can not speak for US. I think you all did a great job on thsi video, honest and open.

  • Oh! lol, yeah, I wonder that, too. Like who was the first one to think and say aloud that weight loss surgery was easy. I agree. Nothing about it is easy. It's hard from the second I wake up to the moment I fall asleep. And I wouldn't want someone who has never been overweight to speak for me...that's just silly :) Thanks for your comments, they're much appreciated!

  • I am so sorry to have to say all that WE LOVE AND SUPPORT YOUR JOURNEY! 1000% and we would have even if we didnt have the surgery. Being overweight gives you a sense of HUMILITY..."unassuming nature" about the world. The one comment about choosing life at all cost was sincere! "CHIN HIGH" xoxo

  • You rock Abbie. Thanks SO MUCH for your support and you're right...I haven't met an overweight person who wasn't humble. Chosing life is the only choice! See you soon :)

  • great video...reminds me of my friends a lot. my friends are 50/50 when it comes to it. they are just worried more because i'm pre surgery. i would love to make a video like this down the road! :)

  • Thanks! Yeah, most people in my life were about 50/50 on surgery. I'd totally love to see a video like this from you down the road. Which is REALLY soon!

  • I think your friend was trying to say "surgically enforced diet"...lol

  • lol, totally.

  • Thanks for watching :)

  • I am a subscriber to your videos and I have watched them all. Please don't take this the wrong way, but I really did not like this video. When I watched it, I felt bad for you because you had friends that did not 100% support your decision. It also bothered me that they said it was not the easy way out for YOU, but that means that it is the easy way out for some people. How is cutting your stomach, making yourself sick, and becoming vitamin deficiant EASY for anyone?

  • Thank you for subscribing and I really do appreciate your comment. I agree that gastric bypass is certainly not the easy way out for anyone, and it's clear to me that people who don't concern themselves with these types of issues or have them really don't understand. I think I made this video mostly for myself...to hear what they really thought. I posted it because I felt it had some value for those considering surgery or people who are post-op.

  • I think it was most important to me that I was 100% committed to this surgery and maybe less important that I was 100% supported. And it's hard for people to support something they don't understand. Thank you sincerely for your comment.

  • great video

  • Thank you!

  • i just don't know what kind of world this would be if i didn't have these food/eating issues....i can't imagine being in your friends shoes anymore than they can imagine being in ours i guess.

  • I don't know either! It seems like it would be so much easier...but who's to say we wouldn't have other issues. I guess the important thing is that we're dealing with them the best way we know how.

  • Great video, although I think it was a bit hard to watch the whole "easy way out talk" but everyone has a right to their own opinion and as they said, they don't know or really understand because they have never been there.

  • Yeah, I was really afraid of the "easy way out" question...but I am glad they were able to just say "I don't know because I've never been there" instead of being judgemental. Thanks for watching :) Hope you're doing well!

  • Very interesting. I liked that you liquored them up before asking them the honest truth. LOL!

  • HAHA, yeah, I know how to get things done :)

  • Apparently! You mean business.

  • Do I ever!

  • The easy way out... jeeze how much suffering would be enough for people to not consider it 'easy'. Thanks for making this video, it was a little hard to watch so I can imagine it took some bravery to make it. ~Steve

  • I agree. It was a little hard for me to listen to, but I'm glad I did. It just goes to show that unless you've had trouble with food, weight, etc. that you really just don't get it. Glad you suffered through and watched it though :)

  • great friends to tell you there opinions good and bad.:D

  • Thanks :)

  • very nice! a really good candid conversation..i have some friends that are super supportive and then there's one that has disappeared on me...like she really can't handle it anymore and that makes me feel very sad. thanks for sharing.

  • I'm sorry to hear about your friend Janie :( It's strange how something like losing weight and becoming healthy can alienate the people around us. Very bazaar!

  • im wonderign how my friends are gonna deal with surgery..i havw a few thin friends who i suspect will have a very difficult time with me being as thin or thinner then them, glad youre friends handle it well. some people get very competative and catty. Becca

  • I hear you Becca...I have a feeling when I get down to a "normal" size there might be a little more competition there. We'll see! I hope your friends deal with it well...and if they don't, well...maybe they weren't true friends anyhow.

  • I know for a fact i'll have issues with one, my quasi sister/cousin/non blood related friend since in vitro but i'll have to deal with it poor thing cant help her vanity her family is insanely vain.

  • Yeah, some people are raised to be vain, which is a shame. I hope she can work through her issues.

  • Interesting! :)

  • Indeed! :)

  • Or how to ruin a friendship... ;o)

No it's very interesting to see people outside this world reacting to the surgery of somebody they know...

  • Haha! Nah, I think I'll keep them around for a while ;) Thank you for watching.

  • very cool getting friends opinions on this subject. i know it's hard to deal with skinny girls for friends...all mine are!!! LOL

  • I know! Stupid skinny friends...I thought it would be particularly interesting since neither of them have any issues with weight or food.
