This man spouts off about how music is forbidden and alcohol is forbidden. This is a so called muslim following his faith. If there are idiot spouting this stuff on the net what else would people believe?
@raqib56 I am not saying the net is the authority! Mr choudary is a radical, many radical Muslims believe a Khalifah will unite all Islamic lands and people and subjugate the rest of the world". So is this statement true or false? are you telling me this person is wrong as well, Quranic verses which indicate the prohibition of music
by Abu Bilal Mustafa al-Kanadi? You are using the net to have this debate, so should I take your view not to be right either?
@raqib56 It doesnt matter whether it is about religion, maths, history etc then, as you are saying the internet is not authority! A lot of students do there studying and gain information from the net! What you are saying is nothing on the net is true? So any books etc that are published to the net are not true? You are using the islamophobe rubbish, people like you will always fall back on that excuse it is convenient! as you are unable to put your point across without using the word!
@raqib56 A meticulous, critical analysis of the relevant texts from the hadeeth literature reveals that, contrary to the commonly-held belief, there are a number of authentic narrations from the prophetic sunnah which clearly point to the indisputable fact that music, instruments, singing to accompaniment, etc. are objects prohibited by the Islamic Shar'iah.
@raqib56 why dont you do some research yourself? A meticulous, critical analysis of the relevant texts from the hadeeth literature reveals that, contrary to the commonly-held belief, there are a number of authentic narrations from the prophetic sunnah which clearly point to the indisputable fact that music, instruments, singing to accompaniment, etc. are objects prohibited by the Islamic Shar'iah. Here is something you can search for to get you started.
@raqib56 It seems whatever information you are given you will just dipell it as untrue and claim that they are non muslims! It seems that you are the oracle of islam! and no one else counts. Take a look at yourself maybe it is you who is the non muslim. People who call other people fakes etc are normally the fakes themselves. Good luck with your research.
@raqib56 The Religion of Islaam has made clear the prohibition of Music, as is clear from the Qur'aan, ahaadeeth of the Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) and the understanding of the Companions (radi Allaahu anhum), when all three are taken together.
TAKEN FROM THE ISLAM NETWORK. I do hope they are not lying and spreading hate about their own kind! I think you need to do a bit of homework about your own faith. Good luck.
so the qu'ran was guiding you to wish the death of Salman Rushdie then Cat? please look for the clip on youtube where he is condoning the threats. That is not a peaceful attitude. this man is false!
So in islam music is forbidden. SO i do hope that this man has now stopped singing and writing songs to be truly part of the islam faith!
The truth is easy to find on youtube. Type in Cat Stevens and Salman Rushdie. You will find BBC videos of Yusef agreeing that Salman Rushdie should be killed. He debates whether he'd kill him himself, and that he'd show up to see him burnt to death. And if he was in an Islamatic country and ordered to by a judge, says he would kill Rushdie. He can deny it now but the evidence exists. He's being used for PR to give radicals a peaceful face. Don't blame all of Islam, blame radicals like him.
Some people are really very rude. It shows they are coming from not a normal ligitimate family, but who suffered a great deal of unhappy childhood. They need to see a doctor.
he is not a spokesman for the Muslim religion, he is a singer with an opinion and however great a singer he is, what he says is still very much, just his opinion on things as he may see it. I think he is entitled to say what he will and I will still respect him as and only as....a singer!
@fritters56 I agree. Adolf Hitler was a fine landscape painter, and we shouldn't let one or two screw-ups in the rest of his life diminish our appreciation of his contributions to society as an artist.
@loulysweet: Islam is and means Submission. The Peace that you speak of is obtained through the Five Pillars; beginning with your Shehada, followed by your Prayer, Fasting, Zakat, and Hajj. :)
What a complete hypocrite. This following video shows him agreeing that Salman Rushdie should die for writing the Satanic Verses - a book about Islamic folklore. A book I wouldn't be at all surprised that this clown even read. Paste the following after youtube/com/
@penfro Rushdie is a bigger hypocrite since he has no problem with state-sponsored assassination of people who say or write things the government doesn't like. Unless he's the one on the list, of course.
@penfro Last Friday night on Real Time With Bill Maher, Rushdie supported the assassination of Anwar Awlaki, an American citizen who had not been charged with so much as a parking ticket. Considering that Rushdie himself was once put on an assassination list by the Iranian government, he really is a two-faced weasel now isn't he?
There are audios and videos of Awlaki urging attacks against Americans. That nut job Hasan, who massacred 13 fellow US soldiers - soldiers who would have got in harms way to protect him - was inspired by Awlaki's murderous rants. This isn't just things a 'government doesn't like'. Your pathetic attempt at euphemism fools no one.
The only reason Cat came back is because he needed western money to support his extremist Muslim buddies. I SAY IT IS TIME TO BOYCOTT CAT STEVEN AKA YUSUF ISLAM SONGS he siad it himself he is no longer Cat Steven.
Islam motivated the events of September 11; to say that Islam is peace is pure ignorance. Cat Stevens or 'Yusef' is a total douche bag and a complete flake. I have never seen a more solipsistic, self-involved narcissist.
Matters not to me what he calls himself now. He is Cat Stevens. Period. That's the man I was introduced to in life with his music. This other name, to each his own.
@davidtlane10 I never called for the death of Salman Rushdie; nor backed the Fatwa issued by the Ayatollah Khomeini--and still don’t. The book itself destroyed the harmony between peoples and created an unnecessary international crisis.
