There is no "Official Language" in Switzerland. There are regions that speak French, which I understand is intelligable to people from France, Italian, which is a fairly foreign but identifyable dialect of italian, and German...ah...this is a completely unintelligable collection of nonsense and garble to anyone who speaks german. If you go to Switzerland, learn french. Your time will be spent better.

@whatuwantmom It depends on where you live, if you're african you'll probably find it cold. Most of Switzerland isn't that cold actually, and temperatures during summer exceed 30°C. I live in ticino, in the italian speaking part of the country, and weather is even slighty warmer than the rest of Switzerland... Of course, during winter nights temperatures can drop down to -10 or even below, even in Ticino, but you stay at home to sleep :)

What makes a country great, are the people....not the sites...from all i've read, the Swiss are one of the most civilized people there are in this world..:( .I'm actually glad that at least some don't have to put up with all the s$%@ i get daily in my country.

Probably if i ever get the chance to move in another country to escape the injustice i've faced so far, Switzerland, Norway and probably Japan would be my only choices...

I agree with your observation. you actually find no wild animals and bords. Only Swiss cow is visible everywhere. You do not hear birds pirching in the morning or evening.  IN Zurich or Luzern lakes, you find some duck and guls.

I speak 5 languages.. Portuguese(oficial) , italian,spanish,english,japone­se, i am learning french... and my grandmother she lives in germany... and she teach me.. well a teach is better.. i am student in this moment... and i go stud graphic design :)

That's strange, because I live in Lugano (actually now I live in Lausanne because of university) and until the end of the highschool I learned italian, english, french and german! :) That's one of the positive points of living in the italian part of Switzerland :)

Go to Interlaken, it's in the bernese swiss alps. Most famous place in the world with NZ for extreme sports like skydiving, paragliding, canyoning, rafting, climbing, bungee jumping, base jumping and some more. Many young people from all over the world are there. Have fun !

The place has a way of getting under your skin. BTW..The swiss are definitely NOT "backwoodsmen"..They are some of the most Inteligent and creative people in europe! They could teach us in the UK a thing or 3 about how to run a country...God bless em!
