I keep a black widow. Many people keep them aswell. As long as you know what to do, everything's fine. I, personally, think that they're really fascinating. Keeping a poisonous snake is a lot harder, though. I only have a python but I know a guy who keeps all kinds of snakes, most of them are deadly, but that's what makes it even more interesting. I don't see anything weird or frealy in this. There are a lot freakier things out there.