When asked about my opinion regarding blasphemy, I could not tell a lie and confirmed that--like both the Torah and the Gospel--the Qur’an considers it, without repentance, as a capital offense. (Yusuf Islam)
I grew up hearing Cat Stevens music due to an older brother playing it often. I always really loved and enjoyed it. Even as a young girl, I appreciated the peaceful soulfulness of it. I'm glad he's back doing music again and still stands for and believes in peace.
He supported the murder of an author for writing a book and for this he can not be redeemed, This is so much outside of what is considered civil society. He never retracted his statement and stood by it!
@annata12 I was asked a question about blasphemy according to Islamic Law, I simply repeated the legal view according to my limited knowledge of the Scriptural texts, ....] The next day the newspaper headlines read, "Cat Says, Kill Rushdie." I was abhorred [appalled?], but what could I do? I was a new Muslim. If you ask a Bible student to quote the legal punishment of a person who commits blasphemy in the Bible, he would be dishonest if he didn't mention Leviticus 24:16. (Yusuf Islam)
@annata12 Go to his web site. He never supported the Ayatollah's Fatwah. He explains that the media invented something that never happened and the joke he made on tape under some pressure was caustic humour that he deeply regrets.
We often say things we regret, even immediately, but fortunately for most of us the video tape isn't recording it.
@OneJohnFiveTwelve i have the exact transcript before me, he supported the Fatwa as his religion commands the death of those who insult Islam or leave Islam.
@OneJohnFiveTwelve Total bollocks. Rusdie's life was on the line due to committing the crime of writing a novel. This IDIOT and utter CUNT contributed to the threats put upon Rushdie's life. He should take his dog shit music and his fucked up religion and fade away. For good.
@SOS763 You give the appearance of a very bitter and unhappy person! It seems even deep regrets and 30 years is insufficient to warrant your forgiveness.
As far as his music is concerned, it is very popular. Your bitterness warps your judgment.
Religion? Well yes, as a Christian I find Islam totally opposes everything I believe. A person would have to be totally deceived to honour a murdering paedophile. I can still find forgiveness for the man tho.
@OneJohnFiveTwelve I suppose you informing me that you're a Christian explains your lack of brains. Islam teaches murder and enslavement. And for the record, Yusuf made those records as a fucking atheist! Lol. Are you forgetting that?
He only became religious after his success. Now please fuck off.
@SOS763 "informing me that you're a Christian explains your lack of brains...". As an insult and certainly not a comment reflecting of fact, I don't think thats even worth a reply. I'm surprised though that you didn't pick that up from my screen name. Also, you obviously disn't read carefully what I said of Islam, because you obviously agree with me.
The comments we are discussing were not made as an atheist, but as a Muslim. (more)
(continued) but as a muslim. Oh, apologies... On re-reading I see you are referring to his records. It surprises me that you seem unaware that he is CURRENTLY making records and that they are, indeed popular.
Finally, why do you ask me to F--- O--? Are you unable to respond intelligently?
@raqib56 "Usually, Islamophobics are not intelligent,"
You apparently didn't quite finish your sentence. Were you going to explain what actually constitutes an "Islamophopic", or where you derived your stistics?
Or perhaps you are simply copying the tactics of homosexuals that think you only have to add "phobia" to the end of a word to immediately sweep away all opposing views eliminating embarrassing debate over the facts?
@raqib56 "talmudic interrogation "? disease? Sorry, you'll need to be a little... no a LOT clearer. Unless you addressed your reply to the wrong person.
Re: your comments on the Vatican, I am a Christian, not a Roman Catholic. Roman Catholicism is Baylonian religion revived, taking over a sector of the church with its Priests, the Confessional and various Babylonian doctrines. The True Church, persecuted for most of the 2,000 years since then has co-existed.
@raqib56 "...neocon high priest ... new Bible...holy Land's demography & expansionism ""
I said you'd need to be a lot clearer, but instead you've gone the other way. I have no idea what you are trying to say...suggest...accuse of - whatever.
Your behaviour suggests you are trolling, so I'm happy to leave it there.
@raqib56 "Trolling" is what's wrong with it. I won't answer any more cryptic messages.
However, make sense, clearly debate an issue (get someone to proof-read your post, as English is obviously your 2nd language) and we might have a conversation.
A philanthropist for giving money to Islamic schools? For contributing to the segregation of Muslim immigrants and creating areas were radical islam can thrive? Good work Charlie. How about calling for the death of Salman Rushdie for writing a book? I'm sad his name was taken off the no-fly list.
All very cosy and lovely and all, and I love the fact that his music is "an expression of love". Beautiful....but ah, well I don't want to spoil the atmosphere of effusive love and peace and goodwill Yusuf but ah....you did wish Salman Rushdie dead. For nothing other than writing a novel. A novel which many Muslim scholars lauded as a necessary critique. Where does wanting to see a mild mannered author dead fit in with all this? Just thought I'd mention it. Charlie didn't
@fizzgig3000 Sorry to say fizzgig but he is on tape saying that Salman Rushdie deserves to die and when asked if he would go to a demonstration in which an effigy of Salman was burned he said "I'd prefer if it was the real thing". Sounds like an endorsement to me. Not least because it is an endorsement
fair enough...still, if the recording you're talking about was his address at a university he claims those comments were improperly edited and that he has never supported vigilantism. He also has said he was joking at the time and regrets his words. I think it was probably more in poor taste than an actual reflection of his views.

