  • as long as the game u wanna play got opengl options then you'll be able to play it on linux

  • mmm.... but U can't expand the window of the game.. to see it in full screen??

  • you think half life 2 is high powered?? have you ever heard of a game called crysis?

  • @o0ZporK0o crysis sucks ass and plus half life 2 looks better than that shit ass game.

  • @shadow444222 I agree that Crysis sucks, but to say that half life 2 looks better, that's just out right lying, or denial

  • @o0ZporK0o well even if i used crysis i would set my pc on fire from the stress of the game but the only real good part of crysis is that its great for benchmarking, nothing more nothing less.personally half life 2 and left 4 dead look somewhat better than that game if u ask me.

  • @KoolKluxKlan666 What weird Linux version have you been playing around with?

  • @Demoras i belive it is linix mint cause thats what the title says.

  • @shadow444222 No. Pay attention, young grasshopper. As it is clearly stated, I responded to KoolKluxKlan666's comment, which had nothing to do with this video, but was a statement about how he thinks the sound system in Linux worked. I made my comment because no modern Linux system has the audio troubles he talked about.

  • Based on update to installs they estimate approx 8% of user outside the usa use Linux and in the US approx 1.5% overall it is estimated approx 30 million users and is the only OS with growing market share.

  • I hope the Linux one day beat Windows! Linux is good becouse... its free!!

  • LOOL, afcource it will work in linux. If you just now how to install the correct direct dll's and font's, it is no problem to get any game to work!

  • Laggin, but thats the damn screen recorder :/

  • that awsome man that better then what my pc can do in windows! but what do you have in fps when your not recording?

  • Give linux 2-3 more years and you'll see how much Linux ubuntu will habe surpassed Windows.

  • theres no need to give it that long (not trying to be a dick correcting you). I am running Ubuntu and I am playing Fallout 3 on in on the highest settings witch windows wouldn't let me do. I am using Play on linux btw to run my game just so you too can run your pc games too :]. LINUX IS THE SEX

  • Yeah but from what I know, this all goes trough Wine, which slows down performances.

    NO ?

  • Yes it dose go through wine the it wont slow it down but you can still game in linux i have a gaming PC that runs games great in linux but still you have a good point its mostly up to your PC

  • @smoke489

2-3 years? Linux already surpassed windows :D

  • @CodeyTheQuiet: You're totally right, especially on the security part ( like 14 years ago that happen ).

First time I ran half-life it was on a XP machine, all I got was G-Mans voice, blackness and random stuff on the screen ( something looked like grass that you were hovering above... ).

Crappy Intel card, It almost worked with Portal: the reason I bought all those games. My current computer is getting a little bit old, so does anyone recommend Mac? ( I'll run Linux on it of course ;)

  • @salmiak911 if u run linix on a mac then it should run good but the install is hit and miss for some macs so it could be worth a shot.

  • @CodeyTheQuiet in awesomeness yes but not in the amount of people using it..

  • @smoke489 it already has dude

  • steam doesn't actually use the GFX card if u have one in with Linux Mint. I get that damn update drivers thing when I load up a game. Can't even play TF2 :(

  • i guess u could give us a complete discription of how to install wine and this game

  • What exactly are his PC specs is what I'm wondering.

  • Working Half Life 1 (non-Steam) on this?

  • Half-Life 1 works, but I'm having trouble with playing mods. It doesn't find some dll-file when loading. I have CS 1.6 as a different installation and it works like a charm.

  • Thank you.

  • i love linux

  • You'll probably need Dual Core for a game like HL2 to run well. I tried running CS:S with a Athlon64 3000+ and it was almost a slideshow.

  • im pretty sure u have no advantage in HL2 with a dual core, but a better GFX card.

  • what screencast prog?

  • The software is called recordmydesktop. It's available in Mint via the package manager. Make sure to get the gtk front-end as well else that software won't have a GUI.

  • Awesome!

    "Who says Linux can't game?"

    Exactly!

  • Another thing people there a wealth a games made for Linux. The X series is Linux only and very cool check out Linux Games Publishing on the Internet to view a sample of the massive amount of games made for Linux.

  • wait, my vista using friend plays all the X games...

  • I stand corrected but check out Linux Games Publishing - major cool

  • well my friend appears to be an l33t haxx0r so he could have patched it or found a patch or something...

I've never been interested in the X games... so I wouldn't really know...

  • It worth noting that with Cross Over Elimination software Half Life 2 will work on any Linux distribution. The people of Half Life told the the people of Cross Over the API codes before the game was release so there was compatibility even before the game went on sale!!! This is getting very common with popular games that they are ensuring they work on Linux with Cross Over even before the hit the shops... Which is VERY COOL

  • I'm gonna test out Linux mint in a virtual machine right now. This is impressive

  • are you using Linux Mint 4.0 Daryna ?

  • Yes it is 4.0 Daryna.

  • are you using Linux Mint 4.0 Daryna ?
