After Frank leaves, Dr. Forester kinda acts like a little kid who's best friend has move away. He doesn't have anyone around to play games with! Only his demasculating mother. Thank goodness she *didn't* have that daughter.
And I think Mike has a little cold. :(
Oh, and that music stand brings back so many high school memories.
@AustralianTVClassics At 5:04 it's the Tiger Rag, better known as "Hold That Tiger"-- First recorded in 1917, but it was around before that. It became a big hit again in 1931 for the Mills Brothers. (More than you ever wanted or needed to know.)
I love everybody. Trace, Mary Jo, Kevin, Bill, Frank, Joel AND Mike. And everyone who ever served as short-term/one shot roles. I feel like not enough people say this. :P
@Minyositine You're right, random guy. It was really foolish of me not to have seen this season, which never aired in my country. Thanks for showing me the error of my ways.
I really dislike Mary Jo for some reason, more annoying than funny, even moreso when she took over for Trace. I like how she keeps calling Crow "Art", though. :P
:C I remember seeing the poopie reel and seeing Trace get smacked so hard his mouth start bleeding. I can't watch the trombone solo anymore without feeling extreme sympathy/nausea now. T_T
MST3K is actually on eof the things that brought my husband and I together in the first place. He saw to it that "Manos" was my first. It explains a lot about us, really.
Mike`s "I was known as something of a Chic Handler" joke at 5:35 only works if you ignore the C of the surname, but not the christian name....he`s actually a "hick handler" which is a different thing altogether....
@DementedJuggalette thanks. That sure is a lot nicer and makes a lot more sense for Cambot to say. In any case we can assume that the theory about depressed people wanting to kill themselves to "subliminal messages" from Ozzy or Metallica is even more laughable if they were also mst3k fans and heard what I thought I heard.
If anyone could get me a copy of episode 213 I would be eternally grateful. I could pay you for the DVD and postage but not for the program itself, that would be illegal.
@feverdeanmg My previous account was deleted for uploading the Godzilla and Gamera MST3K episodes, unfortunately. I can't risk it with this account, but you can download it free from the Digital Archive Project (it's where I get all my episodes).
Science-Fiction conventions are probbably your best bet for getting your hands on loads of MST3K episodes (and probbably every single one ever made).
Sci-Fi/fantasy conventions (and even comic book, and action-figure ones), are a great place to score loads of bootlegged copys of things that either were never publicly released, or are so obscure that it's almost impossible to find copies.
I even got a copy of the Nick Fury TV movie at one.
there needs to be some MST3K festival or something for fellow MST3k'ers to come and enjoy this, because i sure as hell don't know anyone else (except for my best friend) who will sit through this with me.
@amyvonfink I agree - I went to the second convention in 1996 and attended (among many other things) the midnight viewing of Manos. A huge ballroom full of msties in their pajamas. A little bit of heaven on earth....
In one of the earlier episodes, Joel did a host segment where he introduced Crow as "Art Crow", in the same way Jackie Gleason would introduce Art Carney. A kid saw the segment and sent in a letter addressing "Art", aka Crow. The guys thought it was hilarious and decided to make it a running gag. It's a pretty obscure joke.
I wonder if the theology of this short is compatible or clashes with the theology of "Out of this World." Would there be Crusades and Holy Wars if these were the two debating philosophies?
Gotta add my voice to those who listen to the show at bedtime. Don't know why it works, but I like having the guys on as I'm going to sleep. Its comforting. Even with episodes like this, where Mike is screaming hideously as torturous things are being done to his body. It's a lullaby, i tell ya!
I always turn on a episode of MST3K while I'm going to sleep or studying (which I've be doing a lot off because I have university finals coming up), so you guys are certainly not alone in that idea. Personally, I just find the voices really soothing and comforting to listen to when I'm trying to relax or concentrate.
Im seriously just happy im not the only lunatic that still loves this show. i dont have one friend thatll actually sit through this stuff with me....im guessing its because you actually have to pay attention.
Not necessarily,, I have it on in the background while I practice piano and guitar, or paint, or do chores or just about anything, even when I go to sleep. It's the ultimate white noise, I've sworn by it for many years now
hahaha yeah ive slept to this show or painted or pretty much everything you mentioned except piano. But usually its episodes ive seen a million times.....which is most of them. Id say i wish theyd bring it back, but im sure theyd find a way to ruin even this gem.
There used to be a topic on one of the MST3K Myspace groups that was for people who go to sleep to MST3K. It is so strange - there are a ton of us that have been watching for a long time and do the exact same thing. Something about the quiet voices - they are so familiar and comforting.
I play MST3K on youtube while I'm at work almost every day. I could never figure out why but having it on in the background helps me focus and concentrate. And I fall asleep to it almost every night. Nice to know I'm not the only one! I thought I was little weird.
You're not weird! I watch it 24/7! I am obsessed with it. I'll listen to it while I'm even doing homework!!!! It does help you concentrate! I'm actually doing my homework and watching this one right now! Love MST3K!!!!!!
@rachelee8801 I'm rachelee8801 and I'm a MST-aholic. Hi rachelee! But seriously, I'm glad I'm not the only one who puts this on when I go to bed and watches it at work. Now I watch it with my kids and inflict it on my students (I teach college--the "Cheating" short is great when talking about plagiarism and I like to show a "Date With Your Family" before holiday breaks). Sad, but it has gotten me through a lot of bad days and nights over the years. Rowsdower!
@rachelee8801 I fall asleep to it too, and I used to do homework to it when I was in school (and when I bothered to do any homework). Falling asleep to it is actually kind of bothersome because it keeps me up for a good 45 minutes, but I just have to watch...!
@rachelee8801 Nope. I put it on in the background while I grade papers (I am a college instructor) and play them while I fall asleep. Long live MST3K!
@rachelee8801 No you're not. I was a late comer. I became a fan back in '99. I used to work graveyard and every morning when I would get home, this show would be on Sci-Fi. After the first time I was hooked. The one episode that stuck out for me since '99, before great people like Tirol and Spookett blessed us, was "Agent for H.A.R.M." I'd never laughed so hard at a television program. And every morning, i'm at work yawning because I stayed up watching the short, "Out of this World."
I thought this as well, but he might be saying show yourself...but knowing a character who never really gets any camera time I wouldn't blame him for saying that
No, that's not it. He explained that once all his original co-stars (Josh Weinstein, Joel Hodgeson, and Frank Coniff) all left the show, he felt way out of place. And after Increadible Melting Man, he felt as dead as the title character at the end of the film and he had to consider another line of work since he didn't feel up to riffing anymore. It wasn't a total loss since he began working on AFV with Josh soon after.
It makes sense because there is a notable difference in how Trace portrays "Dr.F" after Frank. It is difficult to describe, but it is felt in the air. The loss of Frank was the K.O. It is amazing the show was able to pull together the way it did. It looked bad, really bad there for awhile. I was just trying to make light of, what is for me, one of the sad points in the show's history. Thanks for relating the background, as I'm sure we all wondered what Trace was going through at the time.:-)
Mike and Kevin were both with the cast longer than Frank was. I've heard conflicts with Mallon cited for the reasons most of them left. Frank says he was just ready to move on but everyone else mentions Mallon!
Horse's mouth said it did. I was at a panel discussion on November where several Cinematic Titanic members talked of troubles with Jim. Frank repeated the statement in a podcast about two weeks ago.
@pretorious700 I guess you're right, I hadn't considered that-- But I never cared what color my phones were, either, so that may just be me. After all, people were putting "wallpapers" on the postage-stamp sized screens on their cell phones in the 90s, too. At least now they're big enough to see.
Is this the inspiration for the Power Steves?