@LeBigMacDaddy You are right that he said it and that he is on tape saying it. He was a much younger man at that time. He has matured in the last 30 years I think, and he probably has a much saner view of things now as an older man. Evidence of this is that 30 years ago he wouldn't play musical instruments because he was of the fundamentalist view that this was 'haram'. He now does not hold this view ; he has matured out of the fundamentalism of his younger years.
@acr08807 I agree with you that he should apologize to Rushdie. Calling for someones death over something which they wrote is insane. All I am saying is that Cat Stevens is now an older and hopefully a wiser man than he was when he was in his younger years.
@acr08807 Yes he is older. I would also look elsewhere for "wisdom". I was saying "wiser" not necessarily "wise". Most everyone is a different person than who they were in their younger years. I'm 38 and I'm only in the vaguest beginnings of understanding this. Again, totally agree with you that he ought to apologize to Rushdie....
@fizzgig3000 listen again! When asked what he would do when people burn an effigy of the Author, he replied he would hope that it would be the real thing! He also said that he would carry out the murder if commanded by an Imam! What the fuck, that's not moral in any way shape or form! He is a fundamentalist who speaks soft words but is the worst kind of fanatic. just wiki it
Go and read the Quran with an open mind, I will guarantee you it is something you have never read in your life. Islam teaches that None has the right to be worshiped except God, and Muhammad, Jesus, Moses, Abraham are the messengers of God. So take the chance while you are alive to research and investigate Islam. If you don't believe it to be the truth after you have researched then you have chosen your path.
Yes in Islam who ever openly leaves Islam with proof, then he/she will be executed only in a Islamic State. Islam is that which gives life to the dead, when a person is not a Muslim it's as if they are dead, because they are not worshiping the Creator who is One God. So once they embrace Islam they found the truth, the purpose of life, and after knowing the truth they return to falsehood then that is the greatest sin against God which is punishable by death.
@loulysweet I trust you are right, but it is hard to accept that when this speaker publicly called for the murder of Salman Rushdie, why he was arrested on the spot I do not knwo.I guess his years of study of the Koran have lead him to an incorrect understanding of his faith.
... and considering a subhuman illiterate thug, bandit, slaver, mass-murderer, and rapist of women and children to be the "Seal of the Prophets" and "al-insan al-kamil."
(3:44) (O Muhammad!) We reveal to you this account from a realm which lies beyond the reach of your perception for you were not with them when they drew lots with their pens about who should be Mary's guardian,43 and you were not with them when they disputed about it. Chapter 3. Al-i'Imran
On February 21, 1989, Yusuf Islam addressed students at Kingston University in London about his conversion to Islam and was asked about the controversy in the Muslim world and the fatwa calling for Salman Rushdie's execution. He replied, "He must be killed. The Qur'an makes it clear - if someone defames the prophet, then he must die." [5]
Newspapers quickly denounced Yusuf Islam's support for the assassination of Rushdie
rememeber attacks on artists in Sweden Norway Denmark Holland say no
Here's a question Charlie Rose will never ask Yusuf, formerly Cat Stevens:
Do you still support the death penalty against Rushdie for writing The Satanic Verses? Do you regret speaking out in favor of the death sentence when it was announced by the nutcase Koemini?
That would be a brave question to ask, which Charlie Rose won't.
@JonDavidson Yusuf never supported the death penalty against Rushdie. The press twisted his words and ran with the false story. The actual interview is on you-tube.
@MaireadPeig , I'm sorry to burst your illusion; but look up "Cat Stvens Salman Rushdie" or "Yusuf Salman Rusdie" , and you will find a debate Stevens was invited to called "Hypotheticals" in which he explicitly stated his support for the murder of Rushdie, and at the end, when asked if he would watch Rushdie burned in effigy stated "only if it was the real thing".
