  • @David lol

  • woah i'm going to barbados....then coming back with a suitcase full of coke

  • Must admit... When i first heard this i thought it was a black dude singing...

  • @martini356 Please ask your mate to tell his dad that Dave S the Energised tape operator from the session says 'Hi'. I hear that Jeff is now a pilot... Funnily enough!

  • @GWC1975 There were about ten of us on the 'whoas'. I was a tape operator at the studio and on the session. I made sure my voice could be picked out through the topography of microphone placement and, indeed, I can distinguish my voice. The Vengaboys sampled our 'whoas' so I've been at No.1 in the singles charts twice!

  • It would be good if only one could hear it !Pump up the volume !

  • whoa, i was honestly not expecting du to be white! great tune.

  • Forgot to say, how can the woman at 2 minutes & 35 seconds who's directly opposite the camara clap out of time so badly? sing along..."Now I now she gives a blow".

  • A true '1 Hit Wonder' making number 1 in the U.K on the 5th-July-75. What a classic!

"Wo, I'm going to Barbados , Wo, back to the palm trees, Wo I'm gona shag my girlfriend, right up her tight Jacksie!!!

  • In 1975 i went to a jamaican house party, being the only white guy there, this jamaican guy of around the same age, started bragging that you white guys cant sing as good as us black guys ? i led him to the DJ who was playing this recording at that time, and asked if band was black or white ! never heard a peep off the jamaican all night !!! - D'oh ?

  • I knew a bloke who plays guitar

  • My neighbours best friends Aunty had a brother were clapping in the audience.

  • We didnt have internet in 1975 or for at least another ten years or more.

  • Friends the poor poor internet legend Wilf Turnbull has written to these popstars

    Read and wet yourselves

  • Yaremus was involved that is true,But he had to let the whole band bend him over and ram him up the arse to get the job.

  • @DIKKKKYYY I thought that line was written by Stan Butler when he worked for the Luxton Bus Company.

  • Absolute summer classic - Their album only sold 8000 copies but should've sold more as it contains tracks lightyears ahead of their time. Were TT mutated into Captain Zero (another Gull records act) - Anybody know? as their track is in the same vein.

  • whoa, we are going to eat pizza~

  • my mates dad is the singer - jeff calvert

  • Great old stuff, they no longer make songs as good these days - what a shame! When there were no computers you actually had to be able to sing real well to make it as a singer - maybe this is why?

Check out the cover versions by Goombay Dance Band and Vengaboys (We're Going to Ibiza)

  • ja hoor swingend hoor whoehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa hahahahhahahah

  • I recorded my single Sing Zing in the same studio in the same year. Didn't go to number 1, though : ( Please have a listen....I'm the bass player and the one with the curly hair in the photo. Long lost record...long lost hair! Look up Woodfog on MySpace

  • Did not know that Vengaboys copied this song.

  • luv this song

  • According to FB this was the #1 song on my b-day. Guess I'll have to go on holiday there.

  • THIS SONG IS FANTASTIC!!!

  • Great song. Thanks for posting.

  • One thing missing from this performance - Pan's People in bikinis and fur coats!

  • the pilot was the lead vocalist doing a fake accent or the keyboard player, one of the two

  • Tobias...Coconut Airways!!! would not be aloud to use such racist remarks these days. Too many do-gooders around.

  • Exactly! A tune like this couldnt happen nowadays!! And "Mary-Jane met the Coconut Airplane"!!?? Sounds well dodgy!

  • @monkwhitley Er, not racist. They have coconuts in the Caribbean.

  • I was one of the people who sang 'whoa! on the record. I was a tape op at Morgan Studios and worked on this song.

  • Cool! Who was the 'Pilot' in the song? Was he a real barbadian?

  • @yaremus You must be proud. Great song, lots f fun. Vengaboys cover is even kitschier.

  • @yaremus nice one

  • @yaremus

Do you remember how many of you sang the "whoa"? I'm curious how many voices that lyric is composed of.

  • @GWC1975 I think you just shout whoa all the time.

  • Thursday July 17 1975- Top Of The Pops. Lousy Black & White Telly I had to watch this on - But still better than any Venga Boys crap version.