Does it seem like cambot says "kill yourself" to anybody else??
fritzthecat4455 2 years ago 3
It does sound a bit like "kill yourself", but I believe he's saying "show yourself".

common misheard bots phrases:
Cambot: Kill yourself!
Gypsy: Hey fruity!
Crow: Bat Gauno!

I thought this as well, but he might be saying show yourself...but knowing a character who never really gets any camera time I wouldn't blame him for saying that

Thanks for posting!... 'Blood Beast' is one of the quintessential Roger Corman movies, featuring Ed Nelson, Bronson Canyon, and a big, goofy monster!

THANKS for posting these! I was hoping someone would put this up with the non-TD host segments. Awesome!

(Mary Jo accidentally split Trace's lip there at 4:40 when she whacked the trombone.)
So, the whole point of ONCE UPON A HONEYMOON is to tout COLORED phones? Was that really that big a deal?

So that's why Trace left the show. Physical assault on the job:-(.

@fmdfs667
The official website has stated the debates with Jim Mallon never occured.

Horse's mouth said it did. I was at a panel discussion on November where several Cinematic Titanic members talked of troubles with Jim. Frank repeated the statement in a podcast about two weeks ago.

am i the only one that finds this upsetting? My parents were never divorced but this must be what it feels like :(

@GoblinXXX It was then. Those old 50 pound bakelite phones were always black.
pretorious700 9 months ago
@pretorious700 I guess you're right, I hadn't considered that-- But I never cared what color my phones were, either, so that may just be me. After all, people were putting "wallpapers" on the postage-stamp sized screens on their cell phones in the 90s, too. At least now they're big enough to see.