Don't believe me; watch it for yourself. But do watch it.
I'm glad Yusuf/Cat is back and not keeping his Allah?-given talents from us anymore, but I wish Charlie had asked him why Yusuf Islam publicly supported the fatwa death sentence against fellow artist Salman Rushdie in the 1980s.
@MaskedMarvyl Are you stupid or what. WHo talked about a silly stuff like that " God coming down" you are an idiot. God killed, like it or not,,this is how GOD punished people.Just to give you an example form your bible,,GOD whipped out humanity at one point except for the people who followed Noah. SO f off,,you are in denial.
@qasion , if you believe that, you are too stupid and ignorant to talk to, let alone argue with. Go to school, learn how to spell, have fun believing in Noah and the Big Boat of Animals. You can get the coloring book for it too if you want.
If you really believe that God wiped out humanity and that is the God you want to worship, that is sad, but it is your choice.
But don't expect others to worship such a simple-minded, revenge-oriented cretin, just because he'll "get us" if we don't.
@MaskedMarvyl You must be a gay,,I know those people they just like to twist holy books to their likings and live in denial,, stay delusional about the real God. You will find out about the "simple minded" God when you get dropped 6 feet under. IT'S there waiting for you,,,it's a matter when your clock is over.
@MaskedMarvyl Once again,,don't twist the religion to your likings. God killed, you might not like the word and substitue with Punished Severly if that maked feel better,,along mankind history and whipped out humanity at one point like it or not. So,,either you take the bible from cover to cover as the truth or just drop the whole bible together because there is no room for partial beliefs,,idiot.
@qasion, I've noticed the less educated a person is, and the worse their spelling is, the more they love to use the word "idiot", "moron" and "fag".
If you hadn't been so fast to call me an idiot for disagreeing with you, you would have found I agree with your statement: "either you take the bible from cover to cover or just drop the whole bible altogether because there is no room for partial beliefs". I couldn't have said it better myself.
The world desperately needs people like Yusuf to speak out against radical militant Islam and the extremists who are trying to capture the hearts and minds of Muslims everywhere. Unfortunately, few seem to have the courage to speak out. I wish Yusuf and other prominent Muslims would lead the charge, but all I hear is silence.
@RoadWarrior35 , As some others have said, and I agree with, if he went back on his support of Rushdie's death fatwa and publicly denounced it, YUSUF would be killed by fellow muslims.
Wanna know more about ISLAM? See lecturs by: - Yusuf ESTES (Texas, USA) - Abdur rahim GREEN (UK) - Salem Al AMRY (UAE) - Assim Al HAKEEM (SA) - Yasir QADHI (USA) - Hussain YEE (Malaysia) - Ahmed DEEDAT (South Africa) - Musa CERANTONIO (Australia) - Abdullah Hakim QUIK (Canada) - Eddie (thedeenshow com) - Baba ALI (ummahfilms com) - Zakir NAIK (peacetv TV) - Khalid Yasin (Harlem, USA)
Unfortunately I just discovered a video on myspace of Yusuf supporting the fatwa against Rusdie on a British television program, so obviously he is lying about this. I'm disappointed - I love his music, and I thought he was a wonderful inspiration to many people.
Well, his conversion says a lot to me - "man of peace", indeed. Either his finding of faith turned him into a bigot or brought out the bigot already there. See him on "Hypotheticals" in 1989.
The New York Times also reports this statement from the program: [If Rushdie turned up at my doorstep looking for help] I might ring somebody who might do more damage to him than he would like. I'd try to phone the Ayatollah Khomeini and tell him exactly where this man is.
Robertson: You don't think that this man deserves to die?
Y. Islam: Who, Salman Rushdie?
Robertson: Yes.
Y. Islam: Yes, yes.
Robertson: And do you have a duty to be his executioner?
Y. Islam: Uh, no, not necessarily, unless we were in an Islamic state and I was ordered by a judge or by the authority to carry out such an act - perhaps, yes.
[Some minutes later, Robertson on the subject of a protest where an effigy of the author is to be burned]
