ever heard of sink mud? its mud with a high content of fine grain gravle( found around lakes, streams and rivers) does bout the same thing as quicksand but the sinking is almost instant. the moment you put weight into the step your stuck. luckily its never over kneedeep in depth. its a bitch to get out of and often has a foul smell

this is so weird - i saw this in finland once (no one will believe me) but they took sand from the bottom of the ocean to make bigger boats fit in the harbour. and they dumped the sand in the middle of the woods, so when i walked with my dog i found this. but i didnt understand what it was so i started to walk on it. both me and my dog started to sink and i got panic. my dog run away and got stuck, im glad he got free and survived... :S

Quick sand is like corn starch when you hit it the soil does not absorb any water so it's hard soil but when yo touch it slowly you let some water come in to more movable so when you want to get out go slowly. the only difference with corn starch and regular mud is that QUICKSAND SOIL IS VERY STICKY VERY STICKY AND PROBABLY VERY DENSE

Some quicksand you can't actually run across, it just sucks your shoes off. (I have lost my shoes a couple of times in bad quicksand, used to live across a bay and when the tide was low I would take a shortcut across it)

I just learned all about quicksand when I stepped in some last week. It was the kind that appeared dry at the top, but was plenty soft underneath. It lost my right shoe when I stepped back over the creek bank. When I bent over to get my shoe, I had to pull & pull.

quicksand doesn't swallow whole.. u only sink to ur Buoyant level of ur body. seen as quicksand is more buoyant then water. main problem when stuck in quick sand is either the tide something in if ur on tidal flats or exposer to the elements... like the sun.. or the cold. movies have it all wrong lol

@xyfutura Well... you're half right. On it's own quicksand will only pull you to your buoyant level, but people tend to HELP the quicksand. When you try to pull your left leg up, the right leg will sink deeper because you'll be pushing off it. And vice versa.
