I don't think any band has ever had as good a 10-year run as Pink Floyd in the 70's. It's hard to believe they actually made 4 such masterpieces in that time and capped them off with THIS. Gilmour on guitar and Waters on SARCASM is utter victory.
One of my favs. It has such power and emotion behind it. It's sad that there are only a handful of artists like that anymore, most of them Rappers. Rock has died, but it hasn't been forgotten, and thats the important thing.
This movie should be played in high schools everywhere and be apart of the curriculum. You'd be surprised as to how many people can actually relate to this film and not even fully realize it.

@RnRolla47 david is awesome, but you know roger waters wrote must of the stuff david did, songs and lyrics. Roger made pink floyd why they are, david kept it going
@Evele1First of all, it's called "The Madcap Laughs", not the 'madcat'...And yes, Sid wrote many of the original songs but so did Roger and even Nick and Rick....heard "Paintbox"? Please name one melody he ripped off from Sid and I will shut up. Honestly see absolutely NO relation between Floyd w/ Sid and Floyd post Sid, other than his madness being an inspiration for lyrics. Two completely different sounds, two completely different ideas and motives musically.
My favorite song from the Wall the Movie....It gave me such a sense of overwhelming emotions....Very touching song..I wish they still made movies like these...So much meaning and emotions, you do not see such movies anymore...This is an amazing song..
What is amazing about this video to me is it shows even as much as Pink absolutely despised everything about his life and was incredibly better about the whole thing of it, and maybe even despised life itself, he still thought it worth it to fight drowning. It really does a lot to me to show a glimpse of how tormented he really is before you even really get into the movie.
This song is about sub-consciousness. Studies say that 6/7 out of the actions people do are done subconsciously. Think of it as an iceberg. Only 1/7 of the iceberg is outside the water. The problem is, for Mr Pink, his iceberg sinks at 1:47 hence his drowning.
why argue over who in Pink Floyd was right or wrong? Just like the band and appreciate it for what it is- an amazing band, almost if not every song of whom is, was, and always will be an amazing classic. They're ALL good, the members... regardless of disputes between each other
@KillahGreenBud man... that war killed millions- not only in the camps. NO war was ever good... or ever will be. War, when you think about it, is a pretty silly thing in the first place... an evil, horrible thing with no upshots in the long run
@gunsnroses742 your favorite song?! how can you have a favorite song or album of pink floyd!?!! i get confused choosing the best song of pink floyd, they are all best songs!!
@gunsnroses742 the movie was awesome. only 2 things wrong with it. i didn't like the actor singing the songs and if you watch it on tv not dvd the FCC butcher it. they tok songs out and part of songs (the trial and empty spaces)
@CK3890 i have no idea what you're talking about. all i was saying is that good things don't last forever. hence the music of the 60s, writers like Bukowski, flourishing polar bears, pink floyd, etc. don't get all philisophically argumentative, trollboy. i didn't come here to dig in that trashcan.
Actually Roger Waters is a dick, why do you think the other founding members Richard Wright and Nick Mason reformed with Dave Gilmour - Roger was the reason they split and nearly went bankrupt. The Wall is a good album but it nearly ruined the band - Dark Side of the Moon that is a legend album, Time is a classic, one of PFs best!!!!
@hammettsnugo I agree with you on the fact that he made us lose the "true" Pink floyd but the Wall is not just a good album it's one of the greatest album of all time. For me it is even better than Dark Side of the Moon.
I first saw this movie in college in '89 and loved it, but i was straight. Checked it out the next night under different circumstances and it all made sense:)
@MrMadaicseason straight as in straight edge? cause this song ahs nothign to do with bieng gay and i dont see how bieng gay would change the interpretation?

you know whats the funny thing about this song... that it tells the most absolute truth, that at some point in life the ice in which we are skating (innocence) will break and we must not be surprised by it and we must be prepared even though we always get surprised and are never ready
i had to watch high-school musical with my cousins a while back. i wanted to throw up. music has declined so much. they just dont make movies like this anymore

Unusualsuspect, he stayed on Italy's original side for a very simple reason: he predicted Italy's changing of sides to be shameful for the country. He knew in the future Italy would have been seen as a cowardly and dishonoured country. He fought on that side to demonstrate what an Italian can do, even though he knew he was on the wrong side. He fought on that side to prevent the world and people like you from saying such things and hating and insulting the country he loved. I can tell he failed.
DannyNicloa, actually he didnt fail, my Grandfather told me how bravely some Italian soldiers fought. Also The Italians killed Mussolini, proving that they didn't like what he stood for. Italy is a great country, it has given the world alot of great art and literature and philosopy. Modern Italy is a beautiful place.
Thanks for your open mind. I anyhow have another grandad who changed to the allied side after the 1943 armistice. I believe there are no cowardly nations in general. Politician's decitions differ greatly from the bravery of simple soldiers. Generalising a population is foolish: this is also why tragedies like the Holocaust started. I still get angry to that old joke: "Smallest book ever: Italian heroes"...whoever laughs to that joke should have a look to the Italian graveyard out of El Alamein.
"Dragging behind you the silent reproach of a million tear-stained eyes" this is a metaphor of the fallen in the world wars. According to my interpretation, the song is also telling us never to forget them. Another interpretation could be that even if we think our lives our rotten, those who have lived and died in the wars had an even more rotten life whatsoever. Also, the silent reproach makes us suffer because we mourn their loss, just like Pink mourns his dad

It starts off gentle and slow, with a somewhat somber feeling to it, then slightly escalates (1:01), and finally, with only a drum roll and scene change as a warning (1:45), bursts into faster, heavier music, coupled in the most perfect way with fast and intense imagery, and a lack of lyrics which draws attention to the wonderful instrumentals and to the video.

Actually, Pink Floyd is extremely antiwar in this album. The video for "Goodbye Blue Sky" is extremely anti-war.