Cat Stevens aka Yusuf, when I was five, I was dancing around to moonshadow. It was the first song I fell in love with, and years later the first song I learned on guitar. He has always been someone I adored for his peaceful music, views on life, and the love he shows through his music. A most awesome guy!
@tiggermatty Truth. Teaser & the Firecat was one of the first albums I recall listening to constantly. It's wonderful when excellent, artistic music is so universal that it reaches children (like myself then) and your parents don't have to explain everything or censor it.
I was too because he did give up a LOT.And one would assume that you'd get addicted to fame and money and the women or something of that sort.
Then I read all these articles/interviews on the Majikat site and now its very clear how he evolved as a person and started seeking spiritual enlightenment and all that because his fame didn't give him peace.
You say that without knowing the first thing about the religion he has adopted. Did you know for instance that Muslims are commanded to annex the world to Islam with politics and the sword? Yusuf Islam condoned the death sentence passed on Rushdie for merely writing a book critical of religion. Does that seem the action of a peaceful or enlightened soul, or does it seem the folly of a duped one?
You could for starters WATCH the interview itself before you say "Yusuf Islam condoned the death sentence passed on Rushdie for merely writing a book critical of religion" and maybe read the book too while you're at that and then say something.
I'd like to have a nice little chat w/ you after that!
Watch the panel he attended as a panelist with the British chief of police where he explicitly said he would not renounce the death sentence, anything he has said after the fact is apologetic sophistry. He is a Salafist, it is incumbent on him to agitate for Rushdie's death. Do not challenge those who exceed you in knowledge and intellect, you'll just make an idiot of yourself.
Please try a bit harder to remove your blinkers. Islam/Stevens actions in saying he was "misquoted" or "misrepresented" in the press are frankly obscene.
1) "He (Rushdie) must be killed. The Quran makes it clear - if someone defames the prophet, then he must die." - YUSUF ISLAM, Feb. 1989.
"Salman Rushdie or indeed any writer who abuses the prophet, or indeed any prophet, under Islamic law, the sentence for that is actually death. It's got to be seen as a deterrent, so that other people should not commit the same mistake again." - YUSUF ISLAM, March 1989.
2) May 1989 interview with Queen's Counsel Geoffrey Robertson -
ROBERTSON: You don't think that this man deserves to die?
Y. ISLAM: Who, Salman Rushdie?
ROBERTSON: Yes.
Y. ISLAM: Yes, yes.
ROBERTSON: And do you have a duty to be his executioner?
Y. ISLAM: Uh, no, not necessarily, unless we were in an Islamic state and I was ordered by a judge or by the authority to carry out such an act; perhaps, yes.
There's also a nice little video on Yusuf's official site after 'Buddha and the chocolate box' came out that clearly shows how he was kind of leaning towards spirituality as opposed to materialism and all that.
@gcbranco - BIG SIGH. it's about the GOOD in us, not what religion we have. The Christians (Americans) spread death all over the world by wars for profit and they are Christians for crying out loud. Jesus is crying his heart out over such stupidity. Thank the Universe I don't have a religion.
@noncroyant you will never able to see jesus untill you make it to heaven, if you really love jesus, than read holy quran.god has given you brain so use it to decide which true or which is flase.
@gcbranco Yes, I felt the same way initially, but feel his truth is valid enough for him - and in return, we get all his true feelings through his music.
My comment is not so much to the video as it is to the commentary below. I have my own path to follow into the unknown but I find great joy &comfort in music. It helps me to come to some understanding of this unkwown whom I choose to call God. I live my life to help others find their own path into the unknown. Mr. Chaudry represents nohing else but an element vulnerable to
secret services to use him against muslims & Islam, reserved
for hidden academic exploited propaganda material.
Designation of a Khalifa is nothing new, we muslim, for our unity desire
such figure for Ummah & that frieghtens the west, they see in Khalifah
their electoral paranoia, A khalifah is nothing different than US President,

