  • I don't have a cool mic setup either. Hell all the stuff I do from home is done with an IPOD Nano. The live recordings are done with a cheap digital camera. I like blues alot. I just don't like crappy blues. I just put video of bluesy guitar playing over a Blue Jean Blues backing track on my page....... You have the only "what" in Greece??

  • I looked on your page to see if you had a video of this set up. I couldn't find one though. You should get one up. I did check out some videos of the Suhr Riot though. It sounds really good. It's real organic and seems to have loads of gain.

  • Finally, Someone overdrives the piss out of one of these. I hate how everyone trys to play with so much "Feeeling", they all have to be "Bluuusey". I had to go through a lot of crappy "GAG" U2 covers, and shitty blues players to find someone kicking ass on an AC-30. PEOPLE NEED TO REALIZE PLAYING BLUES DOESN'T COMPENSATE FOR SUCK. Nice playing /tone. You ripped it up and you got a thumbs up. The 2 thumbs down were surely one of the blusey players and one of the "Gag" U2 guys.

  • @Stratonini ha thanks, that made my day. check out ny new channel, raymondjamesrivera. i'm just gonna put all my vids on there from now on, no more on here. send a friend request in a couple days if i dont

  • @Stratonini so what your saying is anyone who doesn't overplay, or have a ratty 80's lead tone is shit?

you want to talk about "gag"? listen to the plethora of Malmsteen clones like you who think that because they can sweep (albeit NOT cleanly like the real Malmsteen), and alternate pick 32nd notes until the cows come home that they are somehow superior and do not suck makes me laugh. we all have our strengths and weaknesses....yes super-shredder, even you.

    cool demo btw :)

  • @superflea72 Uh No, thats not at all what I said. I said it was cool to hear someone overdrive the piss out of an AC30. You must think that your playing is shit if you took a comment not meant for you out of context that badly. Thats some chip you've got on your shoulder man. I thought spicbuddha's video was refreshing after 15 sucky guys TRYING to play blues. I didnt know the glass slipper would fit your little cinderella foot so well. I'm as far from a Malmsteen clone as you are a blues player

  • @Stratonini if that's true, then why didn't you just say "hey, nice tone - I'm digging that driven AC30" and leave it at that? I didn't refer to myself once, it was you who put others down....and you think I have an inferiority complex?

far from a Malmsteen clone, eh? let's see: you play a Strat (probably scalloped), you sing about dragons and shit, you bust out a flurry of notes at every available opportunity, and you put other players down....yeah you sound NOTHING like Malmsteen, lol.

  • @superflea72 I have never sang a song about dragons or shit, I don't own or want a scalloped fingerboard guitar I only bust out flurries of notes whenever I feel like it. I definately don't have an inferiority complex to the likes of you. Your insults might mean something had they come from more nimble fingers. Get a life you hack. You should be sued for musical malpractice. I think a dingo is eating your baby!!

  • @Stratonini lmao, that dingo joke is like 30 years old...get a new one!

listen dude, I've ragged on you here but the truth is you're an ok player. your weedly-weedly-weedly-weeeeee style is not to my tastes, but whatever. the thing I really detest however is the cocky, holier-than-though attitude people like you have about 'lesser' players. I'm no Vai, that's for damn sure, but I know I'm not crap either, yet you still couldn't help calling me a hack. that make you feel better superion?

  • @Stratonini I play drop tuned with a charvel guitar and a shur riot dist.pedal in front of my ac30cc2x ^^

  • i play the blues kid and would get yr ears owned

  • @BayouBluesMan No video = No ownage.

  • @Stratonini lol even if i made a video i don't have a cool mic so it'll sound shitty.

But trust me when i say i have the only one in Greece

  • @Stratonini

I love this comment so much. I've noticed a lot of the time when someone puts emphasis on "feeling" in guitar playing, they tend to know something like 4 or 5 chords and the pentatonic minor/blues scales and then other than that just a few covers.

I don't really push my AC30 very much but I don't play blues. I just love the tone for clean post rock riffs and clean death metal verses.

  • I'm definitely gonna get one of these. Tried one out this week and I'm gonna get it if I have to rob a bank to do it.

  • @spicbuddha, I've bought an AC15HW TV, didn't have the money for the full ac30 alnico package. Anyways, ac30 tone at 1/2 the volume imho!

  • @DavidColledani It wouldn't be half the volume. Usually double the power equates to around 10% more perceivable volume. They do obviously break up a lot earlier though.

  • Sounds great!

  • Sounds awesome!

  • @GallGael2 Thanks man, sometimes I wonder if I should keep this tone, but I'm getting so many good comments I'm keeping it!

  • @spicbuddha yeah its lovely, have you had any problems with this amp as others have apparently had? because i want it and just want to check with someone who knows how to get a nice tone ;) :) hahaha

  • @GallGael2 I have two of them, one is fine, the other one something happened to it recently. But I've had them for a while, and I also bought them used, so who knows how they were treated before.

All Vox AC30's, even the 60's ones that people covet are notoriously unreliable, but I stick by them. I think the new ones had problems when they first opened shop in China. Some quality control issues, but I think those have been worked out.

