I was suitably put in my place and a bit humbled after, but thank God there was some good teachers keeping an eye on me. We worked 7 days a week and if you wanted off had to get someone to replace you or double. the good old days!

@major42539 You know absolutely ZERO about the drilling industry. Firstly in Europe no one is physically able to work more than a 6 hour day anyway. Aside from that they drill year round. Where this video is taken the drilling season is averaged less than 6 months/yr. Most drilling starts December and ends by mid March, its called break-up. There is some summer drilling but very little. The industry is all about years of training and commitment. Without overtime no one would do it.
@Crumper00 also without ot it'd be a 50K/yr job instead of 150, like fuck i'd drag my ass out into the middle of nowhere to work 8 hr days and go sit in a shithole camp for the other 16!

My company has an incrediple incident record of minimal incidents and we can be running up to 18 hours a day. its because on guy was stupid for one second. these rigs run 3 crews that do 12 hour shifts. the safest and most profitable.. shit in europe is done by paper work.. you have to sit on your ass until you get permits. thats not what is good when the oil company wants the product yesterday.

@major42539 I've worked on these rigs and there is no way I'd work any less than a 12 hour shift. You would make now money and it wouldn't be worth it. I wouldn't know what to do working less than a 12 on this rig.

@major42539 You know absolutely ZERO about the drilling industry. Firstly in Europe no one is physically able to work more than a 6 hour day anyway. Aside from that they drill year round. Where this video is taken the drilling season is averaged less than 6 months/yr. Most drilling starts December and ends by mid March, its called break-up. There is some summer drilling but very little. The industry is all about years of training and commitment. Without overtime no one would do it.

@major42539 man, this is an accident. not because they are running 12 hour shifts. My company has an incrediple incident record of minimal incidents and we can be running up to 18 hours a day. its because on guy was stupid for one second. these rigs run 3 crews that do 12 hour shifts. the safest and most profitable.. shit in europe is done by paper work.. you have to sit on your ass until you get permits. thats not what is good when the oil company wants the product yesterday.

Hum this is why when I worked floors I allways had one eye on what the driller was doing. If you ever get a driller who forgets things you learn to watch him becouse its your ass thats going to get hurt.

I drilled in PA and WV with air for 3 years and when I went back to MI I forgot to kick the pump out 1 time and Ill tell ya I never forgot again. Really pisses the hands off. Since Im 6'2" 240 lbs no one said shit but, I did kinda felt bad ... For a second!!.... I got over it!