Subjugating is nonsense !

Radicalism is a term given to human faculty of emotions & egoism,
it is usually never created by religions, its the so called selfstyled
bogus & angry interpretations to justify their groups, sects,
schools of thought-turned rejectionist sects.
When you wish to creat a group, sect, you have to disown the original !
The tragedy is with all ideologies as well !

@raqib56 The Religion of Islaam has made clear the prohibition of Music, as is clear from the Qur'aan, ahaadeeth of the Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) and the understanding of the Companions (radi Allaahu anhum), when all three are taken together.

so the qu'ran was guiding you to wish the death of Salman Rushdie then Cat? please look for the clip on youtube where he is condoning the threats. That is not a peaceful attitude. this man is false!
So in islam music is forbidden. SO i do hope that this man has now stopped singing and writing songs to be truly part of the islam faith!
scopper1967 4 months ago
The truth is easy to find on youtube. Type in Cat Stevens and Salman Rushdie. You will find BBC videos of Yusef agreeing that Salman Rushdie should be killed. He debates whether he'd kill him himself, and that he'd show up to see him burnt to death. And if he was in an Islamatic country and ordered to by a judge, says he would kill Rushdie. He can deny it now but the evidence exists. He's being used for PR to give radicals a peaceful face. Don't blame all of Islam, blame radicals like him.

