Well, my wife is a pipa teacher from Beijing. She's going to be staying in the US, West Coast soon. I'll give you more details, if anyone is interested learning. Mind you, she's very strict and she did learn from a pretty good school in Beijing.
nice playing I think that´s a pipa right? I love chinese culture but unfortunately we do not have enough access to your culture or chinese people in my city ( it´s a small one in brazil) but i think you play allright. hei! DO you think you could do me a favor? translate to me in english what that song "once upon a time in china" speak about. I hear that for years and never had a chance to meet a native chinese who spoke english or my language portuguese to translate to me. COULD YOU DO IT? plz
As a musician, upright bassist, I've noticed that you're being too tense, and maybe a bit nervous while performing for us all o.o The reason for the unclean 16th notes is because of the tension >< Otherwise, thank you for performing a beautiful peice :) Remember! There is no such thing as music if there is no emotion or point across with your notes!
Thank you Lisa! I enjoyed your composition. I really got into the Pipa after hearing Shao Rong play Precious Moon on her Orchid album. Keep up your wonderful talent on a very challenging instrument. You are great!
You are beautiful & your music is also beautiful. The whole world is so proud of you. Thank you for your hard work in practicing. Maybe some day you will be famous throughout the whole world & everybody will be thankful for your music.
Very good !! the Pipa, always wanted to know what it was called.I really enjoy Chinese music wish I knew the Language, it's a great language to listen too. Thanks for your video you are talented.
Dear Lisa, thank you for playing for us. We are proud of you & wish you success in the future. Please ignore the people who write unkind responses. I apologize for them. If I had a little sister I'd want her to be you.
@KyokoGirlie That's so kind of you to say! Please check out my new video falling flowers! and be sure to like or leave a comment on there too, if u want :)
And as they say in China: hen hao! (well, maybe they would say something else, but I'm still just learning Chinese... that and my keyboard doesn't have the accent that should had gone there). You got talent! Just don't lose the practice.
And now I think I wanna learn to play Pipa, but for now I'm happy with my guitar 8)
hi lisa! its great what you played!! really nice and thx for this post!i am also very interested in learning how to play pipa. i have difficulties in finding somenone who would teach pipa in germany. maybe u can help me since you mentioned you learned it in china? do i need to understand chinese? how much was it approx? or does someone else has an idea where else i could learn pipa? appreciate for any help!
@mrswong888 Well, it would definitely help to understand chinese, since some of the finger movements you do have chinese names. However, I'm sure you could find a teacher that also speaks english, or in your case german? My chinese is not that good either, but I still managed to learn! lol. My pipa was just a beginner one, so it was not very expensive, I don't remember the exact cost...sorry! Anyways, thanks for the comment! :)
Nice playing, I love it :) I wish I could play one of those...thing is I play piano, guitar, bass, drums, trumpet, trombone, violin and sing...You think thats too much? haha :) GO CHINESE INSTRUMENTS :D
@TheMrmazzah Wow! Playing multiple instruments is definitely really challenging, and takes talent! good job! I only play piano, pipa, and flute. lol :)
I play guitar and bass, and one of my friends had a Cambodian instrument that sat on the floor but required you to press your fingers between elevated frets like that, and it took a lot of finger strength and endurance in order to play it clean and consistent over time... So you have my kudos for taking this instrument on and persevering with it since your visit to China. Congratulations and keep it up!!! You're doing a good job with that style, just keep practicing and feeling it out =)
You picked a difficult instrument to continue but keep at it. You may be able to find a teacher by looking for Chinese cultural centers or, if your city is big enough asking at the Chinese foreign embassy or foreign consular.
OMG You are SOOOO PRETTYY!!!! I'm a Taiwanese American guy who plays the erhu and I find girls who can play pipa or guzheng to be very attractive lol sorry.
@AnnaDoroshkova I only took lessons in china for 3 weeks. I do NOT take lessons at the moment since I can't find a teacher. Anyways, Yes I will try to post more videos of me playing my pipa!
excellent , i found the PIPA about fifteen years ago and always enjoy listening
