Works with iPhone 4 running iOS 5.0.1. Just a different file in iFile not N88AP but N90AP. Other than that it's the same procedure. Now why can't apple just stick these things in settings? Control freaks, that's why.
Awesome! Works with iPhone 4 5.0.1, but should work with any iDevice.. Just edit the N[XX]AP.plist no need to kill the LaunchDaemon. If anyone manage to brick their phone on this, i suggest they never do stuff like this again lol
Amazing this still works for iOS 5.0.1, but the viewer does need to know, as was mentioned a couple of months ago that the plist file to edit, will be N##AP.plist, where the ## will be different numbers for everyone.
Now I didn't exactly follow the video's way, I actually read and followed "dan428"'s comment and made it quicker just by going to iFile. So yea just going to clear anyone wondering if it works on an iPhone 4 running iOS 5.0.1..well it does ! And I'm happy to finally have it off ! It gets annoying ! Specially how I activate the multitasking switcher by holding down the home button...it sometimes started the voice control...
Sweet, simple solution to something that ha been annoying me..
For those of you who just want a simple step to disable it without watching the overly long video.. just go into iFile, navigate to /system/library/coreservices/springboard.app.. Then open a file named N##AP.plist (for my ipod it was N81), search for "voice", then edit the "true" value to "false". Save and respring, and youre done.
@dan428 Thanks man! That almost saved my life! :D I set the headset button to start the music, but since ios 5.0.1 if I pressed it this f***in voicecontrol came up.
@dan428 Great advice. No need for the video. I use Hold home button for Quit App in Multicleaner and sometime Voice Control would come up instead. Not any more :)
hi, i did the first step but the second step i could not do it as there was no such file in my ifile. also you navigate through library > core services> springboard. I managed to get to the springboard on my ifile but there was no n90AP or n88AP or any similar name type of file. help?
legend! thanks! it worked! and to the person who said you will never be able to get it back... 1) you can get it back if you save the file you deleted, or if you restore your iphone. 2) WHY WOULD YOU WANT IT BACK!!!
Nice one Dude. Worked Mint on the 4.3.3. Version. Did like most others and changed the N**.plist and didn't delete the deamon. I think most people get a different number in the N***.plist name... but hey... it works and you've created a fix that Apple hasn't even looked at yet. Good Job!!!
Me too, the n88 ... file was called something else (still started with 'N' though).
Thanks a lot for posting this it works perfectly. People have been asking apple to add a disable button for voice control for a very long time with no response from apple.
@simra0071 By doing the first step.. It deletes the functions of voice control meaning if you turn your voice control back it won't be able to work properly
Nice guide!
Thanks this worked great!

I've discovered 3 things.
Go to /system/library/coreservices/springboard.app then open N##AP.plist, as mentioned by others. Open it in property list viewer, tap capabilities.
1. You can set your carrier under device-name
2. You can disable voice commands by going to the bottom and turning off voice-control
3. You can enable multitask gestures for iPod and iPhone by turning on multitasking-gestures. After you respring, go to general settings
Then, just respring and the changes will take effect.
