@Voss2120 The battle of passchendale was real, it was fought by the 2e canadian army (i think) and was the first operation of ww1 to be thoroughly planned. In less than 2 day, the whole hill was in canadian hand (the british lost 300 000 men in 2 failed attemp and the french 200 000)

Hmm I do have to say the beginning was iffy but when u finally got to the movie it made sense and so did the music. Nah. WW1 was pretty much over by the time the American's turned up. They were there for the cleanup, but the majority of the western front was pretty much broken and moving again by the time they were down. Monash and the Canadian/Australian forces pretty much finished things.

True, but at that same time it was getting mobile again, the Germans were redeploying troops to the west after Russia left the war to fight the Communist Revolution. It would have became a stalemate again in a few months. When the Germans realized that American troops were on the way, they knew that they would lose, being so heavily outnumbered. Better to quit while your ahead. The Entente never actually made it into Germany.

At that point they were already starving at home, their economy buggered. The Australian and Canadian troops had already broken through german lines a number of times, they were falling apart. By the time the American's turned up, the stalemate was basically over.
