@Gieselle33 btw in this VERSION of 'my motherland' they have skipped the 'anti-American' verse and in fact they skipped that whole stanza except for the chorus. So that makes this VERSION not anti-American at all! This version only praises china and nothing else! Hope u understand what I'm saying :)
@Gieselle33 okay there have been many misunderstandings... What they r talking about is "Ode to the motherland" and u r talking about "My motherland" these two r very very different songs. Yes, "my motherland" was a song played in a Chinese film about the Korean war but the song itself isn't anti-American nor about the Korean war( well, not very much), 99% of it praises china however there is only ONE sentence in the song that is obviously anti-american which is "when the wolves come we will gr
If you say so, is then "America the Beautiful" anti-world? Blessed by God? We glorify our "Stars Spangled Banner" as well.
Is there anything politically incorrect for a country to encourage its citizens to appreciate the beauty of the motherland and to build a strong and prosperous country.?
I don't see any implications in the lyrics of "Ode to My Motherland" which are Anti-American. There is no antagonistic reference to the United States.
@eagle3x8 that's because you don't know the background of this song. it is the theme song for china's most popular anti-amierican movie during the korean war. learn some history man. iv seen too many self-righteous ppl who claim to love china but know nothing abt it. btw america is only a country, it doesn't even worth to be anti-world, ok?
"Ode to the Motherland" (simplified Chinese: 歌唱祖国; traditional Chinese: 歌唱祖國; pinyin: Gēchàng Zǔguǒ) is a famous patriotic song of the People's Republic of China, written and music composed by Wang Xin (Chinese: 王莘; pinyin: Wáng Xīn) (October 1918–October 15, 2007) during the period immediately after the founding of the People's Republic of China (1949-1951). It is sometimes honoured as "the second national anthem" of the PRC.
China is still a developing country. Though it's ranked no. 2 in the world's economy, there is a huge wealth gap between the cities and the rural areas. There is still much for the country to learn to raise social standards and food safety. Though there are many Mercedes', BMW's and VW's on the road, there are still a lot of man powered bicyles and tricyles used for transportation in the villages.
bmws and mercedes on the streets does not show development. If this were the case, the usa would be a developed country, which it isnt these day. China is developing but at a faster pace than any country at the moment and the usa is heading to a failed state faster than ever b4. The problems for china are living standards, revalue the yuan, and combating US presence in asia. If 2/3 issues can be resolve soon which i think it will be, china will become developed by 2020.
We have July the 4th celebration every year though not as officially organized, but we have fireworks everywhere in our country. Besides, we don't have the budget to stage such an elaborate show. For another comment, "America the Beautiful" is better and more meaningful than our official national anthem.

America consists of North and South America, two of the world's seven continents. America is not a country!
