i am haitian i live in philadelphia, i was in new york city when cnn announced it with my family, they were drinking BARBANCOURT, eating griot etc. it was a celebration that i would never forget.

i was at the riot at liberty city. it was CRAZY. people doing the electric slide in the middle of the street and nobody minded that they were blocking traffic. People hugging strangers, police high fiving you...it was amazing. :-)