  • @spicbuddha yeah, always happens at the start of a new shop. They sound killer though! Played a second hand AC15CC, i think it had a wharferdale in it, but it blew my mind. It only had one input, and was kinda only a top boost channel, but was great! Can not wait to try an AC30CC and hear its diversity!

  • This vid sounds like it had a bit more midrange than the first one, Great tone!

  • @bigfish0886 Thanks! Its the camera position, the settings on the amp didn't change.

  • @bigfish0886 also the other riff is drop d tuning, and i'm playing with more accents...

  • you play like a real mother f;er dude. way to go. i'm going to buy this amp

  • @back2thefutre thanks man! I'm gonna hit you up for a friend invite on my new channel, raymondjriveraguitar.

  • It's true about the IC's and such. I keep the loop disengaged, but it probably does affect the tone. But all of this doesn't matter, because I love my tone, my band loves my tone, and alot of people on YouTube love it. I would love to buy a 60's Vox, you wanna give me 10 grand?

  • love aqua teen hunger force!

  • Anyways, THIS is the sound I've been looking for years and years!

  • @DavidColledani well too bad, cause i have it haha... I'm just ripping off Brian May anyway, go buy a treble booster and experiment, just show people my vid...

  • @DavidColledani did you get an AC30 yet?

  • @spicbuddha actually not yet, I've had some financial and time-related issues so I wasn't playing nor buying in the last year or so. But in the next month I will buy one. :) I'm thinking about the AC15TV also.

  • @DavidColledani it sound kinda marshall vintage modern, the one with KT88

  • @keaulana1 wow comparing a marshall a shitty amp to a badasss vox wow

  • This is an ac30 with alnicos, right?

  • word...

  • Based on his previous video, the amp is a Chinese "Custom Classic," not the traditional British Vox. The Custom Classic series circuit is very different than the 60's style AC30 (and is part solid state, instead of all tube). And the blue speakers are also Chinese, not the British Celestions.

  • No, the alnico's in here I bought and put them in myself, they are the british ones... and it is not handwired point to point wiring, but it is a tube circuit,... 4 el84's, 3 12ax7's and a tube rectifier.

  • The Chinese "custom classic" may have 8 tubes, but the true vintage AC 30 circuit uses TEN tubes.

The Chinese "custom classic" is a very different amp. It does have IC's and solid state components in the effects loop, tremolo and reverb circuits.

The vintage AC30 has a TUBE tremolo and no reverb or loop.

  • How much does a 'real' AC30 cost?

  • @Tim8tei ac30cc2 (like the one in the video) i assume u talking about - $1200 new

  • haha yah im sure if the vox i tried would have had better tone i would of bought it but the fact is they sound like shit compared to the switchblade

  • seriously try a Hughes and kettner switchblade

  • switchblades suck, digital multi-channel SHIT!!

and dont be all 'blah blah it has tubes', more channels/features = less tone!

  • @aektzis91

The funny thing is most people who think multi-channel digital amps tone heaven, have never played through a cranked valve amp.

Oh the sweet power tube goodness :)

  • @petegiant Yeah, Tubes = TONE, I kept trying out this solid state crap trying to find something small and convenient like the POD X3 Live=clean sounds really weak and none of the models sound like the real amps, RP 1000=amp and effect models sounded closer to real thing but overly processed, Boss GT10=phoney sounding as can be. My new Vox AC15C1 is scheduled for delivery tomorrow!!! LOL I will never stray away from the Tube amp again!!!

  • @petegiant The key is that the amplifier has to be pushed in order to achieve alot of the ideal sounds it can produce. I am NOT saying it doesn't sound good at low levels, these do. The natural compression of the CC series really kicks the rectifier in the ass when you turn it up. Tube rectifier is the key. Great sounding amp.

  • @tatsandteles It's a weird relationship i have with them, they are truly an amp with a "personality". I know that sounds stupid but people who love ac30's may understand with I mean...

  • @spicbuddha NOTHING sounds quite like them. Are the new ones missing the rectifier tube?? By the way, for those who say they aren't for heavier music check out the Stone Temple Pilots.

  • @tatsandteles the new Custom model that came out has no tube rectifier. But that doesn't bother me as much, because my tone is just a rip-off of Brian May, and his Ac30's did not have tube rectifiers either.

  • Hi there! I'm thinking about buying new amp and i relly like ac30 sound. I mostly play blues rock and i think this amp is perfect for it. But, as i don't play only that (there are some hard rock and somtimes metal), i'm interested if it would be OK for something harder with few pedals... TY in advance

  • youd look a bit silly performing in a metal band with an ac30, but run an ehx metal muff through this and it will give you as heavy a tone as you ever will need

  • that is true, thats a great pedal. But why be defined at all by what amp should be used for what music? This is not an attack on you or anything, I just think whatever makes YOU feel good is what's important. When I crank my AC30 and hit a G chord, it's the amp for me...

  • thats very true, and you have proven that!!

  • great tone.5*

  • Ha!!! I meant BLACKSTAR

  • check out my vid with the bolackstar ht dual...see what you think

  • Nice tone.. Loads a Grunt!!

  • Thanks man! We know what good tone is!
