1. The main purpose of the Indian Army being close to the Pakistan border is to stop insurgents crossing in from Pakistan.

2. The reason why there are so many Indian forces on the border is because the border stretches for thousands of miles thus needing a large presence of Indian forces.

3. Most countries around the world have military forces positioned along their borders.
