@dhongkie Takahiko inoue is still alive he even made new basketball animes...he just wanted people to read the manga version of Slamdunk rather than watching. because by doing the anime he had to cut and add some stuff thats not on the manga, so he felt the story is being compromised due to the restrictions of doing an anime series. try reading the manga its far more detailed than the anime version.

apparently the author wanted his readers to follow the manga. The anime version some what changed some of the plots so he stopped around before the interhigh prelim. read the mangas at spectrum vectrum you'll see the difference.

have you seen the part when shohoku was down by 20 and everyone was already accepting defeat then sakuragi rallied them back by tip ins and rebounds.

yeah everyone except sakuragi who doesn't understand the magniture of the hole they got into. against the best team he doesn't undertstand that its imposible to comeback. then he started with tip ins and rebounds, he let everyon score by rebounding the ball whenever they miss. mitsui hit all the 3 pointers.

mate you can read the whole manga on spectrum nexus. there first round opponent toyotama was really good Toyotamas ace they call him ACE Killer he injured Fujima from last years interhigh. then he injured Rukawa too. InterHigh was an amazing read you'll enjoy it a lot.