Jelperman 5 months ago
@Jelperman
Eh? Can you please be specific, who does Rushdie want assassinated that's disagrees with a government?
penfro 5 months ago
@penfro Last Friday night on Real Time With Bill Maher, Rushdie supported the assassination of Anwar Awlaki, an American citizen who had not been charged with so much as a parking ticket. Considering that Rushdie himself was once put on an assassination list by the Iranian government, he really is a two-faced weasel now isn't he?
Jelperman 5 months ago
@Jelperman
Your pathetic attempt at euphemism fools no one.

davidtlane10 7 months ago

(Yusuf Islam)
homeros8000 7 months ago
@annata12 Go to his web site. He never supported the Ayatollah's Fatwah. He explains that the media invented something that never happened and the joke he made on tape under some pressure was caustic humour that he deeply regrets.

I think you are scared if you read the Quran, and Prophet Muhammad's biography that you would find it to be the truth.
bagepeeny 1 year ago
@unanacoreta
If you don't believe it to be the truth after you have researched then you have chosen your path.
bagepeeny 1 year ago 2
@unanacoreta

JonDavidson 1 year ago

No, God never killed anyone. According to the bible, he ORDERED his prophets to kill his supposed enemies.
There is no historical record of God coming down and personally blasting away people; there is no archeological record of it, only stories.
You know, like the stories of Zeus blasting enemies with his thunderbolts, or causing earthquakes?

@qasion , if you believe that, you are too stupid and ignorant to talk to, let alone argue with. Go to school, learn how to spell, have fun believing in Noah and the Big Boat of Animals. You can get the coloring book for it too if you want.

all very nice and dandy, but I remain curious as to his conversion to Islam. nothing against it, just curious as to his thoughts

He's answered his decisions behind it multiple times. Take a look online, there's a nice documentary somewhere.

@Pammy1960 search this on google " Answers.com - How did Yusuf Islam convert to Islam "

What a man!

You say that without knowing the first thing about the religion he has adopted. Did you know for instance that Muslims are commanded to annex the world to Islam with politics and the sword? Yusuf Islam condoned the death sentence passed on Rushdie for merely writing a book critical of religion. Does that seem the action of a peaceful or enlightened soul, or does it seem the folly of a duped one?

umm.
You could for starters WATCH the interview itself before you say "Yusuf Islam condoned the death sentence passed on Rushdie for merely writing a book critical of religion" and maybe read the book too while you're at that and then say something.
I'd like to have a nice little chat w/ you after that!
Good day!

Dear ShmellyCat,
Please try a bit harder to remove your blinkers.

3) On the subject of a protest where an effigy of Rushdie is to be burned...
ROBERTSON: Would you be part of that protest, Yusuf Islam, would you go to a demonstration where you knew that an effigy was going to be burned?
YUSUF ISLAM: I would have hoped that it'd be the real thing.

@shanna1950
Yes, Jesus is crying his eyes out and the mass-murdering slaver and rapist called Muhammad (pigshit be upon him) is laughing with glee.

@gcbranco Yes, I felt the same way initially, but feel his truth is valid enough for him - and in return, we get all his true feelings through his music.
